To me the difference between the letter and the spirit of the law lies in one’s outlook. If one views the law as 640 statutes and precepts that are incumbent on yourself and others; this is the letter of the law.

If one views the law as 5 principles for successful living; that is the spirit of the law.

1) God loves people, including me. He has taken the penalty for (my) sin upon Himself so (I) people don’t need to bear it. If my response to His love prompts me to love Him; I can demonstrate my love of him by living according to His principles.

2) God wants believers to rely on Him for all their needs (material, emotional, and Spiritual) Reliance on anyone or anything else is idolatry.
However we must recognize that God often chooses to work through people (even those who don’t know Him).

3) My attitude toward people (even those who upset, annoy or anger me) should reflect the fact that Jesus loved them enough to die for them; and that they will act differently if or when they come to and act in faith.

4) I, my time, my resources, and my abilities really belong to God, and are His to use as He will.

5) God desires me to spend time with Him: in reading His Word, in prayer, and in collective worship with other believers.

IMO the appointed times of Leviticus 23 are still times that God desires His people to meet with Him.

Aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhh!

II Corinthians doesn't say anything about the 'spirit of the law.' California jurisprudence makes much of the 'spirit of the law.'

IMO, this is some faulty reasoning brought in by men like Ambrose and Augustine. They thought of allegorical interpretation as 'the spirit of the law.'

Paul contrasts the Spirit versus the law. But it's the same thing he's talking about in Romans 7-8. The one who is under the law is under the law of sin. He does the things that he does not want to do. Through this process, through the law, he dies as he does not obey the commandments. Sin deceives him and slays him.

But the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set us free from the law of sin and death.

After the law was given 3000 were slain for disobedience. On the day celebrating the giving of the law, Pentecost, after Christ rose, 3000 were saved after the Spirit was poured out. The letter killeth but the Spirit giveth life.

2 Co 3:6-7
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away
