Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi reportedly instructed his followers to mint the coins to "change the tyrannical monetary system."

CAIRO — The leader of the Islamic State group has ordered the terror organization to start minting gold, silver and copper coins for its own currency — the Islamic dinar.

A website affiliated with the group posted the order late Thursday, saying leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi instructed his followers to mint the coins to “change the tyrannical monetary system” modeled on Western economies that “enslaved Muslims.”

The order was approved by the Islamic State’s Shura Council, an advisory board, according to the website. The authenticity of the posting could not be independently verified, but the website has been used in the past for Islamic State postings.

After seizing large swaths of Iraqi and Syrian territory earlier this year, the Islamic State proclaimed a caliphate on lands under its control. It has also sought to implement its harsh interpretation of Islamic law, or Sharia, and al-Baghdadi has proclaimed himself the caliph.

According to photographs of coin prototypes, they carry the words in Arabic: “The Islamic State / A Caliphate Based on the Doctrine of the Prophet.”

It’s unclear where the Islamic State intends to get the gold, silver and copper for the coins. It said the dinar’s purchasing power would be its weight in gold, silver or copper.

One of the gold coins carries the symbol of seven stalks of wheat, mentioned in the Quran, while another has the map of the world, a reference to Islam someday ruling the entire world.

One of the silver coins shows a sword and a shield in a reference to holy war, or jihad, while another has a minaret, symbolizing Damascus mentioned in one of the Prophet Muhammad’s sayings.

Another coin carries the symbol of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, where the Prophet prayed. It’s revered as Islam’s third-holiest place, complete with the site’s iconic gold-topped Dome of the Rock, which enshrines the rock from which Muslims believe the Prophet ascended to heaven.

The copper coins carry the symbol of the crescent moon and three palm trees, also significant in Islam.

The posting said instructions from the Islamic State’s treasury department would be forthcoming, explaining to the people how to use the currency.

I was hanging out with a friend yesterday and read over this story. Heh, my friend being something of a smart alleck said something along the lines of "they're basically worthless, but coin collectors will go crazy."

I imagine they'll be partially funding it with the taxes they force those Christians they allow to live, who won't convert to Islam, to pay:

"Progressive" modern liberals have been big supporters of Islam and the immigration of Muslims into Western nations en masse. These secular humanists are using their increasing and substantial political power to minimize or eliminate the public influence of traditional religious Christian morality and Christian theism in Western Civilization and replace it with a "secularist orthodoxy" and they aren't afraid to pluralistically exploit other anti-Christ ideologies to help them accomplish this faster.

The elephant in the room, of course, is that if Islam gets too great of a hold it will destroy the very secular humanist "progressive" modern liberals who assisted it.

"Satanic usury" lol. That's fresh coming from a demographic built on conquest, pillage, and rape and that presently uses violence to force people to convert, pay a non-Muslim tax, leave, or be murdered.

But you're correct that Islamic banking operates on risk-sharing (a component of trade) rather than risk-transfer as in conventional banking.

The Roman Catholic Church has always condemned usury but with the rise of capitalism and the disestablishment of the Catholic Church in majority Catholic countries is unable to enforce their prohibition.

In Protestantism; Martin Luther, John Calvin, and various Anabaptist ecclesiastical reformers each held different views on the morality of usury and how it related to the Church, Christians, and the state.

In Western Civilization specifically, it was in the 16th century that a dramatic shift in the moral perception of the practice of usury occurred culturally speaking as both theological and economic revolutions were taking place.

It is an interesting topic, and I think much of the abusive usury we see occurring in the world today is not scriptural.

But accepting Islam to fix a banking system is like swallowing a dose of fatal poison to cure a cold. Lets not get it twisted... lol.
