Mark Twain wasn't even his real name either. It was Samuel Clemens.
He wrote a lot of things, not all that was true. He wrote fiction even.

What are you talking about. Plus Mark Twain was only ONE guy, and he didn't travel over all of Israel, just went to the parts where he hardly saw any people.

Apologies, yes Mark Twain. I was reading an extract from Tom Sawyer before I posted.

Israel is a tiny country, 420 km from Lebanon to Egypt. There is a cattle station bigger than Israel in Australia. (Anna Creek in South Australia)

The only population centre in that time was Jerusalem. I read Twain's diary of his journey. He was not at all impressed.
 
Ok, well, it was left in a state when the Romans razed it. They never really recovered when the temple got destroyed.
