Love the ken, even if it hurts at first!
• “Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge; but he who hates correction is like a brute animal.” (Pro 12:1).
It there is some kind of people that, hardly ever, will like instruction and correction:
1 – The stupid. They only relish in sensual and earthly delights. And, as it is said in the Holy Scripture:
• “He who loves pleasure shall be a poor man; he who loves wine and oil shall not be rich.” (Pro 21:17).
• “Fornication and wine and new wine take away the heart. My people seek advice from their wooden idols, and their rod declares to them. For the spirit of harlotry has caused them to go astray, and they have gone lusting away from under their God.” (Hos 4:11,12).
2 – The froward man. In virtue of he is under the serfdom of his lusts and passions, he only accepts what is convenient to satisfy his avarice and covet.
3 – The proud man. He looks on himself wiser than everyone. Hence the Creator resist to them:
• “But He gives more grace. Therefore He says, God resists the proud, but He gives grace to the humble.” (Jas 4:6)
• “Likewise, younger ones, be subject to older ones, and all being subject to one another. Put on humility. For God resists proud ones, but He gives grace to the humble.” (1Pe 5:5)
4 – The negligent and slothful man. As the lazy one puts his hand in a dish and he doesn’t have disposition even to return it to his mouth (Prov 19:24), how can he find any disposition to grow in knowledge?
• “The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who can give a reason.” (Pro 26:16).
5 – Men of a vain and frothy spirit, who crave for turning serious things into something ludicrous. How can they grow in the knowledge of the Creator, if they consider His things common, dirty or tiredness (Mal 1:13; Acts 10:15).
So, have a good week being savant, willingly to do what is delightful to the eyes of the Creator, humble and meek, finicky and full of alacrity to follow Jesus’ words and always taking life seriously and with joy.
