Job 1
God was so confident about Job ,that he even let Satan destroy all that Job had, of course not his life
As in that time he was the only man on Earth so righteous in God's sight.
Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said, “Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”
sometimes catch ourselves having a bad attitude, but Job instead of grumbling he worshipped God, he realized that every good thing in life is a gift and God didn't owe him anything.
It says he was the greatest man of all the east. I love how he was very blessed because of his obedience and observance toward God. He even prayed for his family and offered sacrifices on their behalf! God wants to prosperous, but not for us to trust in riches. If we just seek the Kingdom first, all these things will be added to us
I think it's also interesting that when God asked the devil where he's been (verse 7), the devil said going up and down and to and fro about the Earth. It's just like what 1 Peter 5:8 says ("Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour"). So, we can learn that that's what the devil was trying to do, is find someone to "devour". It's his nature.
Also, God knew satan had his heart set on Job, as He reveals it in verse 8 when He asks satan if he's considered Job. It wasn't God's will or intent to take anything from Job or put anything on him, but rather satan's. Like in Mark 4:17, satan wanted to put affliction on Job for the Word's sake. He wanted Job to turn on God, which obviously Job didn't do :) But I think it's an important thing to point out that this affliction wasn't from God and wasn't a blessing to Job, because it's just one of many examples in the bible that people use to say that God puts things on people so that they can be made perfect, as if it was a blessing to Job. But we know that God's Word is "given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Tim 3:16), not trials and tribulations. Of course, we can learn and grow from trials and tribulations, as well as rejoice God through them, and that's good, but they don't come from God.

I believe that all these things happened to Job because God had let satan because that was the old covenant and Job didn't have the same promises as we have in the new covenant. In the new testament, we know that we can resist the devil and he'll flee from us (James 4:7). We can have victory over the devil and the devil can't touch us. He may try to throw things at us, but we have Jesus as our intercessor. Like in Luke 22:31-32, Jesus tells Simon Peter that satan had desired to have him so he can sift him as wheat. This is the same desire the devil had on Job. But the difference is, Job didn't have Jesus to intercede and be a savior as we have and as Simon Peter did in this passage. In Colossians 1: 13-14, it says, "Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins" Job was in the power of darkness, since he was not yet born again, obviously.
