Ok I just thought I would like to shar a bit of what my pastor spoke on this morning.. It really opened my eyes up to a few things. Was a short but sweet message, He is starting a session of teaching entitled " Lanmines in the Path of the Believer" from a book he had read awhile back.
1 Peter 5:6-11 (New King James Version)
6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. 11 To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
God will support, strengthen and placce us on a firm foundation if we put our trust in him and let him do the leading in our times of facing these landmines.
some of the landmines we face:
1) Pride as in An excessively high opinion of oneself; conceit.
2) Jealousy as in Feeling resentment toward a rival.
3) Envy A feeling of discontent and resentment aroused by and in conjunction with desire for the possessions or qualities of another
4) Disappointments : Unhappiness caused by the failure of one's hopes, desires, or expectations
5) Compromise : To settle an argument by giving up something wanted.
6) Sexual temptations self explainatory
7) Fear: A feeling of agitation and anxiety caused by the presence or imminence of danger
8) Slothfulness : The quality or state of being lazy
These are 8 things in which Satan will put in our lives daily. He will do anything to stop us from being what God wills for each one of us.
Sometimes we look at them and say it is ok just this once to let down here a little and there a little
But in the end we find ourselves farther away from God.
2 Peter 4:7-8 7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. 8
