I just had this thought just now so I thought I'd share and maybe get others' opinions and know if anybody knows anything from the bible.

Did Jesus Christ have deep intellectual conversations with animals? I have lots of conversations with my cat. I think I can read my cat's mind a lot. I think of him like my own son.

I know it sounds weird I might look crazy, but it's fun for me.
 
animals have no soul! so i dont think the lord talked to the animals back then! but then again i could be wrong!
 
Animals like cats don't tend to have minds like humans so they don't think crazy stuff like plotting revenge, building up hatred, committing the most incredibly disgusting crimes, and extremely well planned and intelligently detailed murders and evil acts. There are evil animals like the killer whale from then news. I just don't think cats would eat their owners for food. If you think about it, cats would die first before we die under the condition that there a major famine and everybody is starving to death and apocalypse has come. They have less body mass but a higher metabolism rate for body size and mass compared to us. That is why they die early biologically. The question is, would they eat their dead owner? I would be horrified to see my cat eating me out of desperation.

If I had to have a choice to eat my cat to get to heaven while traveling on the long, hard, arduous road alone through the middle of nowhere, or die of starvation, I think I would choose to die of starvation because I don't think heaven would be a heaven anymore without him.
 
It seems clear that animals aren't even capable of having deep intellectual conversations. If they could, they would, since many have the vocal capacity for carrying out such conversations (e.g. the African Gray parrot). Apparently the only thing many lack is the intellectual capacity.

This appears to be the witness of Scripture too:

Job 35:11 who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth and makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?’

Job 39:13–17 “The wings of the ostrich wave proudly, but are they the pinions and plumage of love? For she leaves her eggs to the earth and lets them be warmed on the ground, forgetting that a foot may crush them and that the wild beast may trample them. She deals cruelly with her young, as if they were not hers; though her labor be in vain, yet she has no fear, because God has made her forget wisdom and given her no share in understanding.​

Talking to your pets in the sense that you would talk to a human baby is fine. But trying to carry out a deep intellectual conversation with an animal is crazy, especially since basic observation tells us that animals don't have deep intellectual thoughts.

For example, what has your cat ever done that would make you think "Hey, this cat probably has something interesting to say about the effects of technology on social childhood development!"

Actually, animals, like cats, do all sorts of things that we would find morally disgusting if we thought animals had the capacity to be moral creatures.

For example, my step-mom's cat once ate its kittens.

If that cat was thinking anything, I'm pretty sure it was crazy stuff. But I don't think the cat was thinking anything, which is why we didn't send the cat to a mental institution or spend any time looking for a good therapist for the cat.
 
well the bible says something about the Lord testing us to prove that we are just like animals, we all return to the grave.

animals bring comfort, fun, and can teach us many lessons about training, trust,

watch the movie with sandra bullock where she portrays an alcoholic trying to get set free, she has to learn to trust a horse.

sometimes it is easier to build report with animals because ones like cats and dogs, will not hurt you like people or humans can.

but it depends on who you are.

there are many who also abuse their animals.

so, anyone and everyone will judge you for whatever you are doing in and with your life, just like i'm being judged for how the Lord has made me

I knew the Serpent and the donkey would get mentioned eventually. But these really don't count towards answering the question since they are clearly portrayed as supernatural extraordinary events. The serpent speaking is induced by Satan (Rev. 12.9, 20.2) and the donkey has a supernatural occurrence happen to it ("Then the Lord opened the mouth of the donkey..." Numb. 22.28).

So these events don't tell us anything about how animals normally operate or about the natural capacities that animals have.... anymore than Moses striking the rock and water pouring out of it tells us about the natural properties of rocks. I don't take that story and deduce that all rocks or even most rocks contain large amounts of water.
 
It was exaggeration. I was just slightly kidding and joking about me talking to my cat intellectually. I had or have this habit of telling my mom that I like doing that.

I know that it is like a magic and witchcraft kind of thing. I have read in the bible.

I just used to have fun getting those reactions of "he's immature and sick", from my mom.

I still love my cat because he's all I have when I'm alone in the house. He doesn't come to me all the time. He stays alone, but he did come to me to sleep at my feet to comfort me when I woke up from a nightmare, screaming in shock, a couple days ago. It was during daytime or afternoon. He likes to come to me and sleep at my feet. I'm not obsessed over my cat to the point that I forget about Jesus.
 
In reality, I talk to myself a lot. I think out loud, talking.

Well, in the start before Adam and Eve sinned, God told Adam to give each animal a name, and that both he and Eve would reign over the animals, also taking care of them. So I do beleive Adam and Eve might have talked and been friends to the animals as well.

I even beleive animals can also sense more of God's presence, like with the fact that many animals can sense easier if there is anything bad/evil over a person or another animal etc... Also now we shouldn't forget that God is All Powerful, and I do beleive that animals can understand and know Who He Is. Besides, why shouldn't God even manage talking to animals, when He is the one who created them and gave them life as much as with creating us humans and giving us life? I beleive that God might have created animals for a much more reason than for them to just being silly and simpleminded, and I beleive animals might have more intelligence of understanding than many wants to beleive.
 
St. Francis of Assissi and his love for animals come to mind.

In Catholicism, on St. Francis's feast day (the day he died) pet owners take their pets to church to be blessed.

Ha ha, that's awesome. I wish everyone brought their pets to church on Sunday.

Also, sort of related to the topic, I just read this story about a Harvard scientist who has recently been found to be tampering with the data about the human like capacities of animals:

I'm not surprised at all by the fact that a scientist would tamper with the data and be overly eager to read their pet theories (no pun intended) into the data... but I am surprised that one has been caught so publicly.
 
My bird is awesome. He said his first word yesterday and adores everyone in my family. He comes when called, he chirps back when talked to and he knows when NOT to do something but keeps trying anyways. Punishment: the cage :) I totally love my pets, they deserve to be treated kindly and with respect and we talk to them all the time. They do seem to understand alot.
 
This is debatable considering how I've actually sat down and talked to my dog when I still had him and prayed over a horse for its healing and to become better than he was before he went lame. Both situations, the animals seemed to have at least a basic if not comprehensive understanding of what I was saying/doing. I guess it varies sorta and is highly debateable but I'm not one to debate so this is my opinion as I see it. ^.^ Hope this helps.
