Your Word for Today

“and Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which He commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD (Lev. 10:1-2).

The fact that these two men were Priests made no difference. They suffered the Judgment of God because they ignored Calvary.

Coals of fire were to be taken from the Brazen Altar, which typified Calvary, and placed on the Golden Altar in the Tabernacle. Incense was then to be poured over those coals of fire, which would fill the Holy Place of the Tabernacle, signifying the Intercession of our Lord on behalf of all the Saints.

The “strange fire” they offered was that taken from some other ignition than the Brazen Altar. It had, therefore, no connection with the Atonement. It was the sin of Cain. It is a sin largely committed today. Jesus said, “I am the Way, no man comes unto the Father but by Me.”

Acceptable worship can only be in the energy of the Holy Spirit, in the truth of the Shed Blood, and in obedience to the inspired Word. The fire of the Holy Spirit associates itself alone with the Blood of the Crucified Saviour; all other fire is “strange fire.” As a result of their disobedience, fire came out from the Holy of Holies and struck dead Nadab and Abihu.

From this we understand that the only thing standing between man and the Wrath of God is the Cross of Christ. That accepted, Wrath subsides. That ignored, Wrath remains!”

Bread Crumbs “The Promise of Salvation” February 11

There is no end to the compassion and mercy of God. He who “spared not His own Son” is not in a hurry to destroy the disobedient. The scriptures say that God experiences no joy from the death and ruination of the wicked. God has done everything possible to make salvation available to all men. He only asks that we accept His provision of salvation. He is gracious to every man and will turn none away. His compassion and mercy does not cease to provide for us after we accept the marvelous provision of His salvation. He is not quick to eliminate us for our mistakes, our ignorance, or even for our rebellion. But, after expounding upon the wonder of God’s patience, longsuffering, and mercy, we must also acknowledge this truth. If we fail to continually accept and walk in the provision offered freely by the Lord in this lifetime, we could face an eternity outside of His presence. His mercy is eternally extended but we must continue to reach out to Him in faith. We must gather to ourselves daily the miracle of salvation or it is possible we could face an eternity of despair and misery. Call on Him today and experience for yourself the sure mercies of the Lord.

Romans 5:8-9 - But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (9) Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:29
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

Many daughters have done virtuously, which means they have done well, but doing virtuous things can be very different from being virtuous, for even the evil do what appears to be good things occasionally. The Bride of Jesus Christ has every opportunity each day to show forth the virtue that we have been called to walk in (2 Peter 1:3-5). Some do virtuous things occasionally, while some walk in virtue and are known by its virtuous fruit.

The only way the virtue of Christ is by the power of the Holy Spirit who works exclusively through the legal means given Him to work in our lives, which is through our faith in the legal work of Jesus Christ at Calvary (Romans 8:2). If we fight to maintain our faith in the cross of Christ, the first thing added to our faith will be virtue (2 Peter 1:5). We have been given everything we need to be able to live this Life of virtue through the means of the cross. Let us hold fast our confidence of this hope firm unto the end, for many are forsaking the way of the cross! Hold fast!

Your Word for Today

“his shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought unto the Priest (Lev. 14:2).

The Priest alone could judge whether a man was a leper or not. Directly a person was declared to be a leper, he was placed without the camp, and compelled, by voice and clothing, to confess himself a leper. Leprosy was a type of sin.

The leper was cleansed by blood, by water, and by oil (Lev. 14:6, 14-15). These symbolized the Blood of Christ, the Word of God, and the Holy Spirit. This triple cleansing restored him to the camp, to the family, and to the Tabernacle. All were based upon the preciousness and efficacy of the shed blood. Apart from the Blood of Jesus moral reformation and spiritual power are impossible.

Excepting the washing of himself in water, the leper did nothing for his cleansing; the Priest did everything. The leper is the sinner, the Priest is Jesus. The Priest “went forth” out of the camp to where the leper was; the leper was “brought” to him. So Christ came down from Heaven to where the sinner is; the Holy Spirit brings the sinner to Him.

The carnal mind finds this Chapter tiresome, uninteresting, and unpleasant; however, to the spiritual mind it is humbling and comforting. Love untiring and infinite wisdom are the foundation of all of these Statutes given in these Chapters. The Reader finds himself as a moral leper in the tender, patient, wise, and loving hands of our Heavenly Priest; accordingly, we should study every word with humility and adoration.”

Bread Crumbs “Before You Asked” February 12

Long before you ever asked Him about it, God had already made arrangements to meet your need, and sent it on its way! God sees the problem long before we do and sets up provision that will arrive at the most opportune moment. It is true that God has missed many an opportunity to be early. On some occasions, He may even seem to have arrived too late to achieve the desired and necessary rescue. But if one will simply... wait, pray, trust, and believe, they will see the mighty hand of God move miraculously on their behalf. The journey of faith is never an easy one. It demands an unshakeable stability that not everyone is willing to express. We always love to hear a good testimony, but no one is excited about traveling through the test. No matter how you feel about your current situation, rest in this truth. God was fully aware of what you would be going through today, long before you ever arrived in your present situation. He declares Himself the Faithful One, and faithful He is! Rely on Him and call on His name! Having done all that you can, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord!

Isaiah 65:24 - And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:30
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

A woman may be known for the favor she shows, or she may be known for her outward beauty, both of which are vain if that is what she is using to get anything in this life. It is the woman who fears the Lord who will be praised. The fear of the Lord is where this woman of virtue finds confidence (Proverbs 14:26-27). The fear of the Lord is the proper estimated value of God’s worth, which is only seen through faith in what His Son Jesus Christ did for all at the cross.

We live in a world today that is all about what we see outwardly, but the Lord doesn’t give it the time of day, and only looks on the heart of man (1 Samuel 16:7), and that is what He deals with. Jesus said that men drew near and honored Him with their lips outwardly, but their HEARTS were far from Him (Matthew 15:8). It is only with the heart that man believes unto righteousness (Romans 10:10), which always points to Christ and His Righteous work at the cross! Always remember, child of God, that every time faith comes, its fruit will be that of Righteousness!
Glory to God!!

God can take one who has been vile, vulgar, immoral, and unclean their entire life, but at the moment that person places simple faith in the person of Christ and his finished work, instantly that person is justified, all sins forgiven, under the blood!! Now that’s good news!! The charges are dropped, and no one, despite how they feel about you, no one can cancel this great position you have in Christ!! Hallelujah! #justified

Your Word for Today

“and the leper in whom the plague is, his clothes shall be rent, and his head bare, and he shall put a covering upon his upper lip, and shall cry, Unclean, unclean. All the days wherein the plague shall be in him he shall be defiled; he is unclean: he shall dwell alone; without the camp shall his habitation be (Lev. 13:45-46).

Leprosy being a type of sin, we are here told the disposition of such sin.

1. “His clothes shall be rent”: The coat was to be ripped up the back, signifying, spiritually, that sinners are undone.

2. “His head bare”: Under Old Testament Law, the head bare signified that there was no protection against the Judgment of God.

3. “He shall put a covering upon his upper lip, and shall cry, Unclean, unclean”: When an individual is asked if they are saved, and they exclaim, “I’m a member of thus-and-so Church,” they are, in essence, saying, “Unclean, unclean.” No Church, nor anything else, can cleanse the sinner, that being effected only by the shed Blood of Christ and our Faith in that cleansing stream.

4. “All the days wherein the plague shall be in him, he shall be defiled”: As long as sin remains, and it will forever remain until the person confesses Christ as Saviour and Lord, such a person will be unclean. There is no cleansing for sin outside of the precious, shed Blood of Jesus Christ.

5. “He shall dwell alone”: Irrespective of the noise and the clamor of society, or association with people, there is a terrible loneliness to sin.

Bread Crumbs “Exceeding Abundantly Above” February 13

What are you believing God for? Do you need a raise, a reason, a direction, or an answer? How about the salvation of a loved one or the healing of your body? Are you in need of being loved, finding encouragement, having hope, or continual comfort? Do you need deliverance, freedom from oppression, or a solution to the impossible? The Bible declares that the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is an Almighty God. There is nothing too hard for Him! There is not anything that is hard or difficult for Him. He has absolutely no limitations, no adversaries that are worthy to stand before Him, and no elements in the universe that He does not control. If what you require in your present circumstance does not exist, He has the ability to create it for you out of nothing. Absolutely no barriers exist for the God of the Bible. And whatever you are thinking that you want God to do for you, I promise you, it is too small. We cannot even imagine in our wildest dreams the things that God has prepared for us. So do not look to man - look to God! He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ever ask or think. That is guaranteed!

Ephesians 3:20-21 - Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, (21) Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 31:31
Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

The Lord Himself when He comes will reward His Bride with the work of her hands (Matthew 16:27), and the work of her hands will be her praise in the gates, which speaks of places of authority. The true works of God’s people are the works of the Holy Spirit. Every treasure we are told to lay up for ourselves in heaven (Matthew 6:20), are the things the Lord has been able to overcome us enough to bring to pass in and through us. Every reward we will receive from the Lord is that which He has been able to do in and through us as our faith remains exclusively in His Righteous work at Calvary.

The Bride of Christ, this virtuous woman spoken of here in the last chapter of Proverbs is soon to be taken out of the world, and the world will surely be in a terrible way at that time. If we are the salt and the light of the world today, and then we are gone, you must imagine the horror of that thought! The Bride of Christ is the virtue of Christ in the earth today, and when we are gone, everything that had virtue will be gone in the twinkling of an eye!
Coming soon to a theatre near you! Praise the Lord forever!!

“speak unto the Children of Israel, and say unto them, When any man has a running issue out of his flesh, because of his issue he is unclean. Every bed, whereon he lies that has the issue, it is unclean: and every thing, whereon he sits, shall be unclean (Lev. 15:2, 4).

The lessons of this Fifteenth Chapter of Leviticus are:

First, the Holiness of God and of His Dwelling-place.

Second, the loving and minute interest that He takes in the habits of His Children. Nothing was too small or too private for Him. Their clothing and their health concerned Him deeply.

Third, the corruption of fallen nature; it defiled. Walking or sleeping, sitting, standing or lying, its every touch conveyed pollution — a painful lesson for proud humanity.

Fourth, the cleansing power of the Shed Blood and the sanctifying virtue of the Word of God are the only way of cleansing and Holiness.

Thus, the nature of sin is exhibited in this Chapter. Even that which was unavoidable defiled.

One of the sins, perhaps the greatest sin, of the modern Church is that it seems to little understand the terrible horror of sin. To properly understand that horror, one must understand the price that was paid to assuage its stain — the Death of the Son of God.

Justification assures of Salvation from the guilt of sin; Sanctification effects separation from the filth of sin.”

Bread Crumbs “His Word Never Fails” February 14

Believing God is never as simple as it sounds. When the Lord first reveals something to us there is an extra ordinary excitement that courses through our beings. At the moment we receive that Word, there is no doubt, no fear, and no hesitation to believe. In our minds, what God has spoken to our hearts, what He has revealed, is sure to occur. In our exuberance and excitement we may even share with others what God has given. But then the test comes, the test of time. If we were only required to wait a few minutes, a few hours, or even just a few days, we could easily hold on to that promise. But in some cases it may be years before that whispered Word of God comes to pass. And in our humanness, our frailty, doubts and fears arise. When we are far removed from the moment of revelation we begin to wonder if we really even heard from God at all. The author of the book of Joshua reminded the Israelites that God had never failed to keep His Word to them. Every single thing He spoke to them came to pass. And friend, everything He has ever spoken to you will come to pass as well.

Joshua 21:45 - There failed not ought of any good thing which the Lord had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Philippians 1:1
Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:

Because we live, not by bread alone, but by every Word of God (Luke 4:4), God always has a Word for us in every situation of life, for if He didn’t we could not live by faith that comes by hearing Him (Romans 10:17). He is not quiet, as spiritual as that statement tries to make us look, for if He is quiet, we cannot hear Him, and again, we live by what we hear Him speaking to us (Matthew 4:4). I tell everyone who claims they are going through a season they say God is not speaking to them, to repent and return to the hearing place, which is faith in the cross of Jesus Christ!

Paul and Timothy instructed by the Lord Himself to write to the Saints, Preachers and Deacons of Philippi, and Oh what a wonderful picture of God’s care for His people we see as He reaches for His people. He cares and will always send His Word (Psalm 107:20) to direct, correct, comfort and to strengthen His people, for we live by faith! There is only one object of faith, and that is Jesus Christ and His Redemption work at the cross, as that allows our faith in God’s written Word to be legitimate, and the Holy Spirit to guide us into more Truth! Truth spoken always shows us His Righteousness (Proverbs 12:17), and this is the only path we will find His leading!

Your Word for Today

“and this shall be a Statute forever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger who sojourns among you: For on that day shall the Priest make an Atonement for you, to cleanse you, that you may be clean from all your sins before the LORD (Lev. 16:29-30).

Leviticus, Chapter 16 describes the Great Day of Atonement. It occurred once a year. There was no other day like it. It dealt with the sins of the whole nation for twelve months. It foreshadowed the Lamb of God taking away the sin of the world (Jn. 1:29).

Abel’s lamb redeemed one man; the Pascal Lamb, one family; the Day of Atonement Lamb, one nation; the Lamb of Calvary, the whole world (Jn. 1:29).

This was the only day in the year that the High Priest entered the Most Holy Place. Enveloped in a cloud of Incense, he presented the blood of the Burnt Offering and of the Sin Offering, which he sprinkled once upon the Golden Mercy Seat, for God, knowing its value, needed but the one presentation. Then the blood was sprinkled seven times before the Mercy Seat. “Seven” being God’s number of perfection and totality, as well as universality, proclaimed the total effectiveness of the one presentation.

The Tabernacle and all connected therewith were cleansed, as well as the nation. The atoning Sacrifice of Calvary not only redeemed man so that he can dwell with God, and God can dwell with him, but also made the sin-drenched creation suitable for God. Calvary paid it all!”

Bread Crumbs “Keeping Confidence” February 15

There are many things in life that we would be better off throwing away. These things include sin, bad habits, “spiritual weights,” and even friendships that are not profitable to our spiritual well-being. Faith in our own abilities, knowledge, zealousness, or special “skill sets” should be cast aside as well. We do not ever want to hinder what God’s Spirit desires to do through us. The believer must ever hold fast to his trust, his dependence, his reliance, his confidence, in the Lord God. We are to ever remain sure and assured of God’s ability and His willingness to do that which is best for us. When God is in control and piloting the flight of our lives there will be destinations we arrive at that are marvelous, magnificent, and monumental. We would be foolish to short circuit or eliminate these potential blessings all because something or someone has caused us to doubt God. There is a great reward ahead for all who will simply trust the Lord! So whatever you do, do not fail to continuously believe God in every area of your life. Do not give up or quit! You just might be mere moments away from a miracle!

Hebrews 10:35 - Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Philippians 1:2
Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul the Apostle of Jesus Christ, writes this encouraging letter to the Philippians, and to us as well, for the Apostle Paul is, in the New Covenant to the church, what the prophets were in the Old Covenant to Israel. He reminds them that our faithful God and Father and His Son, The Lord Jesus Christ has more grace and peace to be multiplied to us. One of the most important lessons the child of God will ever know and learn is that Grace is what God does when He finds anyone’s faith in the sacrifice of His Son, whether it was the first day you believed or today after having been born again for forty years.

Grace only comes into the lives of the believer who has his or her faith in the death of Christ (Galatians 2:21), for there exclusively can the fruit of righteousness take place. Upon being born again, the Christian was declared Righteous (2 Corinthians 5:21), was made a servant of Righteousness (Romans 6:17-18), so that our journey of serving our faithful Lord could begin. We are now able to serve our God EVERY DAY in His presence without fear in Righteousness and Holiness (Luke 1:74-75). If one’s faith is right, the result is ALWAYS the fruit of Righteousness! This is precisely why we should hunger and thirst for His Righteousness.

Your Word for Today

“speak unto the Children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the Feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are My Feasts (Lev. 23:2).

Israel’s sacred year contained one weekly and seven annual Feasts, but the annual Feasts were related to the weekly Feast. The weekly Feast was the Sabbath; the seven annual Feasts were: Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, Pentecost, Trumpets, Atonement, and Tabernacles.

Leviticus 23:2 declares these to be “Feasts of Jehovah,” and the words, “even these are My Feasts,” are added for emphasis. Alas! When our Lord came in the flesh, they had ceased to be “Feasts of Jehovah,” and had become “feasts of the Jews” (Jn. 2:13; 5:1; 6:4; 11:55).

A similar change may be witnessed presently in what professes to be the Kingdom of God. The Feast of the Sabbath stood apart as being God’s rest. It was a Prophecy and a Promise of the rest in Christ that remains to the people of God.

The foundation of the seven Feasts was Grace; the topstone, Glory; for the first Feast — Passover — proclaimed Redemption through the Blood, and the last Feast — Tabernacles — pictured the Millennium. Between these two Feasts came the sheaf of Firstfruits, i.e., the Resurrection of Christ; Pentecost, i.e., the descent of the Holy Spirit, made possible by the Crucifixion of Christ; and the Great Day of Atonement, when Israel shall look upon Him Whom they have pierced, and, repentant, receive the new heart predicted by Ezekiel.

The Command to do no servile work is repeated ten times in connection with these Feasts. Man’s activities were forbidden to intrude themselves into a Salvation which was Divine and Perfect (Williams).”

Bread Crumbs “The Spirit of Consolation” February 16

The battles that revolve around the Christian may come in many different forms and can cause shipwreck to a believers’ faith. We will all face strong exasperating assaults from demonic forces that attempt to get us to quit, to give up, to throw in the towel. Far too often those of us on the sidelines, are quick to judge, to demean, and, God forbid, even attack those in trials. Instead of adding to the heavy load of the embattled believer, we should be a source of encouragement, of love, of understanding, and kindness. It is true that some situations people bring on themselves. At other times a trial may come and involve no failure on the part of the one being tested. In either case, the real need is to encourage and comfort the one who has been brought low. We should always bear in mind that tomorrow we may find ourselves in the very same shape and position as the Saint we see struggling today. So love somebody back to spiritual health. Lend a heart and lend a hand. Give a hearing ear and an encouraging word. Let us take those who are downcast, downtrodden, depressed, distressed, and despondent and lift them up with the love of Jesus and with the Spirit of consolation.

Hebrews 12:12-13 - Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; (13) And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Philippians 1:3
I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

Every time the Apostle Paul thought of the Saints in Philippi, he gave thanks to God for them. Do we see the children of God today as what God has made them in Christ, or are we caught up looking for all the imperfections that can be seen in every one of us? The more we look to the cross of Jesus Christ, the more our eyes will be opened to the reality of what God is doing in and through the church today, and we will surely be a thankful people.

This by no means excuses us from ministering the Truth of the Cross of Jesus Christ no matter who likes it or not. Many today say we need to just stick with the love of God, and not so much the cross, but without the cross and faith maintained there alone, love is actually growing cold (Matthew 24:12), while iniquity is abounding. Never forget that the only love that abounds is our FIRST LOVE (Revelation 2:4-5), for there our love rejoices in THE TRUTH (1 Corinthians 13:6). The message of the cross offered us the love of God, and our faith there alone will allow that FIRST LOVE to rejoice in the Truth and abound (Philippians 1:9)!
