This subject was briefly touched upon in another thread and I thought it would make for a very interesting conversation. While I don't have time to seek out the scripture seeing as I have to leave for work shortly, here's a short list that the bible mentions just off of the top of my head.

#1.) Three crowns - I know the first crown is the "crown of eternal life" which I assume everyone will be given. The other two escapes my mind at the moment however, I do believe one is a "crown of righteousness".

#2.) A new name written upon a stone. Quite possibly a new name in general or, in my opinion, a title regarding your new position within Christ's newly established physical kingdom.

#3.) In Matthew Jesus talks about how He is going to heaven to prepare a place fgor us and how there are many mansions in heaven. Could this be a heavenly abode or does He referring to a new dwelling place in His Kingdom that also reflects your new position within Christ's Kingdom?

Personally, I believe that Christ Himself and His will for our lives to be our greatest reward. To seek after anything seems sort of self centered to me.

Anyways, if anyone else can think of anything please list it. Also, if you can think of a verse of scripture to confirm it, that would be much appreciated as well.

Without going to scripture, here's a couple of different ones I've heard..

rewards are the type of house you get in heaven. Big gold mansions for the most faithful, small little wood huts for the least.

Rewards are your proximity to Christ. There seems to be a "pecking order" in heaven where God chooses who gets to sit at the right and left of Christ. Presumably those with the highest honor granted by God. This may be related to your occupation in heaven. If you are least, you might just be heaven's janitor. If great, you get to rule over some cities or something.

When I say "in heaven" I may also mean your occuption or duty in the new earth. Because as far as I understand it, believers don't live in heaven with God that's God's throne, they live on the new earth which is somewhat like our own.

Some may be inside the city of Jerusalem, others may be forced to live outside.

*lol*

Yeah there are some pretty outrageous theories out there. I, for one believe, that we will rule and reign with Christ once He establishes His throne here on earth. If feel Christ's Kingdom on earth will mirror what has already been established in heaven with Christ being king and we will assume various roles. All in preparation for the New Jerusalem which occurs after the white throne judgment.

It is not clear in the Bible exactly what our rewards will be.

9 However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" Corinthians 2:9.

I have heard people discuss this topic before. For me knowing GOD and having Jesus is "the prize" What else do we need. GOD will supply all our needs in Heaven as HE does here on earth.

Blessings, Hope

The reason why I wanted to talk about this subject is because there are many here who believe that a person can lose heavenly rewards. Personally I believe Jesus Himself to be the only reward and that eternal life, although not to be taken lightly, is but a benefit of that relationship.

I feel that if we go to church just to escape eternal ****ation then our motives are selfish and we are doing it for all the wrong reasons. I also feel that a lot of people currently in the church fit into that category and that is the reason why the church looks so much like the world. They haven't truly been transformed by the person that is Jesus Christ through His Holy Spirit.
