Jesus the victim of mob violence in Galilee (Luke 4:14-30). What had he done to provoke it?

IMO, Jesus had a body guard security detail of angels who, as long as He obeyed God, protected Him from harm until it became time for Him to be arrested.

Psa 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
Psa 91:12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

That detail pushed back the mob who came to arrest Him, as they had been commissioned to do during His lifetime.

When Jesus said, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

But then, the Father stood them down, so that Jesus could be taken.

Jhn 18:10 Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.
Jhn 18:11 So Jesus said to Peter, “Put the sword [back] in its sheath! Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?”
Jhn 18:12 So the cohort and their commander and the officers of the Jews arrested Jesus and bound Him,
Jhn 18:13 and led Him to Annas first; for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year.

Or it could’ve been as simple as the The Chosen depicted; He said, it’s not going to happen today, and He walked off. They all stood in disbelief!

What does it matter? It happened!

But the angry mob took Jesus all the way to the edge of the cliff and were going to throw Him headlong down it. That implies that they held Jesus in a horizontal manner. So something remarkable had to happen.

This is yet another instance when Jesus used His supernatural powers for His own benefit, similar to His walking on the water or appearing in a locked room.

God is honored when we ponder passages of scripture prayerfully, instead of skimming past unusual scenes like it doesn’t matter.

The scripture is given to us to bring us to Jesus and the Holy Spirit . It is good to ask them questions about what is written and to listen to their replies. We might mishear them, but what God wants is relationship and interaction with us. Being curious about aspects of His word and meeting with Him to discuss those aspects brings us to the better part that Mary chose - sitting at Jesus’ feet paying close attention to Him and His voice. That's why it matters. Now, why don’t you go to Him and ask Him what He thinks of my suggestion, and enjoy His company while doing so.

Jesus used the story of the prophet Elijah to expose their pride, which drove them into a murderous rage.
Why the Story of Elijah Caused the Riot
When Jesus preached in His hometown of Nazareth, the locals initially praised Him. But they quickly dismissed Him as just a local boy, asking, "Isn't this Joseph’s son?" They expected Jesus to perform big miracles for them just to prove Himself.
Jesus responded by reminding them of two famous Old Testament prophets—Elijah and Elisha

The Setup (Calm)
Jesus read a peaceful prophecy from Isaiah about healing the blind and freeing the oppressed. At this point, the crowd was completely happy and amazed by His "gracious words".

The Sermon (The Trigger)
Jesus knew they only wanted Him there to do miracles like a hometown show. So, He directly challenged their Pride by citing the two prophets:
  • Jesus told them Elijah Bypassed all the Starving Widows in Israel to perform a miracle for a Pagan Foreigner Instead.
  • He told them Elisha bypassed all the sick people in Israel to heal a Syrian military enemy instead.
. The Riot (The Response)
The exact next verse in the text shows the immediate reaction to those two stories:

"When they heard these things, all in the synagogue were filled with wrath. And they rose up and drove him out of the town and brought him to the brow of the hill... so that they could throw him down the cliff." (Luke 4:28–29)

They didn't get mad until He mentioned those Two Prophets. Jesus used Israel's own history to show them that select privilege means nothing to God if there is no faith. Their intense offense at this truth is exactly what turned a quiet church service into a lynch mob in a matter of seconds.

In Matthew and Mark,
Jesus tells them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own home." (Matthew 13:57). Mark adds, "and among his own relatives." (Mark 6:4).

Instead of focusing on a violent riot, Matthew 13:53-58 and Mark 6:1-6 focus heavily on the hometown crowd's stubborn unbelief and how it gridlocked their ability to receive miracles.

Matthew and Mark show the townspeople gossiping about Jesus's family background rather than listening to His message.

i actually walk & w/my dog invisible to harm or damage daily

Galilee typo . You want me to find scripture where Jesus vanished and walk right through the crowd?

Point was the cliff event is Nazareth
There are two occasions first trying to Stone Jesus that would have been Galilee etc
I only mentioned it because when you read Jesus of gallilee is only them thet Dont know Him etc
I don't think I am confusing the stoning with the the cliff incident but between them events that you get the idea to how he left

On all 3 attempts to kill jesus .Jesus did not run away and left through the midst of them through the crowd . Hid himself wasn't hidding! I used vanish cus i know this
