I love Paul's letter to the Ephesians. It contains some of the most valuable insights into the Christian faith. One such insight is found in Ephesians 2:14 which says, "He (Jesus) is our peace..." Let's break this phrase down a little bit to get a fuller understanding.
"He" - Refers to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. His purpose on Earth was to die for the sins of the world (our sins included). His resurrection from the dead gives us all hope of eternal life if we choose to believe in Him.
"is" - Look at the tense of the verb. It is present tense. This tells us that no matter how many times we read Ephesians 2:14, we know that Jesus is always our peace.
"our" - Refers to us who have committed our lives to Jesus Christ. We are all in the body of Christ regardless of denomination, race, age, or gender.
"peace" - Refers to our right relationship with God. When we come to Jesus Christ by faith, the rift between us and God is resolved.
So, basically this phrase states that Jesus Christ is our present source of peace with God.
