Hi folks! Just wanted to post a video of this fish whose life cycle is pretty depressing, to cheer up those who get depressed about their own lives. Sometime it helps to know that something out there is actually worse off than you! Plus you have God and they don't.

Yup. Gotta agree. If the video is real, it would be terrible to be a tripod fish. Strange that they are still around today.

Why stop there... you could be a microbiotic lifeform that lives in a person's colon and eats their poop. Expecting anything more out of life is just so unreasonable and unthankful.

I'm just thankful for my job... Every time I see the trash truck driving by in the rain. And when it's bone-chilling cold outside. And when it's sweltering. Yup, I just loooooove my job.

Always leave your trash cans neat and tidy, easy for them to get to fast. They got enough to deal with. And be glad you don't have that job.

That is actually a really good and relevant point- I've been trying to get the bosses at work to get semi-serious about battery waste management: apparently waste management installations across the US have increased to 5000 fires per year mostly due to waste-batteries; which ultimately makes their operations more costly, which in turn makes their services more costly to us. I try to put things in terms of money, so that I don't sound preachy... not that that even works all the time. Back when I worked in a kitchen, at least most of the food managers understood why you shouldn't mass-dump fryer oil, and stuff like that.

It's appreciated that you're so thoughtful to the trash collectors!

In New York City, garbage collection is a union job and highly regarded. It actually pays well with great benefits and their union has clout with the City (because the City will be at their mercy if they strike!). It also has a high retention rate. You just have to be really reliable and the early years filter out those that aren't.

1 2nd the motion to that. i was fortunate to meet the right people in Manhattan when i was down there. agreement's, contracts, associations & transactions in Manhattan are finalized in unspoken ways, sometimes.

I agree. And actually it’s very peaceful, driving around seeing new things day in day out. Always something new happening in a city. You’re left to your own accord. No one to bother you in your little cab. It may not be seen as a prestigious job. I don’t see why not. Usually it’s the people who do the jobs that aren’t deemed good that actually make the world move. Now I may be biased but I wouldn’t want to be caught in an office all day even making twice the wage. No Thankyou. That’s why god made everyone a bit different. We all have different roles to play, none less important then the other.
