Bread Crumbs “Yes, Lord!” February 5

The greatest statement a man can ever declare is, “Yes, Lord!” The Bible teaches that the born-again believer is no longer his or her own. We have been bought with a price, we are not our own. Jesus is to be the Lord of our lives and He is to direct us in regard to the path that we are to walk. It is our responsibility to run the race, but only God has the right and wherewithal to choose the most profitable course. God's ...choices may often times seem contrary to the desires and plans we have for ourselves. We must believe that God always has our best in mind. If we will submit ourselves to His leading, we will encounter the multiple blessings that simple obedience provides. We must not drag our feet, hesitate, or refuse to move in the direction that God has chosen for us. If we do, we may find ourselves surrounded by negative circumstances. If we choose to follow our own will, our own plan, life will not work out the way we foresaw it. Life can turn out far better than we ever imagined when we follow the will of our Heavenly Father. So let me encourage you today. Say, “Yes, Lord!”

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:23
Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

The virtuous woman has a husband who is known in the gates, which speaks of the place where all judgment was carried out in the city by those who walked in authority. Her husband sits among the elders of the land operating with the authority to make proper judgment among the people. Even though this last chapter of Proverbs can be used by women who desire to be virtuous, or the man who would seek for a virtuous bride, we need not overlook it’s greater picture. This last chapter of Proverbs I believe reveals the church as the virtuous Bride of Christ, who is called unto virtue (2 Peter 1:3-5), through faith in the blood of her Husband (Romans 7:4) to bring forth the fruit of this new union with Him.

Through faith in the work of Christ at the cross, God has given us to His Son as a Bride, and this Bride is being conformed into the very image of her Husband (Romans 8:29). He is today preparing a place for His Bride (John 14:2) while she is making herself ready (Revelation 19:7-8) to meet Him at the marriage banquet dressed in the fine linen of His Righteousness. These garments we are wearing have been dipped in His blood, and are very drab to the world and most of what is called the church today, but we wear them in humility as we await our soon coming Lord, whose vesture will also be dipped in blood, and His name is the Word of God (Revelation 19:13). Come back to the cross today and make yourself ready to meet Him!

Your Word for Today

“and if his oblation be a sacrifice of Peace Offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the LORD (Lev. 3:1).

The infinite fullness of the Atoning Sacrifice of Christ needed many Offerings to show forth, even faintly, its plenitude and veracity. The Burnt Offering pictured Christ dying; the Meal Offering, Christ living; and Leviticus, Chapter 3, presents Him as making peace by the Blood of His Cross, and so establishing for man communion with God (Eph., Chpt. 2).

The Burnt Offering was a male; the Peace Offering, male or female, in either case, without blemish.

When the Offering was presented, the worshipper laid his hand upon the head of the Offering, and its blood was sprinkled on the Altar round about; for fellowship is encircled by Atonement and only exists within it. Thus, God and the worshipper were brought into fellowship. Peace was established. Its eternal and unshakable foundation was not the worthfulness of the worshipper, but the preciousness of the sprinkled blood.

All the fat was wholly burned upon the Altar as a sweet savor. The fat and the blood symbolized the priceless life and precious inward affections of the Lamb of God. All of this gave He for us on the Cross of Calvary, of which all of this in the Levitical Law was a type.”

Walking In The Spirit
———————————————-
In the church today most have reduced walking in the Spirit mostly to our activity, meaning that walking in the Spirit is simply what we do, or the doing of spiritual things. While walking in the Spirit will cause us to do spiritual things, it alone is not the doing of anything but actually it has all to do with our faith. It is my belief that Paul went into great detail on this all important subject in the 5th chapter of Galatians unlike any of his epistles. In Galatians and with the Help of the Lord prayerfully we will shed some light on this subject.

The church of Galatia was founded by the Apostle Paul, hence they were taught thoroughly the message of redemption through faith alone in the cross of Christ. This church allowed false teachers to come in and lead them away from the teachings of Paul, and almost destroying this church because they were reverting back to a system of legalism, and law which is salvation by works or that in order to live victorious they would need to be governed by laws. They had begun to see moral failures in the church, the legalism and law was causing them to bite and Devour one another, all due to the fact that they had left simple faith in the cross and begin to trust in other things other than what God provided through Christ.

In chapter 5 Paul gives the solution to this biting and devouring, the solution to the moral failure, he tells them to walk in the Spirit and they would not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. The word walk is important, it means to conduct ones self or ordering ones manner of life or behavior. So, walk were, in the Spirit Paul says, and in order to do this we must understand where the Holy Spirit is functioning or working. Paul says in Romans 8:2 for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the Law of sin and death. This verse tells us that the Holy Spirit works in Christ, meaning he will not operate or function outside of the legal confines of what Christ did at Calvary. This tells us as believers that it is our faith in the cross that gives the Holy Spirit the latitude to work in our lives and that the Holy Spirit alone can accomplish what needs to be accomplished in our hearts and lives. So, to walk in the Spirit means to place faith in the finished world of cross of Christ, and depend upon the Holy Spirit to help us to live this Christian life as we ought to.

Galatians 5:16
"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."

Bread Crumbs “Understanding Why” February 6

The understanding of all things belongs solely to the Lord. No matter how hard we may try to unravel the reason surrounding some circumstances, the answer as to “why” will not always be immediately opened to us. Of a surety, God is good! As sure as I breathe, He controls all things! As surely as the sun will rise, the Judge of all the earth will do right! He is the Master planner, the only One able to mold all the variable sequences and scenes of our individual lives into a beautiful tapestry. Ours is the responsibility to trust when trusting seems impossible. We are to believe when believing feels impractical and burdensome. When He is ready, He will reveal the reasons as to “why.” He will then send both light and wisdom upon a darkened event of life. The understanding gained will cause us to applaud His mercy, His grace, and His wisdom. Until then we must fight to believe. We must endeavor to trust and to rest in the oasis of His goodness. We must learn to rely upon His empowerment. Then, when He knows the time is right, His wisdom will be revealed. At the point it will be plain to see that He was right about everything, all along!

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:24
She maketh fine linen, and selleth it ; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

The virtuous woman works with her own hands (1 Corinthians 4:12), just as the church is called to do. The Body of Christ is seen in this description of the Virtuous woman which Christ died to make His own. The church is called to be about their Father’s business just as this virtuous woman is about her business tending to the things of her husband, her family, the poor, and in the process she is dealing with many peoples.

Today, many have waxed cold from love due to the iniquity abounding in their own hearts (Matthew 24:12), and every excuse is in their hearts as the scriptures are twisted to fit the comfort of their own lives. The virtuous woman does not call her own fleshly desires the desires the Lord has given her, but her delight is truly in the Lord and He gives her the very desires of her heart (Psalm 37:4). When these desires are expressed, they will look like this virtuous woman written of here in this last chapter of Proverbs, and are the very expression of the love and virtue that fills her heart by the Holy Spirit because of her faith in the sacrificial work at Calvary, for surely this virtuous life is one of sacrifice!

Your Word for Today

“speak unto the Children of Israel, saying, If a soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the Commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and shall do against any of them (Lev. 4:2).

The words, “through ignorance,” prove that man, whether he be a Chief Priest or a “common person,” cannot know, at least in totality, what sin is. This is humbling and comforting. It reveals that the efficacy of Christ’s Atonement for sin is not to be measured by man’s consciousness of sin, but by God’s measurement of it. To believe this fact fills the heart with a Divine peace.

The Sin Offering was wholly burned outside the camp, but the blood and the fat were offered to God. This double action illuminates the Cross. Jesus suffered “outside the camp,” thereby showing how abhorrent to God is sin; yet, at the same time, was His Blood precious, and the fat, i.e., His inward Personal excellence “most holy.” In fact, the Incense, the Shewbread, the Sin Offering, and the Meal Offering are all named “most holy.” Thus, the Spirit of God, when speaking of Jesus as a Man or as an Offering for sin, repeats with emphasis that He was, in His entire being, “most holy.”

All of this was absolutely necessary if Christ was to serve as the most perfect Sacrifice for sin, at least a Sacrifice which God would accept. God could only accept perfection; therefore, Christ Alone could satisfy these requirements.”

Bread Crumbs “Grace is Greater” February 7

No matter what you face today, God's grace is greater! No matter how long the battle has been raging, God's grace is greater! No matter how depleting the illness, no matter how powerful the disease, God's grace is greater! That sin that has nearly destroyed your family is about to meet its master, for God's grace is greater! The financial disaster that is threatening you and the “inner voice” that says there is no way out, is about to be stopped and silenced. God's grace is greater! Just when you are sure that you could not walk one more step, take one more breath, or handle one more negative emotion, the Spirit of God will rise up within you. Then you will begin to experience the fortitude and supernatural ability to keep moving forward. Why? Because God's grace is greater! Satan will try to tell you that you have used up all of God's compassion, that His mercy has forsaken you, and that His power has deserted you. That is just about the time you will truly experience that God's grace is greater! And when you think that He just could not do it ever again, He will do it one more time. Because …God’s grace is greater! What a mighty God!

Romans 16:24 - The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:25
Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

Strength and honor are what the virtuous woman wears, which is referring to what she is known for. The fruit of her life is that of strength and honor, for she doesn’t rejoice at what she is doing, and neither looks for rewards today, for she knows that her day of rejoicing is to come. This doesn’t sound like the person, who if they do not get what they think they deserve, they will just quit. This virtuous woman looks nothing like most of what is called the church today who demands they are rewarded right now or they will walk away.

This love which has been shed abroad in the heart of the virtuous Bride of Christ (Romans 5:5) will be found rejoicing in the Truth (1 Corinthians 13:6), and not the iniquity that distracts and turns the heart away from the good works she has been ordained to walk in (Ephesians 2:10). Today we rejoice in the Truth, but only as we walk in Truth, and this Truth is Jesus Christ and Him crucified, for there is our first love. If our love isn’t this first love, it is a love that will have its Light removed by the Lord Himself (Revelation 2:4-5). Let us remember today that it is our faithful Lord who is working in us, NOT only to will, but to DO that which is according to His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13). Cling to the cross, which is the only legal place He has made to save and to produce these virtuous works in and through us (Romans 8:2).

Your Word for Today

“and the Priest shall put some of the blood upon the horns of the Altar of sweet incense before the LORD, which is in the Tabernacle of the congregation; and shall pour all the blood of the bullock at the bottom of the Altar of the Burnt Offering, which is at the door of the Tabernacle of the congregation (Lev. 4:7).

The “Altar of Sweet Incense” was the Golden Altar, which sat immediately in front of the Veil that separated the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies in the Tabernacle. Blood was to be applied to the four horns of this Altar, which pointed to all directions of the compass. This signified that Intercession by the Saviour is the same the world over, irrespective of race, color, or creed.

The Blood poured out “at the bottom of the Altar of the Burnt Offering” pertained to the Brazen Altar which sat in front of the Tabernacle.

All of this signified that a man is not sentenced to death because of some very great sin, but, in reality, because of any type of sin, irrespective as to how little it might be. In the Eyes of God, even the smallest sin is so great that to expiate its guilt, all the blood of the spotless Sacrifice must be poured out at the bottom of the Altar. So, to atone for, i.e., cover, the smallest conceivable departure from absolute sinlessness, even that done through ignorance, the whole of Christ’s Blood must be shed. This shows us how terrible, how awful, how desperate that sin actually is, even that which we think to be small.

In order to obtain forgiveness of his sin, the man said nothing and did nothing except to lay his hand upon the head of the spotless substitute, thus transferring his guilt and its doom to the substitute. The Law claimed the man’s life as the just penalty for his sin. The sin being transferred, the Law then claimed the life of the substitute; and directly that life was surrendered, the full claim of the Law was satisfied and the man thereby saved.

The knowledge that he was saved was founded upon two facts outside of himself, i.e., the value of the blood shed for him, and the trustworthiness of the Word spoken to him. On this Divine Foundation rests the Christian’s peace. The knowledge that Christ’s Blood is of infinite value to cleanse all sins, and the conviction that the Word of God, which declares that whoever trusts that Saviour shall never be confounded, is always trustworthy — this double knowledge establishes assurance of Salvation (I Jn. 1:9).”

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:26
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

The virtuous woman which King Lemuel is being instructed by the Lord through His mother to search for, will have a heart after God from which wisdom comes (Proverbs 2:6, Colossians 2:2-3). The wisdom of God is having received His Words of understanding in the heart as one looks to the Savior sent by Him to save their soul. This virtuous woman speaks the law of kindness, which refers to her words that come forth from the abundance of her virtuous heart (Matthew 12:34).

The virtuous woman spoken of in the last chapter of Proverbs is to give us a picture of the Bride of Christ here on the earth today awaiting her glorious husband’s return, being found busy about His business. It is His wisdom, and His kindness that we have received of Him through faith in His precious blood. We have been lifted above the world as on eagles wings (Exodus 19:4), and our Way of Life is above that we may depart from the hell that is below (Proverbs 15:24). Oh the love of Christ for His Bride and our love for our King and Savior, which is all seen in the expression of His virtue we were called unto (2 Peter 1:3-5).

Bread Crumbs “God Still Heals” February 8

There is healing power available in the name of the Lord Jesus. The Bible says that He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. These two Hebrew words in Isaiah 53 (griefs and sorrows) are never used in connection to sin. They are always used in direct references to the healing of the body (griefs) or the healing of the soul (sorrows). This means that if you need a healing in your body, ask the Lord to touch you based upon the price Jesus paid at Calvary. Understand that healing is not limited to just illness, disease, or infirmity in the body. It extends as well to the heart, the emotional side of man. Jesus said that the Spirit of the Lord had anointed Him to “heal the broken hearted.” He also said that He would “set at liberty” those who have been bruised. Has your heart been broken? Is your mind oppressed? Has helplessness and hopelessness been the order of the day for too long? Then go to the Father in faith. Let your faith rest not upon your confession or religious actions, but upon Christ’s finished work. Approach the throne boldly with humility and confidence. The days of Jesus healing the needs of humanity are far from over. Just ask!

Your Word for Today

“command Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the Law of the Burnt Offering: It is the Burnt Offering, because of the burning upon the Altar all night unto the morning, and the fire of the Altar shall be burning in it (Lev. 6:9).

The Burnt Offering was to burn all night. In the morning, dressed in his clean linen garments, the Priest was to gather its ashes and place them beside the Altar. Then, in his garments of beauty, he was to bring them with befitting glory into a clean place, which symbolizes the coming cleansed Millennial Earth. Through this night of mystery, the fragrance of Christ’s offering up of Himself to god ascends continually.

“In the morning,” Christ will appear to His people Israel in His double glory as the white-robed Priest and the Glory-crowned Mediator; and it will then be demonstrated to the world, as here foreshadowed by the honorable treatment of the ashes, that His Person and His Work have been accepted of God.

The fire that consumed the Burnt Offering originally came from Heaven (Lev. 9:24), and was maintained perpetually burning by the unwearied ministry of the Priest. It testified, on the one hand, to the unceasing delight of God in the Sacrifice of Christ, and, on the other hand, to His unceasing hatred of sin. False teachers today put this fire out by denying the doctrines of the Atonement and of the Wrath to come.

Let it never be forgotten:

It is Atonement alone which assuages the Wrath of God (Williams).”

Bread Crumbs “Deliverance” February 9

Deliverance isn’t experienced because of something we do. Deliverance can only come as a result of properly placed faith. It does not matter how zealous you may be or how honest and sincere you are, your labor cannot free you from the dominion of sin. No human effort or religious routine can set you free from outside spiritual forces or ungodly inward bents. Jesus taught that all sin stems from within, from the content of the heart of man. Satan and powers of darkness "fish" for the negative content of our hearts. Temptations are presented, bait is offered, and if we respond in an inappropriate way, sin has the potential of establishing a stronghold in our lives. For victory over sin we must look exclusively to Christ and maintain our faith in His finished work. This gives the Holy Spirit the legal right to free us from each and every stronghold erected by our adversary. It does not matter how long the issue has existed or how many times we may have failed in any certain area. When dealt with biblically, God is always able to free us from sin’s dominion. Once faith is expressed in Christ and the Cross, deliverance is sure to follow!

Luke 21:28 - And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:27
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

The virtuous woman we see in this last chapter of Proverbs refers mainly to the bride of Christ, which He purchased with His own blood on the cross. When one’s faith is biblical faith, which is faith in the cross of Christ alone, for if it is not there, it is not even in Christ, nor is it in the Word of God, there will be the fruit of this virtue which is spoken of here. The Christian has been called unto glory and virtue, but it is the glory and virtue of Christ which we reflect just as the moon reflects the light of the sun.

Peter writes that the first thing to be added to our faith is virtue (2 Peter 1:3-5), and this virtue is here revealed as a faithful life full of good works (Ephesians 2:10), which are found “In Christ”, which always refers to one’s faith “In Christ” and His work at Calvary. May the church awaken unto this place of faithfulness and virtue today as we await our faithful Husband and Lord Jesus Christ. He is coming soon and we do not want to be ashamed, but rather rejoicing as we see Him!

“besides the cakes, he shall offer for his Offering leavened bread with the Sacrifice of thanksgiving of his Peace Offerings (Lev. 7:13).

The Peace Offering for thanksgiving was eaten the same day it was offered; the Peace Offering for a vow, the same day or the next day — because a vow or a voluntary offering necessarily affected the heart more than an ordinary thanksgiving.

This Law taught the offeror to closely associate the death and sufferings of the slain lamb with the blessing for which he gave thanks. It teaches men today the same lesson. To disassociate worship and thanksgiving from the anguish and the shedding of the Blood of the Lord Jesus is to offer to God an abomination (Lev. 7:18), and to bring death into the soul and into the Church.

Ceremonial cleanliness was obligatory before eating the Peace Offering (Lev. 7:20-21). Disobedience in this matter entailed death. To profess faith in the Person and Atonement of Christ, and to claim fellowship with Him, but to be secretly unclean, insures the Wrath of God.

The Sacrifice of Christ and Faith in that Sacrifice purge sin from the Believer. To claim to believe such and then fail to exercise faith in what Christ has done for us at the Cross proclaim hypocrisy or unbelief, or both. Ultimately, judgment is inevitable.”

Bread Crumbs “The Blessed Hope” February 10

The “Blessed Hope” is the term used in scripture to describe the promise of the return of Christ. On the day that Christ ascended to heaven, two angels appeared to Christ’s disciples and asked them why they were gazing into the heavens. The angels declared, “this same Jesus” whom they had just seen ascend into the clouds would come back in the same manner in which He left. In 1 Thessalonians 4, the Bible states that on the day that Jesus returns for His Bride, those who have passed on will be raised first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be changed. In the twinkling of an eye we will be forever altered. Never again will we experience sin, sickness, failure, heartbreak, or defeat. The former things will have all passed away. There will be no more trials, no more temptation, no more arguments, no more doubts, and absolutely no more tears. No wonder the Bible refers to this moment as the “Blessed Hope.” We should live our lives in full view of this remarkable promise. Then the improper emphasis we so often put on the “here and now” would progressively fade away. As believers, let us hold our gaze towards the sunrise of tomorrow! He’s coming back soon!

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:28
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

The virtuous woman raises her children in the admonition of the Lord, and they will rise up and call their mother blessed as they see the fruit of her faithful works. Her husband also praises her for her faithfulness to the family God gave her. Her integrity and virtue does not go unnoticed by her husband or her children.

The body of Christ is this virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31, and through faith in the very work of her husband Jesus Christ on His cross (Romans 7:3), she finds this great virtue to walk in (Ephesians 2:10, Colossians 2:6, 2 Peter 1:3-5). He rejoices over His bride with joy, and He is resting in His love for her, as well as joying over her with singing (Zephaniah 3:17). He is thankful for the bride which His blood purchased, and we should be thankful as well, as we express Him daily among the family of God and all men!
