LAUNDRY LIST
[Chapter 1]

Consecrate:

consecrated
/ˈkänsəˌkrādəd/
adjective

1. (of a church or land) having been made or declared sacred:
"a Christian burial in consecrated ground"

Powered by Oxford Dictionaries

People also ask:
What does being consecrated to the Lord mean?

Consecration is actually our service to the Lord. The apostle Paul says in Romans 12:1, “I exhort you therefore, brothers, through the compassions of God to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service.”
What does consecrate or consecration mean?

" In a general sense, the term “consecration” refers to the act of dedicating oneself to a specific purpose or intention. To “consecrate” yourself essentially means to wholly dedicate yourself to something of greatest important.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Consecration is rarely spoken of here, or even in Sermons that I have heard in my lifetime. For whatever reason, consecration seems to be overlooked when speaking of a Christians life.

Consecration begins when one accepts Jesus into their lives as Lord and Savior. When saved, the old man is replaced with the new, and this new man is an empty vessel that is now ready to be filled by Christ/Holy Spirit. One becomes a babe in the Word as spoken of by Paul:
1 Corinthians 3:1) And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
This is the beginning of our surrendering "all" to Christ, and the beginning of our life walk with Christ, and when we begin to grow as Christians, growing to become a mature Christian "full of Him" and His Word. It is a process, and does not come without our effort to "let go" of the old man, the world, and embrace Him and His will for us in our lives. It reminds me of the old Hymn ......

ALL TO JESUS I SURRENDER
ALL TO HIM I FREELY GIVE
I WILL EVER LOVE AND TRUST HIM
IN HIS PRESENCE DAILY LIVE.
CHORUS
ALL TO JESUS I SURRENDER,
HUMBLY AT HIS FEET I BOW
WORLDLY PLEASURES ALL FORSAKEN
TAKE ME JESUS, TAKE ME NOW
CHORUS
ALL TO JESUS I SURRENDER
MAKE ME SAVIOR WHOLLY THINE
LET ME FEEL THINE HOLY SPIRIT
TRULY KNOW THAT THOU ARE MINE
CHORUS
ALL TO JESUS I SURRENDER,
LORD I GIVE MYSELF TO THEE
FILL ME WITH THY LOVE AND POWER
LET THY BLESSING FALL ON ME
CHORUS:
I SURRENDER ALL
I SURRENDER ALL
ALL TO THEE MY BLESSED SAVIOR
I SURRENDER ALL.

After accepting Christ, and desiring Him to be "all" in our lives, and in "full" control, we still hold onto some parts of our lives, and this is why becoming fully consecrated is a process. We still rely on our wisdom to make decisions and our earthly commitments to guide our footsteps. I suppose this is both natural and to be expected because we have earthly commitments to fulfill. Our families, our jobs, our daily lives where we interact with the world. We have a "pattern" to our lives that have directed our lives for quite some time, and we tend to lean on that pattern rather than surrender "all" to Christ.

Hopefully, daily, we strive to pray and rely more and more on seeking His wisdom to direct our paths, and to govern our lives towards His will for our lives. It might well mean a change in our lives, and that can be difficult to accept, or even realize. There can be concern, worry, even fear when Christ reveals to us a "new path" that He has "purposed" us for. Yet, if we fully trust in Him, and fully surrender to Him, He will never fail us, and He will fill us with all that we need to do His will. Remember that old Hymn "Take my Life and let it be"?

Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
*Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in endless praise.

Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice and let me sing,
Always, only for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.

Take my silver and my gold,
Not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose.

Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne.

Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee.

When a Christian is fully consecrated to Christ, they are truly a "mature Christian." They grow from the "babe" to the "spiritual" Christian able to feast on the Word of God. To fully rely on the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit for ALL! The Disciples were fully consecrated.......

Matthew 19:27) Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?

Additional Scriptures to consider:

Romans 12:1) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Galatians 2:20) I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Colossians 1:9) For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

Isaiah 64:8) But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
