What do you think about this actual subject¿? A controversial theme....

I think if two people want to be together THAT bad they should go for it, provided they have been talking long enough to know that neither side is acting on a whim. I personally wouldn't move for anybody though. There's single people everywhere that are looking for a better half. I don't think traveling is necessary unless you live in a really low population area and already know everybody in your town.

I think people just aren't socializing enough but that's just my opinion.

Been there, done that. Still am. :) We've been together 4 years now.

I've responded to so many similar threads about this. I get tired of telling the same thing over and over, so I'll keep this post short.

It works for some people, but not others.

One person's experience with long distance relationships do not reflect the experiences of ALL who have tried them. So keep an open mind if you are interested in that kind of thing. And look elsewhere if you are not.
It's a very personal choice.

I don't get whats so controversial about it. Some people don't like the idea, some do. Just like everything else.

personally, I've tried the long distance thing and it just rarely works out. I have no interest in a long distance relationship at this point because I have no desire to leave my kids to move away somewhere, and I don't expect some a girl online to be so head over heals for me she wants to come live in Michigan, blech.

Short but very clear opinion..I agree with you.Thanks.

In the end, the only way, the most excellent way, is to ask God to show you His will. Even then, it very possibly might not 'work out' based on your hopes, but if you truly sought God's will and are following it, then you know that it happened for a very specific reason; whether you know it or not.

Where I'm at right now, I could see God moving me a long ways, but I doubt it would be for a girl, no matter how great/beautiful she was.

im too cheap to fly to the other side, but hey if someone wants to follow me by all means do it!!

hmm.. for me, long distance relationship is good if both of you are faithful and praying for the hope that you will meet and be together someday. A lot of foreign (Western) guys look and search for Asian women because they do believe that Asian women are better than the women in their country (no offense to the ladies.. it's what i got from the foreign guys). Many websites for dating Asian women are already seen in the internet.. And a lot of testimonies I have read that most of foreign guys who chose Asian women were happy in their marriage now. So I think long distance relationship really works.. :D Distance is just a number of how far you are both living.. but TRUE LOVE will find your ways to be together no matter how hard and what it cost you, if its God's will, He will brought you together.. Some of true to life Christian stories that I read and inspired me have been into a long distance relationship too.. I remember one said "the more you are both far from each other, the more your love and faithfulness will be tested and will keep your relationship stronger"...:p .. I go for it!

Me and a guy on CC tried to get something going, but it didn't work out. We stayed in contact a lot thru cc, skype, texting etc, but in the end, its pretty difficult without seeing a person face to face. With anything long distance communication is so important. Without some kind of constant contact, it is easy for the relationship to fall apart. We had plans to meet in person but we broke it off.

I've met people online. I've dated people I've met online, I've dated people I've met in person (obviously :p). And honestly, I think the odds are the same. Online is WAY harder, but not impossible. The important thing is to guard your heart and keep in mind that the relationship may not work out romantically. This is true of ANY relationship, friendship, romantic, or otherwise). I believe that my God can set me up with a man down the street or across the country; it's all about His will and what He wants for me. I would move for love and life and if my Father told me to go. Call me a romantic.

Any woman who would ask you to move away from your children isn't worth your time!

This idea doesn't seem so far-fetched to me, but maybe that's because I'm the product of such a relationship. ;)
My mother flew halfway across the planet to be with my Dad, after having only met him in person twice (travel is/was expensive!) This was before the Internet, so they kept in touch through daily (sometimes more than once a day) hand-written letters, and weekly phone calls. They didn't even know each other super well apart from knowing that they both love The Lord and had a fervent desire to serve Him.

Twenty-two years later: It hasn't been a perfect marriage but it has been healthy, honest, continually maturing, and a very nurturing environment for my brother and me. We also got to experience a multicultural upbringing which was, in a word, amazing.

So basically, like everyone else said, it works for some and not for others. I'd say just seek God's wisdom on the matter, and other godly counsel.

When I was a teenager I was in a long distance relationship for a year and a half. We were strong, but eventually the inability of our parents to make it happen for us to meet was the final nail in the coffin. As a Christian there is a pursuit involved in any romantic endeavor. If there is not, then I find it hard to find it holy.

This is, of course, my personal opinion. I am as open to it as I am open to a relationship in person... once I'm divorced. In fact, I would say it would almost be easier because you don't have to risk things you are not supposed to do. But yes, a good phone plan is essential lol

I think it's a personal thing, if two people are up for it and have communicated long enough, and are serious, then go for it. Personally, I don't know, I'm the kind of person who would want to live close to someone I'm in a relationship with. At least a road trip away at the most, but nothing too crazy. lol

I don't think I would even start something long distance because I am not really willing to move. Once I have some more nursing experience and the right job comes up I will move home and happily stay there. Maybe there is a guy who wants to move there IDK. :)

It depends on the people to be honest. It can be tough. But it's worked out so far for me and my hunny. We've been dating since august 1, 2012 last year and haven't regretted it since!
