Wow now that needs to be made a testimony And yes I also was like that to soft and easily bruised so much so I began to not say what I really believe or think just to not be attacked but you will find that after being in heated debates for a time you begin to thicken your skin.

Jesus was preaching under the Law of Moses to Israel in the 4 gospels, so of course there are many. You can also find complementary passages if you so desire, the most popular is of course John 3:16, but it does not change that fact.

Take the passage you posited for us from Luke 10, where the lawyer asks the Lord, "Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" The Lord Jesus replied (in essence), 'keep the commandments'. The lawyer's response to Jesus' teaching is found in the verse from that passage that you did not include, so lets go there.

Before the mystery that was revealed by Paul, in time past, Israel had to show their faith in God by obeying the commandments. It was not obeying the Law that saves them in the end, of course, it was faith, but that was the way ordained by God at Mount Sinai.

That is why what Jesus told the lawyer made sense. Even when Jesus expanded the concept of neighbor to be more than just fellow Jews, the principle is still the same, obey the 2 greatest commandments, and he shall have eternal life.

For us, our righteousness is now by faith, without the Law, as Paul explained clearly in Romans 3:21

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

We are righteous in the "but now" time period, without the law.

That option was not avaliable in time past, during the 4 gospels.

Great observation, thank you for sharing that. Bible should be read word by word and slowly exactly like you did there, pausing and really taking the Word in. Different parts of a sentence each carry a ton of info.

Relic is right that we must not take any man's word for explaining God's ways.

I was told that all scripture, including all of the OT was of God and to understand I must understand the OT. I was steeped in the NT and what my church told me but I believed the NT was truth and the OT contained things (light the sacrificial system) that wasn't truth any longer. I was told it was of God and God was truth. If I saw disagreements between the OT and NT then they said I needed to study for God is one and all scripture must agree.

So I began studying. They were right! Many things accepted in main stream religion is not. The occult has crept in and the mess is deep. It started so far back that changing the Sabbath to the day they worshiped the sun or Sunday, saying Mary changed it, was the beginning.

I can almost hear people saying I must believe that we should slaughter animals, in their ignorance of scripture!!!

It's disappointing that you don't understand the New Covenant. The Pharisees didn't have the Holy Spirit, so they were teachers of the law. Jesus said that He would give us the Holy spirit, who would guide us into all truth.

it is unclear how you get this opinion of me based on my quoting Christ to another person, arguing that yes we do need to listen to "the ministers of the new & better covenant" -- this very role being by the appointment of the Holy Spirit and their very written words being breathed by the Holy Spirit?
