Give me the best book you have read lately that helped you grow closer to God besides the Bible.

Only Bible here now, but years ago C.S. Lewis Screwtape Letters made an impression.
 
The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer. I've read many the past couple of years but this one spoke directly to me.

The Approaching Apocalypse by Robert Adams. Learning what lies ahead really inspired me to prepare and be ready, not to mention it gets you more excited, just like learning about a foreign country before your trip makes you more excited, assured, prepared, etc. Our destination is the Kingdom of God.
