To me it seems the immigration laws are not working, as so many illegal immigrants would be legal if things were easier on both sides, because both countries need the labour and the funds.

What kind of delusional statement is this? Immigration laws pertain to LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. When there is a migrant invasion, then those laws are being totally disregarded. And no, the USA does not need a huge illegal labor force from Central America. There are enough unemployed people who are actual citizens and who need to be put to work. As to funds, the cartels in Mexico and Central America own multi-billions of dollars. They should be made to use that money for their own people by their own governments. But it ain't going to happen.

Do we see any patterns emerging today in our own culture and political atmosphere?

• We see lots of promises including free healthcare, free tuition, no borders, better quality of life as we slow climate change, lgbt rights, women's rights that include abortion, etc.
• We see Conservative media censorship and propagation of liberal media, cheering for detestable entertainment, and cancel culture decides who is credible to have a voice.
• The Bernie Sanders/ New Democratic platform has blamed the wealthy for all the ills in America. Capitalism is bad, Socialism good.
• We have seen within government the use of indoctrination by theories like Critical race theory to reprogram our soldiers thinking
• Civil war is being feared within the States
• Riots created by far-left radicals and allowed by radical mayors have both candidates saying if you vote for me, the violence will stop. I for one believe one over the other.
• Manipulation of words. Gender now means fluent with 100+ different pronouns. Marriage is no longer defined as men and women. An unborn child is just a clump of cells. Calling opponents bigots, Bible thumpers, deplorable, etc
• Any crisis like a mass shooting, climate change or covid will be politicized to bring about favored policy
• Big Tech has created massive monopolies like Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Google, Walmart, etc to the point where small businesses have a hard time competing. Especially if Big Tech or giant companies use foreign labor.
• We have not seen government killings but we are seeing ANTIFA and BLM mobs kill people.
• Radical Democrats are attacking, burning, and shutting down churches.
• And every political candidate will blame their predecessors

In our bible study not long ago we made a study of the rise of Hitler comparing it to what was happening in the US, to see if there were similarities. There were. As an example, there had been a meeting with a group of ministers asking them to use the scriptures telling us to submit to government as a reason to vow to not interfere with our government. Hitler used this as a way to calm the clergy about his murders.

As an example, there had been a meeting with a group of ministers asking them to use the scriptures telling us to submit to government as a reason to vow to not interfere with our government. Hitler used this as a way to calm the clergy about his murders.

Yeah, I think some of the principles of the establishment of totalitarian regimes are similar, despite whether they are left or right.

I am not planning to submit to the government on basic rights given to us under the Constitution no matter what Biden/Harris do. I live in a red state so it's easier because I think the majority are of the same mind on that.
