Let me say first that the cross of Christ is both the love of God and the justice of God. Sin must be judged and all sin was judged upon Christ, but that work of judging and putting away sin was motivated by the love of God. Jesus said that He came not to judge or condemn, but to seek and save the lost. My opinion on this matter is something that we need to pray and fast about because of the evil that is in this world. Yes, Jesus has overcome this world but evil is still a present force and can be given place to by any believer who has trusted Christ. The temptation of evil for the believer is not to practice sin but to be deceived by evil and take on a spirit that does not come from God. We have been given a spirit of love and a sound mind so that we can judge according to the knowledge of Christ with a spirit of love.
Our job is to point those who are lost to the cross where the Savior's blood was shed for the remission of all sin. This was done out of love for all men who have been caught up in the bondage of sin. Man is unable to redeem himself and to cleanse himself from his own sin. The cross is the place that God judged the sin that man must be cleansed from. This is the message that we are to preach in the spirit of love that we have been given. Sin has been judged and put away through the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Our message is this and it is the power of God unto salvation. The words we express should be clear and filled with love and conviction so that God can convert the heart in man that hears them. As James has said so beautifully in (James 5:20) 'Let him know that he that converts the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins'.
