I'm a pretty new christian, and I was just wondering if "Christ" means "Messiah" when it is translated. I've heard that it was, but I was just wondering.

hi gigit, yes I think you are right. The Hebrew word meaning Messiah is equivalent to Christ in the Greek. Both words mean "anointed", like with oil.

Jewish traditional customs associated an appointment to a special purpose with the customary "anointment" of a person with holy anointing oil
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christ

So when people started calling Him "the Christ", they were saying He was the anointed one, appointed to a special purpose by God.

And I think the word Jesus means God our Saviour.

So "Jesus Christ" really means, God our Saviour the anointed one , appointed to a special purpose by God.
