“Let your speech be always with grace, having been seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” (Col 4.6).

  • “My son, listen to my wisdom; bow your ear to my understanding; in order to keep discretion, that your lips may keep knowledge.” (Proverbs 5.1,2).

One of the mistakes that we make is to look on some occasions as trivial, extraneous in regard to Jesus and His kingdom. Nonetheless, we need to be sedulous in every circumstance that Jesus bring about us, always ready and with alacrity to reach out to people around us.

It’s the truth and the ken of Jesus in our lips that will ward off the deceits of Jesus’ enemies. We can’t forego the purity of Jesus’ doctrine to please the wicked, but we can’t shrug them off too:

  • “And if anyone does not obey our word by this letter, mark that one and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.” (2Thessalonians 3.14,15)

Understand: we strive, not to keep the evil at bay, let alone we can be fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness; instead, our role is to shore up the truth of the gospel (1Timothy 3.15).

Maybe you say: but this is difficult!

  • “Be strong, and He will make your heart stronger, all you who hope in Jehovah.” (Psalms 31.24).

So, have a good week always holding yourself on to the truth that “for by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned” (Matthew 12.37).

"Let your speech be always with grace" should be the filter through which all our words and writings, be tested.
