Good blessed morning everyone! :)

This past Sunday I met an astounding young man whom just graduated. I had the remarkable opportunity to pray strength for him, my Holy Spirit brought me to his side. There we sat together and I thought my purpose was to give him comfort; but he said the most profound words.

I asked him, "I can't imagine being your age now, it must be difficult to stay connected with God...?'
He said, "You mean social media and peer pressure?"
I replied, "Ya..."

Then he said THE MOST inspiring few words!!!
"No. It makes God more real!"

Instantly I knew what he meant; that in darkness it's easier to distinguish the spotlight of God. These few words have stuck with me. Personally I haven't been on this planet very long; but I have seen great change in a short period of time in history.

Is this true? Is GOD becoming more real?

I would love to read people's perspectives that have been faithful for a long time. Is God's light becoming more focused as sinful nature grows more tolerant?

what a great Post!

yes, undoubtedly in this time of our lives, the darkness makes profound The Light!

people start to understand that the 'dark-side' is very real, we have spoken to many that have
experienced 'demonic-presense'...if one is aware of one then the other bears witness...

Indeed it does make God more real. I find it interesting what he said because i have always said in the darkness the light shines the brightest. Imagine it's pitch black dead in the night now imagine a fire burning notice how the fire is much more noticeable in the dark. Now think of this fire as our light or the passion and love for God, the darkness flees from the light of the fire and the fire is much more noticeable in the night and weary travelers see that light from a distance and seek refuge and to be near it for warmth and light.

Isaiah 60King James Version (KJV)
60 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.

This mundane world is as the mirage of the desert, but the Kingdom is like unto a sea of great surges and rolling waves. Those who longed for the mirage have indeed become more thirsty the more they hastened toward it and have perished in grief after a drop of water.

From a time perspective, people have more access to God throughout the day via social media.

It used to be difficult to pull out your Bible at work or school to get some reading in. It is now common place to check your phone throughout the day where you can get a quick Scripture fix throughout the day.
It used to be that you had a limited number of people you could come in contact with throughout the day to share with or be encouraged by. Now you have access to an unlimited amount of people throughout the day.

Social media has had varying effects on people I know.

It encourages the boastful, those who wish to give impressions or sell a story where otherwise they would get no attention.
It makes the simple into something you envy about or encourages people to condemn something with no qualifications or context, so it can be very cruel.

A lot of people have stopped using it for these reasons as they often get depressed and overwhelmed because they take it all too seriously and do not see themselves as valuable contributors in their own rights.

For my children it is a way of communicating in friendship groups, of having a conversation where the group can contribute. This makes things more open, which can be a good thing, because it gives people opportunity to be supportive and to possibly show how extreme someone might be getting.

I think social media is actually just opening up what was already there but less accessible. If you can make your light shine, then it can shine in more extraordinary ways than it could before, which is a good thing, but equally the opposite is also true.

One thing about darkness and sin, it desires to hide, and it is a good thing to bring it into the light. So on balance I think this sharing and openness is fantastic, but we need to become more aware of what is appropriate and what is not.

On the time front, it soaks up too much time, and can be addictive, which is not a good thing.

Fully agree!! The opposite frame, I wonder if it's harder for teenagers to discern positive versus negative attention at that age? There's a high school I believe in Colorado that's having a huge investigation for texting nudity amongst minors. They would hide/disguise the app so parents wouldn't find them. Obviously not all children are involved. Pray for them!! (So glad I didn't have cell phones or social media at that age!!)

I think so

I haven't been faithful for that long, but one of the main reasons why I am now is because through His grace he answered my questions on how and why in relation to the struggles and apparent chaotic discord I was feeling in my life and seeing in the lives of others. When I would seriously look at the world, it looked hopeless and as if no one cared about anything really. But the evil that has shaped this world thus far is so subtle, but the pouring never stops...it's like a blanket of influence that just gradually corrupts over time.

But yeah if God gives you the grace to step back for a minute, call's a time out for you to see things for what they truly are, you can see how dark the world is and like people above mentioned...the Light is just that much more brighter the darker it gets. The contrast is astounding honestly.

41 years ago, (since coming to the Lord) I saw pretty much status quo, and probably an improvement over the '60's (but the 60's were a huge drop from the '50's).

In the 80's things sorta went selfish. Self love movement

90's Churches went mega, impersonalness set in. Uptick in violence.

Since the 90, the prophetic warnings have become so apparently true that you can almost see the Lord breaking through the membrane of Heaven.
But, still the darkness is promised to get darker for this world.

2 Peter 1:19 (KJV) We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

Hi Goodness!

It seems He is - at least to those of the faith, esp. to the ones that see certain areas of progress as depravity. Is He more real to those on the outskirts of Christianity? Maybe to some, but it doesn't seem so for many.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "sinful nature grows more tolerant."

Cool avatar, by the way!

darkness prevails -

oneness, fellowship, discernment, love, faithfulness, morality, respect, in this generation
take a back-seat to our Fathers sacrifice for His beloved bride....

What he said bears out..the darker the world, the more wicked it gets and the embracement of wicked lifestyles point straight to the word and what the word has to say about the above and more...the darker it is the brighter the candle light shines......

Thank-you!! I also think your avatar is very awesome!! Who doesn't like Spider-Man?

I guess my initial thoughts about 'sinful tolerance' when I wrote the thread was sexual content on television/internet (orgasmic shampoo!) tolerance of swearing, legalization of marijuana, universalism- all Gods are the same God...etc.

Especially consumerism. Must have marble counter-tops or it shall not suffice! Lol! I was chatting with my husbands (well, our) sweetest gentle Grandpa who's ninety-two; and we asked him if he had any wise words: He said;

"Know when you have enough."

Anyway; I think what has become tolerable in society in comparison to my child-hood has become exponentially worse; but then again, Roman Empire times sounded pretty crazy!!!

Hope this makes you laugh!! :)
(Oooops I'll try again!)

This reminds me of the saying: Happiness is wanting what you have.

So many chasing after things they do not have to make them happy...

Of course you qualify :) We should be a collective of many thoughts to bring us to a singular point- all leading us to Heaven hand in hand...that's what I envision anyway; although I might have to wear mittens...it's pretty cold around here! Lol!!
