[TD="colspan: 3, align: left"]When you see someone receiving a miraculous healing or financial breakthrough, do you ask, “What about me, Lord?” I believe that the leper who came to Jesus must have asked the same question.

He must have heard or seen from a distance, since he was not permitted to be in public places by the law, how Jesus had healed the sick. So he had no doubt that Jesus could heal him, but he was not sure if Jesus would. He said to Jesus, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” (Matthew 8:2) He was confident of the power of God, but not the love of God for him.

Like the leper, maybe you don’t have a problem believing that Godcan give you your miracle, since He is Almighty God. But you are wondering if He will do it for you. My friend, let Jesus’ actions and answer to the leper settle this question once and for all. He stretched forth His hand, touched the leper and said, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately, the leper was healed.

I want you to notice that Jesus touched the leper. He could have healed him from a distance with just a spoken word. He had healed others this way as in the case of the centurion’s servant and the Syro-Phoenician woman’s daughter. So why did He touch the leper?

Jesus knew that for so many years, the leper had been cut off from his family and society, so he must have been feeling dehumanized.

I believe that Jesus touched him to make him feel human again, to make him feel loved and accepted again. His touch was His love language to the leper.

Can you see God’s heart of love here? Can you see how much He loved the leper? That is how much He loves you! The day that you come to know God’s heart of love and believe that He wants you blessed more than you want to be blessed is the day that you receive your miracle!

Beloved, catch a glimpse of God’s heart of love, and you will believe that He is not only able, but also willing to make you whole![/TD]

This is so encouraging for me to read today. It is important to Jesus that we have a good knowing that He loves us. How awesome is that! He cares how we feel. And He knows how much we need to know we are loved and accepted as we are. It's an insult to not believe He loves us after all He has done and all He has told us in the Bible. But even then He won't hold that against us. We just miss out on the joy and power in our lives we could have had if we trusting and believed in His love.

The Bible says that God SO LOVED the world. For years my church gave verbal assent to the word "love" but most often "to love" was thought to be a mamzy pamzy word. We were taught that those who talked about loving others were just trying to excuse sin. But in all truth., loving is the epitome of the work of God. And something that is not possible to do without Jesus in our hearts.

It is the highest calling. How neat is it that Jesus touched the leper? Jesus knew he had not been touched for so long and that he was by all definitions "unacceptable". How often do we feel unaccepted? Getting a revelation that we are totally acceptable in the Beloved is a major breakthrough for many of us. It enables us to walk in this world with an assurance and a confidence as we go about our lives before people. Even the most humble and shy people can be secure when they know they are loved by God and are part of the "Beloved"

And it keeps going back to knowing who you are IN Christ and that Jesus gave us the gift of being accepted 100% in Him. That He does the changing and we do the following. Having the knowledge of this truth and believing it makes everything possible. Faith makes all things possible and it is the victory that over comes the world. (those hymns come to mind) Having faith in the love of God changes everything. It makes us able to go out the door and meet the challenges of the people we have to do with and the situations that will come our way that day.

Interesting too, getting a fresh revelation of His love each day is so important. After reading His Word and being built up and reminded again about His love for me, I'm able to meet the challenges today and head out to town and deal with whatever comes.

This also contrasts the law of Moses in the now obsolete Old Covenant and the grace of Christ in the New Covenant. The law demands - grace supplies.

The law of Moses says that the leper is not to be touched and yet that's the very thing Jesus does to him. The law demands perfection - Jesus supplies that for us.

Yes Bruce., I come from a very straight laced Baptist back round. Where love was deserved and earned like the idea of respect. You want it?? You EARN it!!

The concept that the love we have in Jesus is a judicial legally binding love was a major revelation!! Jesus EARNED it. I got it. It is legally binding in Him. It is strong and solid IN Him. I can always count on it because it depends on HIM.

It just gives so much incentive in my life to be able to do what needs to be done today. It takes the fear out of life and puts in a strong and solid security in knowing He will not leave me or forsake me because of the standing He has given me.

Love and grace are not for sissy's!!! it's not the milk of the Word it is the MEAT.

Also wanted to add before heading out the door. This sort of confidence is a fruit of the Spirit. It's something we get when we believe. One of the young believers here AbigailZ said in one of the threads that she would not have believed the grace message even if someone gave her their brain she just couldn't see what grace meant until she got a revelation of it from the Bible and the Holy Spirit.

She got preached to about the love of God in Christ and got a revelation. Just like me too! And all of us who know about grace. The love of God changes our lives and makes us able to deal with what comes our way. From the young Christian to the older Christian.

The IVP New Testament Commentary

The Leper Has Perfect Trust in Jesus' Power (8:2)

He knows Jesus is able to make him clean if he wants to; he is not using if you are willing as a religious way of saying, "I doubt that you can, but I would be happy if you might do something for me anyway." Yet the text demonstrates, as has been already noted, that his trust in Jesus' power is not presumption either.

Doubting Jesus' love for himself is exactly that..... doubt & unbelief. So, no, he didn't doubt Jesus' love. He understands Jesus' authority & that there's no "automatic" "He will do it because I ask".
Even then there was no "name it & claim it."

So you're saying that this scripture is "New testament"? I thought you HG'ers believed that the 4 gospels were "old covenant" because the old covenant was still in effect?

Can you HG'ers please make up my mind? You can't swap it back & forth to suit your purpose.

Unfortunately Stephen it is obvious you have no idea what some people are actually saying about the grace of Christ and the gospel. Perhaps malice can making us blind to what is really being said and in the context in which it is given at the time?

It looks like the leper found out that Jesus in fact was "willing" to heal him and Jesus touched him and that Jesus loved him unconditionally. The leper found out about the true love of God for him through a few means.

Knowing the love of God for us is mandatory in order to grow up in Him. ( Eph. 3:19 ) If you are a minister - you should know these things. I pray that you do know about the true love of God for people and tell your people about the love of God for them and that it is unconditional.

Please explain whether or not Jesus' teachings are OT.

Please explain whether or not Jesus' teachings are OT.

I believe that Jesus was the greatest law preacher to those that were self-righteous. To them Jesus gave them the Law of Moses on steroids to expose their need of a Savior.

I also believe that Jesus was the greatest grace preacher to those that knew that they needed a Savior. - to these He spoke of the grace of God that was to be revealed.

So, unless you have a specific scripture in mind - I know of an article that shows these truths out perfectly in my mind. I'll go hunt it down for you - although I know already you won't like it but others reading this thread will.

Please explain whether or not Jesus' teachings are OT.

Found one that might help to illustrate what I was saying about the words of Jesus. I like to use this site sometimes as it has at the bottom of the article a place where people can ask questions and I find that helpful too in my learning.

How Should We Read the Words of Jesus?

Jesus is the greatest preacher of all time. He told stories and preached sermons the whole world needs to hear. The genius of Jesus is that he often preached one message with two punchlines. If you were confident of your own righteousness, you got law, but if you were not, you got grace.

Consider Jesus’ story of the Pharisee and the tax collector (Luke 18:9–14). Both men went to the temple to pray. The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself. His prayer was a résumé. He thanked God that he was not like other men and bragged about his fasting and tithing.

But the tax collector stood at a distance and prayed just seven words: “God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” Jesus ends the story with a bombshell: “The tax collector went home justified before God.”

How does this parable make you feel? Does it fill you with joy or resentment?
Your response to the story is your response to the gospel.

If you identify with the sinful tax collector, then this story is good news. Really? He went home justified? That’s the scandal of grace right there. God justifies sinners (Romans 4:5).

Search the parable for evidence of the tax collector’s good works or merit, and you’ll find nothing. Grace is for the undeserving. It’s for those without résumés.

But if you are confident of your self-righteousness, this story is not good news at all. “Wait a second. I fast. I tithe. I am better than other people. Jesus, what are you saying?” Jesus doesn’t mince his words. “Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled” (Luke 18:14).

That’s a hard word for a hard heart. It’s a word that condemns the self-righteous and silences the boastful. It’s a word of law for those who don’t see their need for grace.

Jesus is brilliant at giving people exactly what they need. Consider the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11–32). Some people love this story, others hate it. I’ve had people tell me, “I feel bad for the older brother. He worked so hard.” They say this because they are working hard.

They are good and decent and can’t understand why Jesus would throw a party for prodigals and not for them. It troubles them that we are inside whooping it up while they’re outside working on their résumés.

The story is real. Every one of us is in it and everyone is invited to the party. Grace is for all. But you’re going to have trouble receiving it if you think of your heavenly Father as an employer. And that’s the whole point. You’re going to have to change your mind about God or you will never enjoy his love.
Words mean different things to different people.

If you identify with the tax collector or the prodigal, the words of Jesus are packed with radical grace. You’ll read them with praise and thanksgiving and whoops of joy. But if you identify with the Pharisee or the older brother, his words are extremely unsettling. They are serious words, not fun at all.

Yet if you allow them, the words of Jesus will change you. They will strip you of your religion and reveal your need for grace.

Let me ask you bluntly, 'cause I don't have an answer yet.

DOES HG'ERS BELIEVE JESUS'S TEACHINGS BEFORE THE CRUCIFIXION ARE OLD COVENANT? YES, OR NO?

Let me ask you bluntly, 'cause I don't have an answer yet.

DOES HG'ERS BELIEVE JESUS'S TEACHINGS BEFORE THE CRUCIFIXION ARE OLD COVENANT? YES, OR NO?

I don't know what all other people believe about every teaching from Jesus but I believe there are some elements of His teachings that were for those that lived under the Law.

As, I said - Jesus gave the Law to those that were self-righteous. These do not apply to the believer in Christ now after the cross.

Give me an example and I will tell you what I believe.

To me, the fact that Jesus touched the leper points to His love and compassion for the infirmity of the man. He didn't run from the man. He stood still, allowed the man to approach Him and stand close enough for Jesus to touch him.

In Mark 1:41 we read And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.

It was the compassion of Jesus that spurred Him to touch the leper. And it is the compassion of Jesus that reaches down to touch each one of us as He helps us in our infirmities.

Hebrews 4:15 tells us For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin. Jesus has been touched with the feeling of our infirmities and that is why He is able to succour us (Heb 2:17-18 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted).

Oh, yes, the compassion and the love of our wonderful, beloved Savior reaches into the very depths of our hearts and heals us. So what are we going to do when we see the infirm of this world? Are we going to turn our backs, or are we going to compassionately and lovingly reach out and touch?

Let me ask you bluntly, 'cause I don't have an answer yet.

HYPER-GRACE: JESUS’ PRE-CALVARY TEACHINGS IRRELEVANT

Are Christ’s teachings before He went to the cross irrelevant for believers?

This hyper-grace pastor, Joseph Prince, writes: “There is a lot of confusion and wrong believing in the church today because many Christians read their Bibles without rightly dividing the old and new covenants. They don’t realize that even some of the words which Jesus spoke in the four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) are part of the old covenant. They were spoken before the cross as He had not yet died. The new covenant begins only after the cross, when the Holy Spirit was given on the Day of Pentecost” (p. 92, “Destined to Reign” by Joseph Prince).

But here is what the words of God say---->>>>>
2 John 9-11

[SUP]9 [/SUP]Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
[SUP]11 [/SUP]For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

nonsense... as usual for you, your malice is blinding you....the fact is that the New Covenant did not start until after the cross.

All scriptures are useful for teaching and instruction and no one said that "JESUS’ PRE-CALVARY TEACHINGS IRRELEVANT" . That is your twisted wording and not the person you are attempting to malign again with your half-truths and deception.

Some of the words Jesus spoke was the Old Covenant Law to those that were self-righteous. He also spoke words of grace too to those that knew they needed Him.

It is true that we need to rightly divide the Old Covenant and the New Covenant which we know is an aversion to you and your constant condemnation, hatred, demonic, accursedness...etc...because this was the ministry of the Old Covenant and that is in your posts.

Come on over into the New Covenant so that you don't have to continuously condemn and malign and slander people with your Old Covenant mindset and hatred.

And "abiding in the doctrine of Christ" is believing in the finished work of Christ only for salvation and living which all grace teachers do that so your attempt again at slander and malice is unfounded as usual.
