I desire to be a wife one day but I'm comfortable being single right now. Well, for the most part. It comes and goes.
I don't really care for the phrase "A girl should be so lost in God that a guy must go through Him to get to her." To me, it infers that the guy is only going to God so that he can have the girl. It also makes me think that the girl is completely oblivious to guys around her because she is just THAT focused on God. I don't think that's quite realistic. I don't quite know how to explain it, I just know I don't care for it.
I agree that is something of a fortune cookie answer to an issue that should take more than a graduate thesis to tackle. In fact, it seems somewhat insulting... to all three parties.
One (though not the only) fault I see in it is that I would think that the Guy should already be wrapped up in God as well if he is going to get to her. If the fella is going THROUGH God to get to the girl, to me that implies that this boy isn't going to live under God, just... idunno... storm the castle, throw the princess over his shoulder, and flee into the wilds to force her to be his bride and put up with his barbarism.
In response to OP, I'd say I'm about 88% content with being single right now.
I've got a heap of healing I need to do if I want to have a healthy relationship in the future, so I am focusing on being the best person I can be, growing and healing as needed. A good deal of this is learning to trust again. If God has it in store for me, maybe I will be something other than single someday. Maybe I'll even marry again. I would like to grow old with someone someday. Most days I can remember all day long that I do not need to fill that role Today. Like anything that holds an allure for me (for we are all Tempted to rush into relationships of many kinds other than what/when God wants us to engage in), it comes and goes. The difference in followers of Christ is not what tempts us, but how we respond to it - I think this holds true in how I deal with being single as well.
in summary, in case I failed to say what I mean to: That phase is so trite it's painful. I am mostly content with being single, and am focusing on being better (father, man, Christian, etc) than who I am today - either to just to be a better servant of God, and to potentially prepare myself for someone God leads me to (without emphasis on the last part!). Being single and desiring to not be single is a temptation common to us all (or nearly all). We can choose to respond to this in a better way than the world because we can rely on Christ Jesus.
