It would be good to have a listening ear section for those who need someone to talk to. This would be in non-disclosure agreement, understood to be in effect for all who come to talk or volunteer to "listen".

Well, that's kind of the entire site.
And the threads are public, even searchable from Google.
What legal actions could be taken against someone who talked about what was shared? Assuming that would even be legally binding, especially on an international site.
Or, what, banning? That would leave the speakers trust still violated, personal details exposed and nothing as repayment.
And if this were all able to be legal, what's to stop people from suing the site if their private details were publicized?
What if the site were hacked and that person released the details of a multitude of people?
It's well understood if you put it on the internet it's out there. Period. And you can't guarantee it won't be exposed. So for a small site to take on the legal risks suggested would mean one mistake and the site could be doomed.
If people wish to he anonymous then create an account with no details.
The internet itself allows users to be mostly anonymous. Most users on this site wouldn't know how to, nor have the interest in, tracking someone down anyways.
It is actually a very poor standard if it were only implementable by external forces or threats such as legal action. I was thinking along the lines of self policing, intentionally keeping alt against accidentally blurting out stuff. However, you are right, that this is google searchable does make it awkward. A for all the site being one for listening ears, could be debatable.
To be listened to or to listen does not necessitate that the subject is taboo or restricted does it?
No, it does not, but desiring a standard of discretion among participants may necessitate discretion in who is allowed to participate in the first place, which eliminates public boards... which is why there is a private message option. A PM may be initiated by anyone who has been a member from before the platform change of May 2018, as well as new members who pay a membership fee to help support this site. Non-paying newer members can also be invited into a PM
That would be good I did not know there is such an option nowadays. I was only thinking of being listened to, or doin the listening myself but such discretion would be a welcome development indeed.
You've clearly not been active on this site. Self policing doesn't exist here. Spend some time in the Bible Discussion Forum. Name calling, insults and personal attacks are the norm, and just for not agreeing with someone. And much of it is permitted.
There's no way of knowing the character of someone that comes to this site, either. Not everyone that comes here has good motives. For example many married women get hit on on this site.
Remember the parable of the tares. We cannot really tell by appearances. We are, moreover, all susceptible to our own lusts, if we allow ourselves to succumb to them. Makes me wonder, Would it help us keep straight if we actually used our real names as our usernames here?. That woULd be a kind of accountaABILITY, WOULDN'T IT?
Well people aren't going to do that. So it's not relevant. And if we recall the Pharisees names were well known, and that didn't stop them from sending someone to murder and torture. So I doubt the Pharisees on this site would be phased by some name calling.
Religious self righteousness gives people a great sense of power and importance (even if it's not real).
As we come to find out in life,to hear is one thing, to preform the action can be quite another!( James 1:22) ( Rom 10:17,Faith does comes by hearing,but that is only the first part of faith!! Notice what it says AND!!!hearing BY THE Word, another words action associated with what we do hear! BOY that took me a long time to realize!! LOL. Example, you go to a store you believe will have what you need,and so you travel to that store! You ACT upon your belief!! That is key to faith! There is much more to realize in ones faith,but this is a good start for beginners.

I think the way I did it was to go to one of the alerts, click on it, scroll down where it gives the option to stop receiving the alerts and click it. I think that was the way I did it.
