And those who don't act are those who do not believe.

Your beef is not with Lamar but with James.

It is a good sign that this rebuke stings, it is a indication that your heart may still be soft enough to repent of the foolishness of faith alone theology.

James is not calling you a fool.

He is calling the notion of believing faith without deeds being biblical as foolish.

Obedience is needed for both.

It is you who is conflating obedience and assistance.

Again, If you all want to save yourself by works of the flesh (water baptism) feel free.

But that's the thing, I'm not troubled by works. They are to be expected of someone who has become a new creation. I just don't have people doing things they don't believe.
And you are the 2nd person to defend unrighteousness behavior. That is your work. You don't believe his actions were sinful. Do you suppose @Lamar was loving me and attempting to edify me with his post?

The problem with that approach is that Peter, at Pentecost, did not tell the crowd to repent, then make a choice whether to be baptized.
They asked the question... "men and brethren, what must we do?"

Peter's answer..... "repent and be baptized...." no choice offered or suggested.

It's not a choice.... it's obedience to God's will....

Actually yes he did

Repent ya (old english plural form of you) and let every one of you (singular)

even the old english bibles get it right.. That the command to be baptized is sent to individuals. not everyone in the crowd
