The terms left/right, fascist/communist, totalitarianism/anarchy are all indicative of different definitions and descriptions of government.

Take a college course on political economics and you'll learn the common definition of fascism vs. communism deals with political economic governmental manipulation. A fascist government is manipulated by private industry. A communist government owns and operates the means of production. Both oppress their population into continuing the process of industrial production.

Take an historic course on the French revolution and you'll discover the politically ideological definitions of left and right. Liberals literally sat on the left side of the French parliament and conservatives sat on the right side of the room.

Your reference to totalitarianism vs. anarchy is usually defined in good dictionaries as a TYPE of government rather than its ideological or economic underpinnings. In the 1930's Spain was a fascist government, but quite possibly the most benign of its European neighbors at the time. It certainly managed to survive WWII intact and that was no small accomplishment.

Your Biblical references are to ancient Israel, which was a THEOCRACY - governed by religious principles (or the lack of them) rather than modern forms of representative government. In the modern era a theocracy would describe the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or Iran.

Americans who still like to wave their striped flag and sing hymns glorifying war deliberately choose to ignore the encroaching nature of fascism upon every aspect of life in these United States. The republic that existed following WWII no longer exists. Try as we might we will never get it back. In the words of Margaret Mitchell, "it is a civilization gone with the wind."

I did take a college course on government....just back in the day before colleges stopped teaching facts and joined the leftist propaganda machine. Fascism, in whatever economic form it takes, is always a Leftist ideology at its core - because while the private sector may have all the money, it's ultimately the strong arm of big government which protects and enables it to exploit the rest of us.

Case in point: Bill Clinton helped Tyson (which they publicly deny ), the largest processor of chicken in the U.S. at the time, expand in the late 80's with tax breaks, etc., and Tyson located a new plant in Pine Bluff, Ark., Bill's backyard, and lotsa Tyson campaign donations made into the war chest. The victims? Small businesses in the poultry industry who got no such tax breaks or incentives and disgustingly polluted waterways which became off limits for swimming. Could the "evil, greedy, capitalist" Tyson CEO have caused so much harm without the help of big government Slick Willie's? Of course not.

Blaming the private sector for the crimes of government is typical leftist thinking - government can do no wrong and the rich white capitalist men are the cause of all societal ill.

In what book do you read that fascism is leftist? You have it backwards or you have read too many liberal college textbooks.

On the other hand, I fully agree that universities and colleges are so liberal these days that even the suggestion of right wing definition is taboo.

Until I retired I was employed by a local college. On one occasion I mentioned to an instructor that I had a small collection of guns. She almost spewed her lunch on the floor. You'd think I had confessed to murder or bank robbery or something. Meanwhile these same people, who claim to hold the moral high ground, were actively attempting to undermine the work of Campus Crusade for Christ, (now renamed as CRU).

You are correct in your statement that leftist thinking blames the private sector for crimes of government. How then is this right wing motivation liberal/leftist? One cannot logically lay guilt upon a group that is the group itself. Liberals are left wing/socialist-communist. Conservatives are right wing/capitalist-fascist.

In actual fact, the government of the United States is motivated by right wing/fascist tendencies. The military-industrial complex sucks taxpayer money to maintain and expand its own existence and agenda.

The de facto role of the US armed forces will be to keep the world safe for our economy and open to our cultural assault. To those ends, we will do a fair amount of killings. - Major Ralph Peters

The intelligence community is the shadow government behind the elected members of the Washington gridlock community. It maintains and controls covert operations abroad and domestic policy at home.

"The CIA has every imaginable media outlet covered." - William Casey former director of the CIA

Finally the financial cartel of America (a great deal more than Wall Street by a long shot) holds the purse strings of policy.

"Banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies." -Thomas Jefferson

It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning. - Henry Ford

Taken together these three UNelected branches of the American government decide policy. Called the Deep State by Mike Lofgren in his book of the same name, these blocks of power make the real decisions. They are altogether fascist in tone and nature and operation.

The elected branches of the American government are subservient to the Deep State.

It is important for Americans to be aware of the nature of fascism in that it supports and is motivated by corporate special interests at all times. This is why congress acts with glacial decrepitude when issues of benefit to the tax payers are considered and why they move like summer lightning when banks or mega-corporations want a bail-out. This sort of thing doesn't happen in a Communist government because the government itself holds the reigns of power.

But Americans deny even the definition of the term fascist because it is usually identified with 1930's Germany. Americans do not understand the over all view of history that suggests fascism, like republics, can take many forms - all corporately sponsored. Even American liberals are grossly over affected by corporate interests. This is why the line is so foggy in the United States.

Fascism can’t survive without a government big enough to force it upon us all.
Correct. Fascism and Communism are simply twins. And Hitler's Nazi Party was in fact a socialist party. In both ideologies the state is the *god*, and the dictator (or handful of tyrants at the top) are their to appease this god.

We are now seeing this ideology being implemented in America, where the Democrat Party should be labelled the Communist-Fascist Party of America. Biden has been acting as a dictator from day one, since both houses are in the hands of the evil Democrats.

This Trump impeachment is no different than the shaming of dissidents by Communists through bogus charges, with absolutely no evidence, and no due process. Let's hope that someone has the guts to now impeach Pelosi. Schumer, Biden, and Harris.

AGAIN......a Fascist government is supported by corporate interests. It can be best defined as Corporatism.

The government forces it's population into compliance by force, by propaganda and by creating a false sense of patriotism.

The Reichstag Fire and 911 are perfect examples of governmental manipulation of the general population by intimidation, by propaganda, and by false patriotism. As proof consider the end result of the Reichstag fire was WAR. The end result of 911 was endless WAR. Fascism lives and breathes in an atmosphere of WAR and fear.

The underlying support of all governments is the will of the people, but when the people are so gullible they believe everything they see on TV they can be easily manipulated by government influences whether they be Communist or Fascist. (*)

"Naturally the common people don't want war, but after all, it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy.

It is always a simple matter to drag people along whether it is a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, a parliament, or a communist dictatorship.

Voice or no voice the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy.

All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger.

It works the same in every country."
- Reich Marshall Hermann Goering

I am in favor of peace;
but when I speak, they want war

I know it and you know it, but there's a guy on here claiming that Big Government Fascism is a "right of center" entity. I tried to tell him that the further right you move from the Totalitarian left margin, the less government you have until you get all the way over to Anarchy, but he's not convinced.

Some people still believe that the ancient definitions that they have been taught are still valid. That is far from the case. Big government can NEVER be right of center since it elevates "the state" over the individual. Which also means that it despises individual liberties and freedoms and makes the state "the god".

In Nazi Germany it was "the Fatherland". In the Soviet Union (which is now Russia and its satellites) it is "Mother Russia". But those are both cloaks for a despotic state -- big government controlling and tyrannizing the people. No dissent was tolerated, and that is exactly what we are now seeing in America. Big Tech has made sure that only the Leftist narrative will be allowed in the media and in government. Couple this with COVID Tyranny, and you have conditions which far exceed what happened under Hitler and Stalin.

You seem to be stuck in a loop of associating "right wing" with "corporations", which then leads you to reason that when "right wing" corrupt corporations and crony public officials get together to exploit "we the people", the resulting Fascist private/public partnership must reside on the "right wing" side of the of the political spectrum.

That's not how it works.

The political spectrum doesn't care where government support comes from, but simply how much power does it have over the people. On the left is total government control and on the right, anarchy.

I repeat: Fascism can't survive if government is too small to impose itself upon the people, and thus is a left wing ideology:)

Exactly...for instance, there's a dirty secret that income generated through "corporate activity" is the only income the IRS can legally tax -- WHICH MEANS THE MAJORITY OF US WHO TRADE LABOR FOR WAGES, WHICH IS NOT CORPORATE ACTIVITY GENERATED INCOME, OWE NOTHING AT THE END OF THE YEAR...yet would we still pay income tax if there was no threat of well trained, well equipped, well motivated jack booted IRS thugs breaking down your door? Of course not. I don't see what the hard part is.

The political spectrum DOES CARE where its support comes from.

Support comes in the form of money, not some vacuous notion of 'people power'.

Power is influence over people, usually in the form of force or persuasion - manipulation. For instance, a church pastor has limited power over his congregation in the form of spiritual and intellectual influence, but he may not have any money.

Financial support provides the backbone of the power structure, but isn't power in and of itself. Money buys power.

I think you are focusing too much on the people's place in the political power structure. People have always been pawns in the hands of the influential and wealthy.

Poverty buys nothing. Wealth buys anything.

Corporations aren't necessarily corrupt. Like vultures that dine on roadkill it's just what they do. When corporations buy influence from politicians they do it for their own interests. Terms like "right or left wing", "partisan politics", or "usurpation" and etc. all describe a process or group of processes. Each nation has its own economic and political framework. Because SIN influences all decisions in American government the difference between left and right has become muddied.

For instance, in the years preceding WWII American politics could be neatly defined as liberal or conservative. Each party represented a different point of view. Conservatives, generally Republican, supported business and its management. Liberals, generally Democrats, supported the workers and labor unions.

Today those definitions are obsolete and completely inaccurate. Today labor unions are opposed by both parties. Gone are the days when a general strike crippled the entire nation. Gone are the days when labor unions, albeit corrupt as all hell, fought and won financial benefits and worker related safety policies. Today the Democratic party is more conservative, in terms of supporting big business, than the Republican party was in 1950. Some believe the Republican party is leaning heavily toward totalitarian fascist policies. BOTH act in ways defined as fascist in nature. Gone are the days when one party expressed a desire for a large military and the other wanted resources devoted to the people instead. Today BOTH parties pour money into the military like water through a fire hose. BOTH parties work vigorously for war JUST LIKE traditional definitions of fascism.

Money buys political favors especially in Washington, DC. State and local governments aren't immune either. I participated in a local election several years ago and discovered in the internal workings of things how really corrupt the whole system really is.

You seem to have more faith in the people than the people deserve. Americans are all stupidly gullible. Their opinion can be made to sway toward fascist militarism (as in post 911) or in excessive incomprehensible embrace of liberal policy (as in the Trump witch hunt).

Fascism IS financial corruption of government officials for the benefit of corporations . It doesn't matter how large or small the government may be.

There isn't any such thing as "we the people" in America today. There hasn't been any of that since 1860. You are basing your opinions on the vagaries of popular fantasy regarding government. People are stupid, especially American people.

Money buys power and in America that can be easily defined as fascism USA. Unfortunately the limited capacity of Americans to understand their own political system causes a massive blind spot in their understanding or willingness to actually effect policy. In America people vote for their favorite candidates (bought and paid for by corporate special interests). After the election Americans throw up their hands and pay no further attention to what their candidate actually DOES. They say it's in the hands of God when God has given us hands to do a proper job in the first place. Our hands are slack and we have no idea what's really going on because we choose not to know.

Well, the only people screaming "fascism" today are those on the left criticizing the right, and the very tactics they claim to use to fight the myth of "right wing fascism" are left wing tactics: leftist big government censure of freedom, leftist media brainwashing, leftist zombie use strong arm tactics described in "Rules for Radicals" with "Radicals" defined politically as "far left ideologues, etc.

None of that sounds remotely even "right of center", but we'll have to agree to disagree :)

I believe there is one thing we CAN agree on. Politicians will say and do anything to support their own grasp of power, their own position in the light of political advantage (and of course the money doesn't hurt, does it?)

I saw a bumper sticker the other day. It was in the form of a paw print and read, "My dog attacks congress." While this attitude is certainly not appropriate it does reflect the belief of millions of Americans. We simply do not trust our elected officials.

It has been said that if one wants to go crazy he should move to Washington, DC where it will not be noticed.

"The CIA has every imaginable media outlet covered." - William Casey former director of the CIA

Under dictatorship, people are enslaved but they know it. Here, the politicians constantly lie to people and they become immune to these lies because they have the privilege of voting. But voting is rigged and democracy here is a gigantic profusion of lies and clever brainwashing.” - Allen Dulles, former director of CIA

The above quotes support my contention that the sources of information available to the American public are toxic. Words uttered by American politicians mean one thing on Monday, something else on Tuesday and are illegal or politically incorrect by Friday. Is this not true of us today?

Therefore those who scream 'fascism' do so not to clarify a classic definition of the word, but to justify their own position and to cast aspersions upon their opponents whoever they may be. Thus I agree with all of what you said, but disagree with interpretations of words and meanings. For us it is useful to rely upon definitions to clearly understand what each other is saying or writing. For government it is necessary to muddy words so as to promote their own agenda - typically not in the best interests of tax payers.

Do we agree on the premise that confusion is vomited by government, but clarification is sought by citizens?

I don't see a problem with you and me, sir.

The problem I see is the fog our government is pulling over the eyes of the entire nation.

Fascism and Communism are not twins, unless the aspect of totalitarian oppression is considered a measure. Politically and economically and historically they are on opposite sides of the spectrum. Somewhere in the middle is the ebb and flow of national politics some call liberty or individual self-determination.

Both American parties continually jockey for positions of power. They do this by use of slogans and buzz words. It doesn't matter a twit if those words and slogans are true or accurate. What does matter is that the public fixates on them and understands they should support one party or the other. In truth neither party is actively working for the benefit of the American public as a whole.

Individually people are intelligent and employ a modicum of common sense. As a group they are dumb as rocks. Not for nothing did Jesus refer to people as sheep. He did so because as a group they can be easily led around.

You use the word "label" to describe Democrats. Your assessment is correct as far as labeling goes. Unfortunately in American politics there is no such thing as "truth in labeling". Congress is not a box of breakfast cereal. We have no idea what we're getting when we vote for someone. We only HOPE we're getting what we want. In the end we never do. I suppose that's why so many of us don't trust the government any more. There have been too many lies for far too long for us to accept what they're saying.

Only the very young or the mentally challenged believe politicians any more. The rest of us hope that something good will come of the mess that's become American politics.

"Everything is changing. People are taking the comedians seriously and the politicians as a joke." - Will Rogers

"There's no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you." - Will Rogers

Despite the profound weight of toxic rhetoric coming out of Washington and the talking heads on TV telling us what we ought to believe, America has become a fascist police state - according to the classic definition of those words.

It's sad America is not a beacon of order and sanity.

Esau sold his birthright for stew. Honestly, it was a more reasonable trade than whatever we Americans have done to our country.
There is no emoji I could use to react to how I feel about this comment. Incredibly sad.

You make some good points, but your post is hindered by your narrow focus on American examples. You also did not clearly define what "Leftist thinking" is, while vigorously decrying it.
Agreed. There's no real definition of leftist/liberal thinking being used. Lots of heat, though.

It is ALREADY the undoing of America. This is not something coming in the future. And the ones who were supposed to be careful and vigilant all turned out to betray everything they should have stood for.
The nation is already lost. (1 Sam 4:21)

IF GOD DOES NOT JUDGE AMERICA THEN HE WILL HAVE TO APOLOGIZE TO SODOM AND GOMORRAH.

Decades ago America turned its back upon God and literally told Him to hit the road. There is no God Bless America any more. Read the newspaper and watch TV stories. There are no blessings upon the nation - only one horrific event after another in a march of destruction & despair. It makes good press, though and that's exactly what the media loves about it. The nation will go down upon its knees with the news coverage in the early evening hosted by a smiling news anchor personality.

But the greatest issue of wrath is yet to come upon America - soon, but yet to come. The time is now to repent and seek God's forgiveness and personal deliverance.

God will NOT deliver the nation. We've already crossed the Rubicon according to many experts in all fields except those that patronize the public. God WILL deliver individuals that seek His protection earnestly and humbly.

It is time to repent.

Something wicked is coming our way. Repent.

The most concise definition of "leftist thinking" is "anything that defies logic, elevates feelings over facts, and compels chicks to dye their hair purple or compels dudes to vote Democrat".
lol

works for me

or as some other poster put it: If you want to know the truth about [whatever] watch cnn and other msm.. and believe the exact opposite..

(a little overly-simplified but hey... seems more/less true)
