Oh, wait, I thought it Isaiah the prophet referenced in Luke 3 but it was Esaias the prophet, then obviously he wasn't was escorted by them since it is written in the Word that "Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized,"

because they were local syrian auxiliaries and were interested in John's message

82, wow that is great. Interested spectators is certainty one perspective, yet Luke 3:14 seems to suggest a little more that spectator role, "And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do?" or at least in my opinion.

Look at Acts 22. Paul also got baptized after he believed in Christ. But his sins weren't forgiven until he was baptized.

And I [Paul] answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest. ... And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do. ...

And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt [there], Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, ... now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Acts 22:8-16​

Whatever you feel better in calling it, no one agreed in Christ's words perfectly and there was contention, I am not going to sit here and argue you with what to call not agreeing in Christ.

It is the blood of Jesus that washes our sins away - not water baptism. This is false teaching that water baptism washes sins away when the abundance of scripture testifies to that it is the blood of Jesus ONLY that saves and washes our sins away. Water baptism is an outward representation of what happened when we believed in Christ.

It's in faith in His blood that we have remission of sins. - not faith in being water baptized. This is what activate the righteousness of God to operate in our lives to come into our spirits to make us new creations in Him..

I think we can infer that Jesus approved of water baptism, because He and His disciples were doing just that.

In fact, John's disciples were ticked because Jesus and his disciples were baptizing more folks than they were...

If we really look at what was said to Paul in context in Acts 22 we will see exactly what Paul was "appointed" to do. Thank God he did get water baptized and had a clear conscience before God now.

No one is saying NOT to be water baptized. Here you have said water baptism is for the forgiveness of sins when tons of scripture say it's by the blood of Jesus that we have forgiveness of sins and that we believe in Christ and what He has done.

In this religion of water baptism in order to receive forgiveness of sins - if a person dies before they get water baptized - they don't have forgiveness of sins even though they have received Jesus as their Lord.

This is not the gospel of the grace of Christ and this is completely false teaching and is in effect anti-Christ belief. Water baptism does not save - Jesus blood redeemed us and we have that through by grace through faith in Him only.

Every believer should get water baptized as it is representative of what happened to us when we heard the gospel and received Christ by faith.

There is obviously a difference between being water baptized and being baptized into the body of Christ when a person believes.

Some people get this mixed up as the water baptism is representative of what already happened to us when we believed in Christ.

Some people see "baptized" and all they can think about is water. It means to be "immersed into something"

Here is a scripture that shows the word "baptized" does not always mean water. It's a representative of being baptized into Moses and this was not being immersed in water in Moses.

Acts 10 shows this perfectly as they did receive the Holy Spirit after they believed in Christ. Then they were water baptized. Eph. 1:13 shows this as well.

I dont believe the thread was started by someone who actually particiapted in the other threads where there was great opposition to the words of Christ, but I wouldnt tell such a one to let go of their questions because others couldnt take up the topic civilly.

I might add for the others to add the scripture for the person and consider letting go of speaking garbage (or the other nonsense) because we can probably agree that scripture isnt the nonsense and letting go of his words wouldnt be advisable, just let go of being contentious about things.

I agree with you, and not to come in between here, but just to have somewhat of a non combatant post to springboard off of I am using yours (but just to post to the thread some references if these be helpful to anyone else).

Thank God that the blood of Jesus bought our redemption and now we walk in newness of life. The Lord gives us water baptism to represent what happened to us when we believed in Christ and received the Holy Spirit who baptized us into the body of Christ.

This is the same principal as what Communion represents to us about the death and the blood of Jesus shed for the remission of our sins.

The disciples would have to have been water baptized AFTER Christ's death and resurrection in order to receive this "transfer of the remission of sins and to be regenerated by the Holy Spirit " when people are water baptized as some teach.


All believers should get water baptized! Let's watch some here. it always blesses me to watch as I "see" again what Christ has done for me in the death of my old man and I arose to newness of life with my new creation in Christ.

And we also see later at the counsel where the Pharisee were adding circumcision to Christ's command



Peter reproves them here over adding circumcision after the manner of Moses here



Peter was not reproving baptism asit was Peter who commanded the Gentiles to be baptized
(not circumcised)



As these indeed show their hearts were purified by faith



Peter shows there is no difference between circumcision (after the flesh) or uncircumcision (after the flesh)

Peter is not commanding circumcision (as they who believed of the Pharisees were) Peter did however command the Gentiles to be baptized as he did the other here




Regardless whether the Holy Spirit come upon them after or before, both were still commanded to be baptized just not circumcised, See also Galation 5:2

Again, here the cicumcision observing the Gentiles received the Holy Ghost, the command still follows

what was the significance of Jesus' baptism, why didn't the spirit descend to him prior to this, was it really necessary for him to be baptized? I ask this because people have told me that being baptized isn't really a salvation issue its just a public display that you do to say that you follow Christ. (Or somewhere on those lines) so was this just a public display that God wanted the people or at least John to see? And to hear? Or was the spirit of God not with him until this point?

The Bible says that there is one God,and one mediator between God and men,the man Christ Jesus.

The man Christ Jesus is our Savior,for only a sinless man can approach a holy God,to represent mankind.No man is sinless,so God manifest Himself in flesh,and reconciled mankind back to Himself,in the person of Jesus Christ,God,and man,in harmony.

Jesus had no need to be baptized,for He is sinless,and John did not want to baptize Jesus,for he said,I need to be baptized of you,but Jesus said suffer it to be so now,for it becomes us to fulfill all righteousness.

Jesus had to fulfill the law,and do everything a man had to do to be right with God,so even though He did not need to be baptized,He was baptized,as part of fulfilling all righteousness,because He had to so everything a man had to do to be right with God.
