Music isn't just noise, it's feelings we can hear. Share some lyrics that have been meaningful to you. Funny is good too :) (a link would be helpful, especially if it's something obsure)
 
well, going for the 'humor side' i always cracked up at this old line from GRITS first CD.. i forget the song, as its been years since i've been able to listen to the album..
'i remember one day my momma told me not to eat all the bologna, but i ate all the bologna anyways.. but i won't do that again, cuz she whooped my butt sooooo good'
 
It's funny you know! The most popular rock and roll song of all time is stairway to heaven by Led Zeppelin.
It's not just the lyrics but also the composition of music itself that gave this tune its prolific nature.
As a self professed lover of many of the tunes in this genre I can Identify with them.... well I did indentify with them much more when I was younger.
As a middle aged man though I have to say that my tastes have changed somewhat and as a self taught musician (guitar,harmonica and drums to some extent) I have learned to appreciate many other forms of music as well. (jazz, blues, classical and spanish styles) Being raised on old bluegrass and country as a child (My father's choice of music) and early rock and roll beatles, buddy holly, Elvis Presley etc. (my mothers choice of music) I got a well rounded influence of many genres of music.
What I have noticed with age is that Rock and Roll is well..... The rebels music if you will..... as when we are young the majority of us are rebellious in nature to some extent of our parents, the system etc. so we readily indentify with this style of music. Many ministers fought against this style of music right from its inception and continue to do so today.
I wonder if Mozart and Beethoven had similar trials in their day with the acceptance of their music?
Just my two cents!

Written by Neil Peart, who has been the greatest inspiration to me as a person, writer and drummer since I was a teen. He is more than a lyricist for a great progressive canadian rock band. He is a great thinker, explorer, adventurer and a pioneer. He has riden his bicycle through the deepest parts of China where no white man had ever been seen before. He has lived among tribes in Africa. He has traveled a year on his motorcycle going all the way from Canada to the southern tip of South America and back. He has suffered the tragic loss of his wife and 20 yr old daughter just months from each other. One from cancer, the other from a fatal car accident. He is considered by many to be the best rock drummer that ever lived. He is my real-life hero and #1 inspiration. His lyrics are always thought-provoking, intelligent and beautiful.
