Job 2
How bad job had it his friends saw him and didn't recognize him and then his friends sat with him for a week and didn’t say anything
they were kinds feeling bad to see their friend suffering so dint want to say anything that could hurt him. i was even wondering why did he have to take a piece of the broken pottery
Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes.
I can imagine he had no one to help him or even come close to him cause his condition must have been really bad ...n of course he wldnt b able to afford a doctor his own wife cursed him cause he still stood firm n dint saying anything to curse God
At this point he mad had been grumbling it says that he didn't sin with his lips, inside he may have been upset well if he did in his heart the enemy would have immediately told God that your servant Job even though he dint say with his mouth he felt in his heart.
rather he blamed himself for his suffering , in this chapter it didn't say that he blamed himself but he says that he received good and shall he not receive evil also, why did he received evil ..or trouble
sitting on ashes could mean 2 reason
1) Mourning for what he did
2) Ashes could b a kind a cure on his sore or ashes usually means repentance
he sat in ashes and I was looking at some commentaries and one said it was a custom that mourners did (Jeremiah 6:26, Isaiah 58:5, Ezekiel 27:30, Jonah 3:6). And I believe he took the pottery and scrapped himself to take away his sores. I can't imagine how it must've hurt.
Good thing his friends were there with him to mourn with him, since his wife was mad at him, as you pointed out. His friends being with him reminded me of Romans 12:15, " Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep." It's good to be there for our friends like that
it was interesting that God said that satan wanted to "destroy" Job without cause, as said in verse 3. So, as the chapters go on and his friends tell him that he must've sinned and that's why God is punishing him, is wrong.
Was a pity that his wife did not stand by him nor understood his situation but tried to tell him to curse God . That is where most people fail ,its easy to praise him when u have everything is happy go lucky..but in difficult situation we need to praise him more over..that is when most of the true worship comes out ...and even the words..i keep gagging myself in this matter..well its not easy and never meant to be easy...but In everything give thanks, for this is the WILL of God...so we should obey his WILL for us in life
