If you're anything like me then you have tried to looking for God to fix your problem for you which in a certain context could be bad. Here's something that's hard to explain because it's so specific. Christians today often have the idea that if you pray for something to happen, and it seems like a good thing or God's will then it will happen when and how it was prayed for and that somehow that is what the Holy Bible teaches. Psalm 40 tells us that God answers prayers in His own way in His own time. When I approach God with a request, I do not know how He will answer that request, only that by offering the intention to Him, I can be assured that a Father, if a son ask for bread, will not give him a stone. He may tell me that I have to wait for my bread, or that He has something better for me, but He will not ignore my prayer if it is offered in sincerity. Also, 1 Corinthians 10:13 says "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." This is a call to our responsibility. There is a sharing of love in every relationship. God and you both are responsible for loving each other for a relationship to be good. Now here's something that should make you feel a whole lot better. As a man of faith I give you my opinion from spending 4 years in Bible College, I believe God calls us to the highest amount of responsibility for our faith that we can take! Don't understand yet? This is a good thing because then we have the most opportunity to resist evil and thereby improve ourselves as honorable people and earn maximum rewards and glory through testing and trials.
It's often said that new Christians have more intense encounters with God. Why do you suppose that is? It's because at first people need something to have faith, but later on they don't need as much because they remember what gave them faith before. God rewards those who are faithful to Him. In other words, people who believe that He exists and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). "My righteous ones will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him." Same principle. The less evidence someone needs to trust God, the greater the rewards. John 20:29 Then Jesus told Thomas, 'Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed" In that way we have more blessing than Thomas.
If you're seeking God, you're doing the right thing. Keep asking, keep knocking, keep seeking.
