I don't really care about silly comments.Did he believe heaven is populated with a number that no man can number?
I take theology seriously.
What I do know is THIS.
If a person wants to go to heaven...
he can.
I don't really care about silly comments.Did he believe heaven is populated with a number that no man can number?
Really? No, the gospels never portray Satan following Jesus around.
What if they don't wish? Doesn't this line of thinking end up in the same place? After all, what else can we say about those who believed the gospel and didn't fall away? God saved the lucky few?I guess it would be that God chose a lucky few.
The gospel all other denominations believe states that ANY person could be saved IF THEY SO WISH.
But isn't God being partial to those who believe and persevere? There is no partiality with God...
anyone wishing to be saved, can be saved.
Does God forgive sins? That's not the full gospel, is it Cameron?
There's a little more.
Man is sinful and requires being saved.
THE GOOD NEWS is that God offered His Son as an atonement for man's sinfulness.
Jesus died for humanity's sins....HUMANITY'S SINS......ALL OF HUMANITY. John 3:16
He died so that we could be reconciled to God,,,as it was in the beginning.
Jesus defeated sin and death. FOR EVERYONE.
Reconciliation with God is required and our YES to jesus will allow that reconciliation.
Here is the Calvinist gospel:
IF GOD CHOSE YOU, YOU WILL BE SAVED.
How could you even witness to anyone?
You'd have to lie to them.
You certainly cannot tell them that if they believe they will be saved...
because that's not what Calvinism teaches.
No gospel.
Do you know who will be saved? Can someone be saved apart from the gospel? Can a Calvinist not say...believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved? You limit the Calvinist in ways scripture does not. And the gospel is Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Every new testament doctrine flows from this. That's not the full gospel, is it Cameron?

My only point to you is that you make claims you can't possibly prove - and I showed you which one. Then you shift the Burden of Proof because you don't respect obligations to prove your claims. The proof is in the lack of any such replies. Now get busy and find those who say heaven is not populated by a number no man can number.
What I said is true, if you care to look for yourself. There are three times that the gospels mention Satan: The temptation of Christ, Jesus speaking to Peter, and Judas' betrayal. Other than those three times, there is no Biblical passage supporting that Satan followed anyone anywhere.Really?
That's quite a statement Roger.
First of all it's not true.
Secondly,,,how would you know?
satan follows EVERYONE around...
and especially his arch enemy...Jesus.
This was the challenge: to find someone who doesn't believe this. You can't. Thanks for your honesty.I don't really care about silly comments.

The lack of evidence of no one coming forth with anyone who doesn't believe heaven is populated with a number no man can number is your proof. Now, produce one and show me false. My only point to you is that you make claims you can't possibly prove - and I showed you which one. Then you shift the Burden of Proof because you don't respect obligations to prove your claims.

Calvinists believe in limited atonement. I disagree with them on this issue. Calvinists had the wrong idea about atonement. The gospel is Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Show me a Calvinist who does not believe this.
I never said otherwise. I said limited atonement doesn't equate to few in heaven.Calvinists believe in limited atonement. I disagree with them on this issue. Calvinists had the wrong idea about atonement.
This has encouraged me, especially bringing to mind the notice of sparkling new lives. Not to make any claims of influence toward it but I can at least take from it an assurance that I was not one to discourage it in any case. But I know this....
whatever you have spoken will not return void.
We never know what kind of an affect anything we say may have
on a person. It may take years to its fruition...it may never happen...
we can only speak the words and God will do the rest.
Wasn't my point of contention with you. Still isn't - mainly because I've no interest in the topic at this time. Dealing with OSAS per the OP is about all I care to deal with doctrinally. Just noticed another of your absolute statements you can't prove and how you seem to think they're legitimate arguments. Not a good habit. Makes you come across as willing to say anything to assert your claim. There are at least five different fallacies in your one simple claim of 'none'. Take it or leave it.The lack of evidence of no one coming forth with anyone who doesn't believe heaven is populated with a number no man can number is your proof. Now, produce one and show me false.
None who believe as I stated have come forward or been proffered. This I believed to be the case. And it is indeed the case. Non-Calvinists are prone to believe that they understand Calvinism better than Calvinists themselves. They don't. They make claims that they Calvinists believe when they do not. I could have structured my response as I have here. I didn't on purpose. In general, the use of superlatives is unwise. But I was confident that no one here could refute the claim, and perhaps see their error.Wasn't my point of contention with you. No one goes to heaven.I never said otherwise. I said limited atonement doesn't equate to few in heaven.
Glad to discuss limited atonement with you sometime.
Have no idea what this means or how it connects to what I posted. No one goes to heaven.
Where do you get "toward?"The NASB draws out the neuter gender better IMO. "All that" may as well but not as succinctly.
Here's how I see this language by following the neuter vs. masculine gender adjectives and pronouns. Note the division of John6:37a & b:
John6:37-40
6:37a Everything the Father gives to Jesus will come toward Jesus
6:37b Also, the man who comes toward Jesus, Jesus will absolutely not cast [him] outside
- 6:38 Jesus has come down from Heaven sent by God to do God’s will
- 6:39 This thing is God’s will:
- EverythingGod has given to Jesus,
- Jesus does not lose from it
- Rather, Jesus will raise it in the last day
So:
- 6:38 Jesus has come down from Heaven sent by God to do God’s will
- 6:40 This thing is God’s will:
- Every man who beholds the/His Son and believes into Him may have eternal life
- And I will raise him in the last day
Please, anyone jump in since @sawdust is apparently occupied elsewhere. It would be nice if discussion could just be FROM the Text above and not from doctrinal beliefs.
- Why the distinction between things and men?
- Why the difference between not losing things and not casting out men?
Yes, it can see why you say this, but I'd prefer to have some context explained to me beginning at least at John6:37-40.
AND He has been given ALL things........The animals, the trees, the blades of grass, EVERYTHING.
We, humans tend to think everything revolves around us.
