So I watched the sermon video and here is what I saw from it. Joel while made it a point to speak to us about self worth self encouragement and self confidence always pointed to God he continued to make sure we knew to look to God for our worth and for encouragement he also was pretty fun i got some good laughs he gave good biblical examples and was even willing to express his own shortcomings and mistakes.

Granted from just one video I don't know him as much as I should to make a certain and complete view on him but so far I see none of all that is said about him that the op expressed

Thank You:)

Thank you for actually going to the source before passing judgement on someone based on what others, who have a doctrinal beef, have to say about anyone.

Joel Osteen is not my go-to guy for meaty, in-depth preaching. As others have stated, his gifting is to encourage the Body of Christ and to remind her of the Goodness of God and His Love for His Body. Obviously there is great lack of encouragement in the Body today, and why Joel Osteen has struck such a chord with so many.

May others follow your example!

No need for thanks, God taught me that I can't believe things simply because others do even if it's a dear friend.
If we don't seek out the truth of a matter with open heart and no views or beliefs set in stone then how will we ever find the truth at all? this goes for reading the bible it goes for everyday day discussions it goes for life in general only a heart that is teachable and is willing to seek the truth will in fact learn the deep and hidden secrets of God and his kingdom and heart

Why Joel Osteen Is the Most Popular Preacher on the Planet
He powers entire stadiums with his message of positivity, not pessimism.
Michael Mooney January 11, 2016
He looks like an excited little boy.

Sitting on the balcony of an upper-level suite at AT&T Park, Joel Osteen is staring out at the field—the home of the San Francisco Giants—but he isn’t watching baseball. He’s watching the construction of a stage. He’s watching the lights move into place. And he’s watching a series of expensive high-definition cameras finally going up on the massive dollies stationed around the infield. A breeze rolls in off the bay, and the late summer sun burns away some of the morning fog.

“Isn’t that a great shot?” Osteen asks, looking at the signal from one of the panning cameras. In one slow sweep, the cameraman has captured the picturesque bay behind the stadium, the thousands of seats they expect to be filled a day from now, and finally the LED-covered stage where Osteen will stand and preach.

“What is that going to say when that pans toward me?” he asks. “It says, ‘Let’s listen to him!’ It gets people’s attention. It’s the psychology of it. We played with that for a long time to put it right on that level.”

Why Joel Osteen Is the Most Popular Preacher on the Planet
BOB ADLER

Osteen and his team of nearly 200 are in San Francisco for an event they call A Night of Hope. Most of the people working for him traveled together from Houston, where Osteen is the senior pastor at Lakewood Church, a nondenominational megachurch that gathers in the arena formerly known as the Compaq Center, where the Houston Rockets used to play. Tens of thousands attend his church every week, and millions more watch him on televisions around the world, making him easily the most popular preacher on the planet. His broad appeal means personalities ranging from Oprah Winfrey and John McCain to Khloe Kardashian have declared themselves fans. Osteen is also a best-seller machine, one of the biggest names in publishing. (His new book, The Power of I Am, debuted in October 2015 as a New York Times best-seller.) His net worth is reportedly somewhere between $40 million and $60 million.

In addition to all that, Osteen and his wife, Victoria, do live events. They’ve held roughly 150 in all, including a handful of packed-stadium special events like the one he’s preparing for here. This three-day affair includes dozens of volunteers doing charity work in the local community, building houses or giving food to homeless people. The main event, on Saturday night, is part old-fashioned revival, part epic Christian rock concert. In the last few years, he’s had similar events pack Yankee Stadium and Dodger Stadium to their respective brims. This is the Friday afternoon setup, something of a ritual for Osteen and his crew.

Soon he’s walking across the infield, toward the complex network of stages erected just behind the pitcher’s mound. There’s the main stage, where Osteen, Victoria and a number of guests will be preaching. There’s also a taller stage behind that, for the dozen or so musicians and their instruments. Most crew members wear skinny jeans, and a few are sipping from coffee cups. The entire arrangement, though, would rival any Pink Floyd road show.

Osteen is heavily involved with preproduction. Even after all of these shows, he’s still excited to see the booms, jibs and cranes. He has fun figuring out where the cameras go, like putting together a puzzle. A man walks slowly back and forth across the stage so Osteen can see how it looks on-screen. In the middle of the outfield, behind the stage, stand three tall LED screens that look as if they’re placed randomly until you see a close-up of the stage with those bright lights filling in the background.

“See, it all lines up,” Osteen says, his characteristically soft, gentle voice barely audible amid the sound of hammering echoing around the park. “We want there to be full, rich shots. We’ll have 30,000 people here with us, but most people will be watching on television. Most people are only gonna see those 40 inches.”

Production value is of utter importance to Osteen. “It’s got to look good, and you’ve got to be precise. There’s so much competing for the viewer’s attention these days. If you’re not prepared with what you’re gonna say, or it’s not relevant, or if something’s just not up to par—even if it’s in focus, but it’s not good lighting, or the sound is echo-y—you risk losing people.”

This dedication to a glossy, attractive final product—to “those 40 inches”—is part of the formula for Osteen’s success. There’s also his eternally positive message. He’s often called “the smiling preacher,” and he intentionally avoids using words like Hell or sin. He never says “Satan” or “evil,” instead preferring expressions like “the enemy,” which could mean any challenge, from an intense crisis of faith to mere self-doubt. Osteen is a motivational speaker with a religious bent, which makes him highly accessible and also a target for criticism.

He also comes across—both in person and on-screen—as genuine, a word most people wouldn’t associate with televangelists. At 52, he still seems like the awkward, fresh-faced preacher’s kid. He frets about how badly he talks sometimes. He incorporates his whole family into the ministry. As a policy, he never asks for money, although in his words, “We’re obviously blessed, and blessed with the ability to be generous and bless others.” He says he just wants to make people happy. He wants to deliver the gift of warm feelings. And every day he seems truly surprised by the way life has unfolded.

***

Osteen’s parents, John and Dodie, in 1959 started their church in an abandoned feed lot, with only a few dozen people. Initially they were Baptists, but soon the church became independent, nondenominational. John and Dodie built it over four decades, and when Joel quit college in 1982, he came back and told his parents that he wanted to start a television ministry. And that’s what he did: He created a production team to broadcast his father’s sermons on TV.

For 17 years, Joel worked on making his father look good. He would take the 40-minute sermons and cut them down to 25. He checked the lighting, the sound, everything down to picking out his father’s suits and ties. And it made him happy. His father was his best friend, and he loved working and traveling the world with him.

“That’s all I thought I’d do with my life,” Osteen says. “I was content.”

Once in a while, John would prod his son. “Joel,” he’d say. “Why don’t you come up here and help me pastor the church? I think you’d be a good minister.”

But the son would always politely decline. He was shy, quiet.

“I had no desire to do it,” Joel says now. “It was so far from me.”

Every year they would take at least one trip to India. They’d sit next to each other on that long flight and Joel’s father would always give him the same talk.

“You’d be great,” John would say. “You can help me.”

“Daddy,” Joel would say, “I’m not a preacher. You preach, and I’ll make you look good.”

One day, when John was 77, he was having dinner at Joel’s sister Lisa’s house. He decided to call Joel and give it another try. Dodie and Lisa told John he was wasting his time.

Why Joel Osteen Is the Most Popular Minister on the Planet
JONATHAN ZIZZO

“I remember it like it was yesterday,” Joel says, closing his eyes. “It was a Monday.”

At first, it went the way it had so many times before.

“Hey, Joel,” the father said, “I was just wondering if you’d give me a break and minister for me.”

“Daddy,” Joel said like he always did, “I’d love to, but that’s just not me.”

This time, though, when they got off the phone, the son got a strange impulse.

“It wasn’t 90 seconds later I felt something down here,” Joel says looking back. He touches his chest. “It said, ‘Joel, you need to do it.’ ”

When he called back to tell his father that he’d do it, his mother and sister were stunned.

Joel now jokes that it was the most miserable week of his life. He figured he’d try it once, to make his father proud. He told Victoria not to talk to him until after the Sunday service.

That Friday, John was admitted to the hospital: a complication with his dialysis. Joel’s mother had been sick in the early ’80s, when doctors told her she had a tumor on her liver the size of an orange. But she prayed vigilantly and focused on living a normal life, and she made a miraculous recovery. Joel just assumed his father would get better soon, too. That Sunday, John listened to his son’s first sermon over the phone in the hospital. The nurses told Joel they’d never seen his father so proud. A few days later John had a heart attack and “went to go be with the Lord,” as Joel puts it.

The son was in a daze, but the same thing that told him he needed to get up and minister that first time now told him he needed to step up and pastor his father’s church. This was 1999, and the membership at Lakewood had grown to nearly 6,000 people. Joel’s goal at the time was to maintain what his parents had built.

“I did my best; I didn’t know what I was doing. Heck, I barely do now.”

At first, he tried to imitate his father’s style, which was a little stodgier, a little more traditional than how he preaches today. It didn’t feel right, though. So he made a conscious decision to sound more casual and accessible—more like himself.

“I wanted the guys I played basketball with at the YMCA, guys who didn’t go to church, to understand everything I was saying. I never wanted anyone to think I was talking over their heads.”

He spoke less about the figures in the Bible and focused more on stories about people overcoming hardships, stories about faith bringing people through terrible times. He’d write out his sermons and memorize them, sometimes recording his voice to study it. After so many years editing his father’s sermons for TV, he was able to self-edit and focus on the specific language he wanted to use. Osteen repeated words he thought were positive and cut things he thought might turn people off.

“A lot of people, life’s beating them down enough. They could come in here, and I could say, ‘You know what? You’re all sinners. You probably haven’t lived right today.’ But they already know that. They don’t need to go to church to feel guilty. You already feel guilty because you didn’t spend enough time with your kid. You haven’t broken that habit. You know what, God’s looking at the fact that you took the time to come out to church or to the stadium. He’s got something great for the future.”

It’s the same message Osteen preaches today, the same thing he writes about in his new book. His idea is: If you literally say the positive words out loud, you’re more likely to embody them. It’s about the power of belief. It’s a little like The Secret, aimed at Christians.

Within years of the son taking over as pastor, membership at Lakewood grew exponentially. In 2005 the church moved into the former Compaq Center, making around $100 million in improvements and upgrades, including an additional five stories of administrative space. His relatively noncontroversial message and approach have a massive appeal—he’s a relaxing voice in a complicated, modern world.

But this positive outlook, sometimes called the “Prosperity Gospel,” can draw the ire of critics. Conservative blogger Matt Walsh wrote a post in 2014 calling Joel and Victoria Osteen “heretics.” Other preachers have questioned Osteen’s theological understanding. They say Osteen’s message could have people focusing on themselves instead of God or Jesus. Some evangelicals mock his happy attitude.

But Osteen says he almost never sees or hears the criticisms. He doesn’t read blogs or comment sections. “It’s funny,” he says. “It seems like I’m naive, but everybody I talk to, they’re saying, ‘You helped me, I like listening to you.’ And the stadiums full of people? They’re not coming because they’re critics. They’re coming because you touched their life.”

When he talks about prosperity, Osteen says he isn’t referring to just money. “Prosperity to me is having peace. It’s having good relationships. It’s being able to pay your bills, yes, but it’s being able to bless somebody else.”

He believes the idea that he doesn’t teach enough Bible lessons is wrong, too: “I won’t talk about it specifically—‘Hey you’re a sinner,’ but I’ll talk about lack of integrity, about compromise. I turn it around. It’s the same message. I’m just coming at it from a positive point of view. Ninety-nine percent of people will respond to that. And I think that’s why it’s crossed so far out into the world.”

***

The crowd starts building Saturday afternoon. At first it’s a trickle, then more, then more. The earliest are mostly die-hard Osteen fans who want to make sure they’re in the front row. But soon there are thousands of people streaming in. Traffic around the stadium stands still. Residents in nearby apartments come out into the streets to see what’s happening.

The ticketholders are a broad array of people. Most paid $25 to be here. There are all ages, all races. Some people are here in their finest attire, with jewelry and formal wear. Others are wearing windbreakers and scuffed tennis shoes. Children run up and down the aisles playing tag. Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, long an Osteen fan, takes her seat near the stage, not far from Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson, who’s here in a fleece, skinny jeans, neon green high-tops and his trademark American flag bandana.

Why Joel Osteen Is the Most Popular Preacher on the Planet
BOB ADLER

Soon there are more than 30,000 people in the stadium seats. A few thousand more are streaming the event live on YouTube. And more still are watching it on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. The Night of Hope hashtag is trending across the Bay Area.

The sun is still up when the music begins to play—a mix of slow and fast praise hymns. Joel and Victoria walk onstage to thunderous applause. He’s wearing a blue suit, a dotted tie, and a sharp, pinstripe shirt. She’s wearing a blue Western-style top with a matching scarf. Together they look like smiling models from an ideal American suburb somewhere.

“God is smiling down on ya tonight,” Joel tells the crowd. “He doesn’t even need to look through the roof; he can look right down on you. God is for you. The most powerful force in the universe is on your side tonight! All you have to say is, ‘God, I want to receive what you have for me tonight.’ ” He adds: “This is going to be your best year so far!”

“God is going to help you with whatever you’re facing,” Victoria says. “You already have everything you need inside you.”

She tells a story about a time she made chocolate milk but got a phone call before she could drink the whole thing. She explains that when she came back, 30 minutes later, all the chocolate had settled to the bottom of the glass. “Sometimes those good things settle to the bottom, and we don’t believe we can do what God called us to do. You need to take a God-spoon and stir up your faith with everything that’s in you.” Victoria repeats “chocolate milk” over and over—positive words.

"Prosperity to me is having peace. It's having good relationships. It's being able to pay your bills, yes, but it's being able to bless somebody else."

There’s more music. More stories. Joel talks about the strength God gives people during hard times. Victoria talks about how “God chose you” the way adopting parents pick out an infant at a hospital. Dodie comes onstage to tell the story of her recovery from cancer. Ten pastors from local churches—a mix of conservative and liberal—are invited up to give positive declarations and prayers, one at a time.

At some point, the music quiets and Joel takes the stage alone to talk about when his father died and how he had to take over the church. When he mentions his father’s last days, how proud John was in the hospital, Joel’s voice begins to crack. He has to stop for a moment and wipe his eyes. The moment doesn’t feel contrived. In fact, he seems a little annoyed at himself.

“I’m the biggest crybaby. I can’t help it, though.”

The crowd erupts in the biggest cheers of the night.

He goes on: “God wants to do more than you can ask, think or imagine. God’s dream for your life is so much bigger than your own. I never dreamed that I’d be doing this today. I was content working behind the scenes. But God had something else planned for me. You have gifts and talents in you right now that you haven’t tapped into. It might not be like me, up here in front of people. You might be teaching at that school; one day you’re gonna be running that school. You may be working at that business; one day you’re gonna be owning that business.”

His voice builds. The man who was quiet and demure a day ago now seems like he’s powering an entire stadium. The temperature has dropped, but these people feel warmth.

“Get ready,” he says. “Get ready for some new things God wants to do with your life!”

Shame on you and shame on Joel Osteen and his entire cursed organization.

How much do you do to care for the homeless, abused, and needy in your sphere of influence?

You correctly point out how the UN, celebrities, and interfaith ministries minister to the needy.

If they are doing so outside of the Love of Christ, their works of righteousness are as filthy rags before the Father - YET - they are still doing more for those in need than TOO MANY in the Body.

It is indeed a shame that those who are in the world have more compassion for those in need than much of the Body of Christ. Perhaps we in the Body should be putting them to shame with our care for those around us rather than them putting us to shame?

Nah - it's much more profitable to go 'round calling folks with ministries that are bearing good Fruit blasphemous. Let's do THAT.

Sigh.

I hear ya, and we do have to be careful not to be so open-minded that our brains fall out!

But with this area of calling teachers heretics - without actually going to the source - too many here the BDF are guilty of doing just that, even those I've come to respect over time. I've been kind of surprised at their willingness to follow along with the various 'witch-hunts' (pardon the expression) and their UNwillingness to go to the source.

As I've said before, I'm not afraid to call out a false teacher or false belief system - but not before researching the source (be it teacher or belief system) thoroughly first. When the Hebrew Roots Movement crossed my path, I was discouraged to see so many heresy-hunting sites with information on the HRM, but their approach was so full of vitriol and their own pet doctrines that I found them to be unhelpful overall.

I quickly learned to go to the sources of the teachings themselves and evaluate them when measured against contextual Scripture itself. Along the way I did find good resources that helped to sort out the fallacies I was seeing, but they were just good teaching sites that were pointing to Christ and His finished Work and who we are in Him.

I learned that when folks have a good grasp on

 • Who Jesus is
 • What He came to do
 • What that actually accomplished, and
 • Who those who believe in Christ are in Him

. . . that falsehoods eventually fall away.

Everything in the Bible is about and points to Christ and His Work - the Work of the redemption of and reconciliation of man with God.

That is the Gospel - it IS Good News!

So many try to turn it into Bad News, easily lost or taken away.

Thankfully, salvation belongs to our God, not to those who preach Bad News.

What Is So Wrong About Joel Osteen?
...Osteen is likeable, popular and void of Biblical truth!
1st Timothy 4:1 and 2nd Timothy 3:5, “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils... Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
By David J. Stewart | March 2013
osteen-false_prophet.jpg
Joel Osteen is arguably the most likeable and favorite preacher in the world. Unfortunately, that's for a very bad reason; namely, because he is also one of the most apostate, unbiblical and compromised preachers.

Joel Osteen Has A Form Of Godliness, But No Gospel Power

Joel Osteen DOESN'T preach the gospel. You won't find the gospel mentioned in Osteen's books. The gospel is defined in 1st Corinthians 15:1-4 as the DEATH, BURIAL and RESURRECTION of Jesus Christ.

I don't care how big, successful or caring your charitable organization or ministry may be, it's all worthless and in vain if the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is not the central and primary focus of all that you do!!! What good is it to feed a human being here on earth, if their soul and body will burn in the Lake of Fire forever? I am sick and tired of hearing about all the so-called wonderful ministries in America that are totally devoid of gospel preaching. I'm sick and tired of so-called ministries like Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas that boast of all their accomplishments; yet the gospel is no where to be found, buried at best under some occasional mumble or slight of the mouth. Even worse, Osteen's plan of salvation is corrupt.

Some people are just negative, critical and down on everything and everyone. However, to be equally upbeat and positive is just as wrong and damaging if the truth is not preached.

Roman Catholicism is leading over a billion people into Hell, but you'll never hear that from Joel Osteen.

Part of telling the truth is exposing the lies. Did you hear that? Part of telling the truth is exposing the lies! The Bible doesn't just tell us the truth, but it also exposes the lies!

Most people these days take offense when a Christian calls Roman Catholicism “a demonic religious cult from Hell,” but it's the 100% Biblical truth.

Let me tell you something... If you will only come to a Christ who accepts the homosexual lifestyle as legitimate, and accepts Roman Catholicism as a valid faith, and thinks that a woman has a right to choose death for her baby... then you are really coming to a satanic Christ, not Jesus Christ!!!

Osteen's Books Are The Best Of The Worst

Joel Osteen's books are all written with the assumption that everybody is a Christian. All of his books assume that the reader is already saved. This is a very dangerous precedent. How can a person be saved unless they first realize that they are lost?

It's a sad joke to hear Joel boasting that he never takes a church salary. The truth is that Joel Osteen makes 10,000 times what the average minister makes on the sale of his books. The New World Order gang loves Osteen because he is wishy-washy, liberal and doesn't take a stand against anything from the pulpit. The Bible warns about FALSE PROPHETS that are overly popular with the public...

Luke 6:26, “Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.”

The Bible teaches that the way to heaven is very narrow (Matthew 7:13-14). The world hates the narrow way. The unsaved world hates the Lord Jesus and all faithful Christians (John 15:19) that live godly in Christ Jesus (2nd Timothy 3:12). The way of salvation is very narrow. How narrow? Well, the Bible says that Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to Heaven (John 14:6). It's Jesus or Hell. Joel Osteen falsely teaches that there are many ways to Jesus. That's demonic doctrine. THE GOSPEL is the ONLY way to Jesus!

Joel Osteen is a horrible false prophet who places his love for money above his love for truth, evidenced by his choice to teach false doctrines rather than stand uncompromisingly for the truths of God's holy and unchanging Word. God never changes (Malachi 3:6). Humans change from one generation to another, but God never changes and neither does His precious Word. May we all SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES as Jesus commanded in John 5:39. The Bible is offensive because it speaks the truth. God meant for His Word to offend the wicked.

Joel Osteen caters to the wicked, tickling their ears and scratching their backs. That's why so many people speak highly of him. Joel Osteen may be a really nice guy, but so is the Devil. Eve fell for the serpent's charm.

Osteen Supports Wicked Hannah Montana And Walt Disney

The evil Walt Disney corporation promotes Joel Osteen on their Family cable channel? Disney still promotes their annual Gay Day. The Lakewood church has hired former Disney employees to work with their member's children. Disney is of the Devil, targeting teens with their nightclub lifestyle of Rock music, sensual dress, fornication and rebellion against parents. What is America becoming? In a 2007 article titled, “Joel Osteen Counts His Blessings” in People magazine, it states:
It doesn't take much to make Joel Osteen cry. Talk to him about his deceased father, and Osteen, the pastor of America's largest church, is likely to tear up. Or tell him you were picked on as a kid. Or just ask him about the Hannah Montana tickets he scored for his daughter's birthday. Standing outside his Houston megachurch on a recent Sunday, with a white stretch Hummer waiting to whisk his family to the sold-out Disney show, Osteen blinks back tears like the luckiest man in the world. "It's just such a blessing," he says.

What kind of preacher support's Walt Disney?

Joel Osteen gives Hannah Montana tickets to his daughter!!! Miley Cyrus is a disgrace to America and only a wicked parent would support such an evil influence. Did you read what the preceding quote said about Joel whisking his family to a sold-out Walt Disney show?

Disney promotes the homosexual agenda!!! Osteen's 70,000 church members and tens-of-millions of fans are going to support Hannah Montana too. Joel Osteen is no man of God. We're not talking about a mistake; but rather, an apostate preacher who will say anything to rake in the money.

Woe unto the religious wicked!

Nice.
So does the U.N., Hollywood and Interfaith ministries.
God does not support your endeavors.

Ok.
So does the U.N., Hollywood and Interfaith ministries.
God does not know you.

Kind of you. It's a start.
Still, so does the U.N., Hollywood and Interfaith ministries.
You are NOT biblical.

BLASPHEMY!!

You are certainly NOT the Holy Hands nor Feet of the Jesus of the Bible.

Joel Osteen is 100% anything BUT Sola Scriptura.

Shame on you and shame on Joel Osteen and his entire cursed organization.
WOW... I read this and these things came to mind. You speak in a very unkind manner you make accusations such as God does not support your endeavors and also God does not know you. and of course You are NOT biblical.
. to this I have to say who are you to say if God supports her endeavors? second god does indeed know her and he is proud to call her his daughter third she is very biblical as long as I have known silverings I have seen her heart for God she has shown great wisdom and love in all her ways as far as I have seen.

You make your view of her based on joel which is unfair. your post here is uncalled for crude and unkind and you make false accusations as well, how very Christian of you.

A very measured response that was 100% accurate to the Word of God.

You know NOTHING of this individual poster besides what you've seen/read on an online chat forum. And, even if you DID know them on a physical, personal level, that doesn't make their organization right with God.

If you want to speak for Christianity, read your Bible a few times first and figure out what Christianity TRULY is.

It certainly is NOT the pop-psychology, new age, self-help, 100% unbiblical nonsense that Joel Osteen and his organization are shoveling to the masses.

God is not a wet noodle.

His Truth hurts and offends the wicked. So does His Word, by design.

Wake up and educate yourself before choosing a side to stand up for.

You cannot talk defeat and expect to have victory. You can’t talk lack and expect to have abundance. You’ve got to send your words out in the direction your want your life to go.

I looked everywhere in scriptures and was not able to find this teaching.....hmmm... most likely because he is teaching the
"law of attraction" as per "The Secret" of course with some bible words thrown in for good measure.

This thread is basically error (street preacher) refuting error (Joel Osteen).

So it would seem even if your message is just as deadly wrong as the street preacher's as long as you deliver it with a smile and charisma then it is all good?

my response to you was not about Joel it was how rudely and inappropriately you spoke to silverwings, true I nly know her from being together online in a forum but you would be surprised how well you can know a person from a forum alone. The interesting thing about being online is ppl tend to truly speak their hearts and show who they really are because we are behind a computer screen and there is security in not being face to face.

I have watched her and have read her words in the time she has been here I know her heart far better than you might think.
Also do not speak for Christianity i speak for God I speak for what it means to be a Christian what it means to be love know love and to show who love truly is. Perhaps being a Christian to you is not what it is to me. This is not a hobby for me this is not about going to heaven for me I count the cost of the path I have chosen I know that if I not seek but actually achieve the depth and level of love for God with God and for all others it very well may come with a great cost I very well may have to suffer greatly and intensely for his sake and for theirs and I accepted this from start.

What it means to be a Christian what it means to be strong what real strength is can you answer and tell me what this is? I ask myself this everyday. I dont choose sides I stand for those who are treated wrong and give correction to both friends and foes alike and I will stand regardless of the cost. If you think you know God so well then answer this question for me what is the one thing that is most vital for a believer to truly be a Christian what is the one thing that sets apart a Christian by title and Christian by heart?

even the 'carnal' can recognize the carney' - wake-up brothers and sisters,
and give up this world and pray that your Maker give you the ability to
discern between 'Good and evil', above your lust of the fleshly enticements
that lure so many into every wind of doctrine...

THIS WHOLE THREAD IS ABOUT JOEL OSTEEN, like it or not. Anybody that reads my original post can plainly see that I stated matters of fact without any personal attacks or name calling of any kind.

If you want to take a courageous stand for something, take a stand for the Word of God or stop wasting people's time with your pointless posts about MY post just for the sheer purpose of distracting from the matter at hand; that is JOEL OSTEEN IS A WORTHLESS FALSE PROPHET FROM THE DEPTHS OF HELL.

If that hurts your feelings, good. Consider it a wake-up call from God.

This sentence, alone, shows how 'literally' unbelievably naïve you are if you seriously think online chat is inherently honest and sincere and reveals the true identity of the poster. This I wholeheartedly do not believe. You are either here to sidetrack this discussion or you are hopelessly misled and confused. There is no third possibility.

What it means to be a Christian what it means to be strong what real strength is can you answer and tell me what this is? I ask myself this everyday.

Yep, it means standing firmly for the Truth of God even when many come against you and call you mean and cruel, etc. because they are hopelessly lost and confused about what it actually means to live and stand for Truth.

I dont choose sides I stand for those who are treated wrong........

Well guess what. God DOES choose sides and He expects ALL those who claim to follow Him to do the same to the point of death, so if you want to float around loving everyone everywhere you go and breaking up fights and living to impress man and appear as a peaceful, loving, kind person and all that, that's perfectly fine, but don't get in the way of those who are standing and fighting for Truth and whose purpose holds much more profound meaning to the One and only God of all Creation. The ONLY One who can judge who's being treated right or wrong.

And I think your best friend, whose name you didn't even get right with your first response, can speak for themselves if they take issue with anything anybody has to say.

..........I will stand regardless of the cost. I

Long as the cost of going to hell is worth it, more power to ya. Just don't pull others down with you who CHOOSE THE SIDE OF GOD.

f you think you know God so well then answer this question for me what is the one thing that is most vital for a believer to truly be a Christian what is the one thing that sets apart a Christian by title and Christian by heart?

Listen, I'm not here to play your little worthless games and answer your silly trivia questions. I'm not too concerned with whatever it is you THINK you know when you've already displayed how much you DO NOT.

The purpose of this thread is to expose the apostasy of JOEL OSTEEN ministries. If you have something to say about THAT, let's have it.

Yes the thread is about him but that doesn't mean that there is not room for standing up for someone who was with treated with disrespect. Judging from your aggressive response I can that you do not understand why I said what I did to you, if you think it's enough to call yourself a Christian yet not show any of the fruits of one then you along with many others are a Christian by title only not by heart and I am sad to say you will never know God's heart or what it means to be a Christian in such a state of heart.

Love patience understanding humility these are only some of the fruits that a heart in which God resides in is clearly seen and known, so far I have seen none of the fruits from you. Another thing is that while you say to me get into the fight or get out of the way I have to say that if you are here in this thread only to fight and to go into heated senseless arguing then you are here for the wrong reason. Nothing good will ever come from a heated debate in which ppl only attack each other if we cannot debate in a clam mature and Christ like manner then we should not be debating at all, high emotions senseless arguing pointing of the fingers these are the debates that satan laughs at because he knows that in such a debate he is the one who has control of it he uses us on this forum more than we realize.

Joel Osteen's 'Every Day a Friday'

Few things rub me the wrong way as much as poseurs masquerading as pastors. If that sounds unduly harsh, forgive me, but I don’t think this is undue.

Osteen parades himself around as a minister of the gospel. Let’s be frank: The guy should be writing copy for Hallmark (best case scenario), not preaching the gospel.

Even the title of his book is offensive. Mohler chides Osteen for being negligent in the theology department. Nothing says that so simply and shouts it so loudly as the phrase “Every Day a Friday.”

The good news isn’t about Friday.....

Jesus went to the grave on Friday, experienced the agony of execution on Friday, endured the passion of the cross on Friday, suffered and died on Friday so that he could set us free, redeem us, remake us, rejoin us to communion with the Father and each other....

....when he defeated sin, the devil, and death itself in the resurrection.

In his talk with the Times Osteen said that he saw faith at an all-time high in America today. Super. But it doesn’t mean much if it’s a misdirected faith in good vibes and not the real hope of the good news.
The insufferable Joel Osteen

Osteen is a 'smoking' (not steaming) pile of nonsense and YOU CAN REST ASSURED GOD AGREES!!!

Only love can still the waters of war among the children of God

Trust me, I am not warring with the children of God.

And I really have nothing else to say to you so please find somebody else to harass. YOU are making this between you and I, NOT ME; my comments have been against Osteen and his organization from the get-go. And if I am not interested in your personal discussion, then it is ONLY YOU carrying on.

Anything to contribute to this particular thread, Blain???

That's what I thought.

Joel Osteen Reduces Jesus’s Death, Burial and Resurrection to an Example of Perserverance and Calls It The Gospel

In this video entitled “Joel Osteen on the Gospel” from the Joel Osteen Ministries Youtube channel, Joel really shows his disregard for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

He reduces the story of Jesus’s death, burial and resurrection (for our sins) to an example for us to follow as to how to persevere. Joel states that in Jesus’s darkest moments He wanted to give up but decided to persevere like we must decide to persevere. And that in our Garden of Gethsemane moments we must remember that it is not over until God says it is over, so just hang in there. But this should be scandalous. There is no mention of our sin and our salvation from the penalty of our
sin.

There is no substitutionary atonement, there is no washing of sin by the shed blood of the Lamb to take away the sin of the world, in fact there is no mention of condemnation or salvation at all. Watch the following five minute video and I am sure you will agree that it is a disgrace for Osteen to belittle the work of Christ in the manner he does here.

And here in this three minute video from the Joel Osteen Youtube channel named “Joel Osteen – What kind of Gospel does he preach?”,, Osteen does it again. Is it not obvious that Joel Otseen does not preach the gospel of Jesus Christ?

JOEL OSTEEN: SMILE WHEN YOU LIE

By Ken Silva pastor-teacher on Sep 2, 2008 in Features, Joel Osteen, Word Faith

Unless you have been living on another planet you have no doubt heard of or have seen America’s smiling pastor Joel Osteen of Lakewood Church, which also happens to be one of the largest professing evangelical Christian congregations in the world.

What needs to be understood here is that the only way someone like this could even be considered an evangelical is because of the disturbingly low ebb of discernment today in the Body of Christ.

For here we have a man who at best has a very simplistic message concerning the Christian faith. And at worst, as I show you in Joel Osteen: Apprising His Word Faith Teachings Osteen is yet another of the many Word Faith teachers currently infesting our Lord’s Church–an alarmingly arrogant breed who are now fearlessly spouting their doctrines of devils.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires.
(2 Timothy 4:3, NASB)

A New Generation Of Ministers

Joel Osteen simply could not be a clearer example of the above Scripture.

Our role for the Lord is to proclaim His Gospel and to feed and nurture His sheep as God the Holy Spirit brings them to the Great Shepherd when the Father draws them.

.....over at Osteen’s former personal website we once read:

Joel Osteen has quickly become a leading voice for a new generation of ministers. After becoming Senior Pastor in October of 1999, Lakewood Church has more than quadrupled its weekly attendance and is one of America’s most diverse churches. According to Forbes.com and Outreach magazine Lakewood is the largest and fastest growing congregation in America with over 28,000 in attendance each weekend.

However, this “new generation of ministers” is not really so new as they have already been forecast as our text clearly says above – For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

.....violation of 1 Timothy 2:12 Joel Osteen is still allowing his wife to hold the office of pastor.

I Don’t Know What Christ Sent Me To Preach

....we ask you to consider this: Just who is the father of lies?

You would think that during his time working with his pastor father Osteen might have learned more than just how to open his mouth in order to exchange feet. Many of us have already seen Joel Osteen’s infamous appearance on Larry King Live, and you probably know that he later “apologized” (somewhat) for his being “unclear” in what he was saying (read: not saying) about the way of salvation.

I’ll share below a little bit of Osteen’s letter of apology here even though for some reason it no longer appears accessible:

It was never my desire or intention to leave any doubt as to what I believe and Whom I serve. I believe with all my heart that it is only through Christ that we have hope in eternal life. I regret and sincerely apologize that I was unclear on the very thing in which I have dedicated my life.

Jesus declared in John 14; I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me. I believe that Jesus Christ alone is the only way to salvation. However, it wasn’t until I had the opportunity to review the transcript of the interview that I realize I had not clearly stated that having a personal relationship with Jesus is the only way to heaven. It’s about the individual’s choice to follow Him.

God has given me a platform to present the Gospel to a very diverse audience. In my desire not to alienate the people that Jesus came to save, I did not clearly communicate the convictions that I hold so precious.

While it is true that all of us make mistakes what is being missed here in this instance is that someone truly called by Christ to be a pastor would be keenly aware of what he has been sent by his Master to say.

He’s not going to have to “review the transcript” to see that he “was unclear on the very thing” Christ has literally sent him to preach. And if Joel Osteen is too afraid of “the people that Jesus came to save,” that he is not able to “clearly communicate the convictions that” are held as “so precious,” then he really needs to read James 3:1 – Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

In fact Phil Johnson has rightly questioned Osteen’s “gifting” as pointed out in Does Joel Osteen Meet the Biblical Qualifications of a Pastor?

Upon Further Review

Let’s look at a couple of things from the transcript of that Larry King Live appearance as it relates to the little lies told by man-pleasers like Joel Osteen, even as they smile.

KING: But don’t you think if people don’t believe as you believe, they’re somehow condemned?

OSTEEN: You know, I think that happens in our society. But I try not to do that. I tell people all the time, preached a couple Sundays about it. I’m for everybody. You may not agree with me, but to me it’s not my job to try to straighten everybody out. The Gospel called the good news. My message is a message of hope, that’s God’s for you. You can live a good life no matter what’s happened to you. And so I don’t know. I know there is condemnation but I don’t feel that’s my place. (Online source)

What is really nauseatingly pathetic here is that we see a supposed minister of the Gospel, who as such would be sent forth by the Creator of the universe Himself, cowering before someone who–as a Jew–is even one of his Lord’s chosen people. And sadly yet another great opportunity to evangelize Larry King was squandered. But this is the problem with this pastor cult of personality approach of the evangelical community today. Couple that with a healthy dose of twisted Arminian acquiescence to placate the self-esteem of sinners and voila! you have Osteen’s version of so-called “stealth” evangelism, which Purpose Driven Pope Rick Warren in turn picked up from his heretical mentor Robert Schuller.

Although he probably wasn’t even aware of it himself, Larry King was really asking pastor Joel Osteen to confirm what he knows deep in his own heart: I’m really not right with God am I? But instead Osteen lied when he said: “And so I don’t know. I know there is condemnation but I don’t feel that’s my place.” It’s not your place as a pastor to tell the truth Joel Osteen? Then is it your place as a minister of the Gospel to at least share the Scriptures?

The Lies Of The Man-Pleasers

Here are a couple of other examples of the lies of the man-pleasers as Larry King asks “Pastor” Joel Osteen:

KING: What is the prosperity gospel?

OSTEEN: I think the prosperity gospel in general is — well I don’t know. I hear it too. I don’t know. I think what sometimes you see is it’s just all about money. That’s not what I believe. It’s the attitude of your heart, and so you know, we believe — but I do believe this, that God wants us to be blessed. He wants us to be able to send our kids to college, excel in our careers. But prosperity to me, Larry, is not just money, it’s having health. What good is money if you don’t have health?

Osteen is being very misleading and disingenuous when he says – “Well I don’t know. I hear it too.” Yeah, you’ve heard it too all right; from your “daddy” Pastor John Osteen whom you worked side by side with for 17 years! The senior Osteen was clearly known as a Word Faith teacher, and regularly preached this highly aberrant prosperity “gospel.” Oh, and then there’s this little bit of information from Osteen himself:

Sometimes it is hard for us to grasp that God wants us to prosper in every way…God wants us to prosper financially, to have plenty of money, to fulfill the destiny He has laid out for us. One of the most important Biblical principles that shows us how to prosper is the principle of sowing and reaping…

People tell me, “Joel, He is God. If He wants to bless me, He can.” Friend, God works by laws. You can’t expect to reap a harvest without first planting your seeds. If you will be faithful and do what God is asking you to do, God will do His part. Don’t let the enemy deceive you into holding on to your seed–get it into the ground!

As you read this, God may be speaking to your heart. Trust that He will direct you how and where He wants you to sow your seed. If you are moved to send a seed gift in the enclosed reply envelope…” (Joel Osteen, letter from his ministry 2005).

Busted; anyone remotely familiar with the Cult of the Word Faith Movement recognizes this blatant pitch for money, but apparently when you smile, a lie becomes less of a lie to the evangelical camp. When are these fools going to wake up? Do we really think this idiocy is from the Lord? If not, then can you take a guess as to just where it actually is coming from?

Here’s a little hint, there is only one other source.

Then as the host turns up the heat a little bit we see the human weakness of the seeker sensitive man-pleasers begin to more fully emerge. Larry King asks Osteen:

KING: How about issues that the church has feelings about? Abortion? Same-sex marriages?

OSTEEN: Yeah. You know what, Larry? I don’t go there. I just …

KING: You have thoughts, though.

OSTEEN: I have thoughts. I just, you know, I don’t think that a same-sex marriage is the way

God intended it to be. I don’t think abortion is the best. I think there are other, you know, a better way to live your life. But I’m not going to condemn those people. I tell them all the time our church is open for everybody.

A Pastor Must Stand For God’s Word

As a pastor you “don’t go there”; you “just…?” Pastor Osteen, you just what?! It looks to me that while “Pastor” Osteen has “thoughts” in general, he obviously hasn’t given these critical issues much thought. You don’t think “abortion is the best”; then apparently you aren’t bothered by the slaughter of thousands of innocent human lives in the abortion mills of this nation. The Bible clearly calls this murder! All one needs to do is to look at Psalm 139 to see an Old Testament reference to God’s complete and absolute sovereignty regarding the beginning and ending of a human life. It’s really not that hard to understand Pastor Joel.

I guess the real question is: Will the evangelical community finally wake up from this seeker sensitive self-centered nightmare where it is embracing the Ecumenical Church of Deceit before it’s too late?

He who has an ear, let him hear…
