S
i woke up this morning, still alive
to see another day
the ringing and singing of crickets
beckons me on my way
i stands at the foot of my bed
eyes squinting and straining as light fills my head
pours in through my eyes, never dies
never goes away
i strap up my boots and reach for my keys
the book of true words tucked underneath
fingers calloused and soft tip my hat as i move
out the door, toward the street bathed in light from the moon
early to bed and early to rise
causes light from the stars to reflect in my eyes
crack a smile say a prayer, knowing Jesus is there
turn the key clockwise give the mirrors a stare
soon the sun rises, bathing me with light once again
nothing to fear
nothing to hide
full of life without end
to see another day
the ringing and singing of crickets
beckons me on my way
i stands at the foot of my bed
eyes squinting and straining as light fills my head
pours in through my eyes, never dies
never goes away
i strap up my boots and reach for my keys
the book of true words tucked underneath
fingers calloused and soft tip my hat as i move
out the door, toward the street bathed in light from the moon
early to bed and early to rise
causes light from the stars to reflect in my eyes
crack a smile say a prayer, knowing Jesus is there
turn the key clockwise give the mirrors a stare
soon the sun rises, bathing me with light once again
nothing to fear
nothing to hide
full of life without end
