Hey so this thread is like exploding but first

Jason: I understand you're legalistic and it's OK to he but sometimes those who are hurting don't need to hear things in a legalistic manner. Also what has worked for your friends doesn't work for everyone else. I see your intentions but we need to always think before we speak in instances such as this. Alongside that
jfsurvivor is 110% right when she talks about love. We need to show it and Jason you being blunt isn't coming off as very loving. Even if you think things should go a certain way that doesn't mean they you need to enforce it. Share your opinions but don't force them. Love is soft not forceful

Ok I can see your point but why would it be Gods will for us to suffer? I understand certain suffering can be good but becoming suicidal is NOT from God nor are the things leading up to it.

IMO, God created mankind because He wanted a creature able to receive and return His love.

The price God paid for a creature able to love Him was He got a creature able to reject His love.

Love must, by its nature, be volitional.

God was faced with a choice between preventing both sin and love or preventing neither sin nor love; because love cannot exist without the possibility of its rejection; which is the essence is what sin is .

To make love possible; God chose to temporarily permit sin to exist; since the alternative is a world without love.

I don't believes that God wills that you suffer. I believe that God endures your suffering along with His own because it is important to Him that people be able to love.

I believe that God desires to help you through this suffering in order to give you something much much better.

Even all-powerful God cannot prevent our suffering without also preventing love. I believe that love is so important to God that He temporarily tollorates all the World's ugliness in order to let love exist.

I don't believes that God wills that you suffer.

I read your posts to learn.I have read a lot of your stuff and think you are way more advanced in this spiritual life than me. So I ask this to see what you think.

What is your take on this verse?

1 Peter 4:19 (NASB95)
19 Therefore, those also who suffer according to the will of God shall entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.

Heya all. It is important to love yourself, since hatred is a sin. :) This is where self cutting, and destructive ways come because of guilt, and self esteem needs to be where we were called to be, his son's and*daughters. It is the Lord's calling, to be able to love through the things that make us want to hate others and ourselves. yes indeed.

The suffering mentioned in 1 Peter pertains to those who suffer in defense of the Gospel, not those who suffer from life's hardships.

because you are not acknowledging their hurt. You're dismissing the fact that their feelings are real and scary for them. You're not realizing that this seemingly simple problem is very big and scary for the person going through that. You're not validating them. You're making them feel worse by telling them they're not a good Christian and they need to do better when the reality is they are doing the best they can within their circumstances.

You didn't tell me anyone's feelings were involved till after the fact. When you gave me a scenario where someone's feelings are at stake like a person who was about to jump off a cliff, I acknowledged their heart. I am not an insensitive guy. Most people consider me to be very kind and loving. I know my fiance does. You are trying to pin something on me because you do not like the message I am preaching from God's Word. That is what this is really about. When someone tells me they want to build up their self esteeem, my source of authority is the Bible as a response. If the Bible offends them, I cannot help that. There was no intent to hate them or to drag them down. The Bible convicts people to repent of their sins and to get a person to surrender their life to God versus their own path or their own happiness (That is separate from the joy that can be found with the Spirit).

You didn't tell me anyone's feelings were involved till after the fact....................
You're talking to people. Someone has to tell you they have feelings? So if feelings weren't involved you have a different take? You're an idiot and I am sorry I clicked on a thread you posted on.

See, jason, I don't have to read the whole series of posts. You are stupid and your posts bear that out. Good grief son, get a grip.

Feelings are always involved WHENEVER YOU HAVE ANY SORT OF HUMAN INTERACTION (even here on CC).

But like I said some people view God as the bad guy and when you quote him it comes off looking like a cruel joke and that's not their fault. It's yours because you are not being sensitive to their situation. It doesn't matter what you say it matters how the other person takes it.

I would have stated that nicer but my thoughts exactly...well almost lol

That is all well and good but you need to do that in addition to validating them and acknowledging their hurt and fear as real. You need to see it from their perspective even if YOU think it's flawed. Don't worry their sin won't rub off on you. You need to comfort them and not bash them over the head with scripture because chances are they aren't ready to hear it. Correcting them is fine but they have to be open and receptive to it or the correction will do no good.

Do you want to be effective or do you want to be right? Do you want to get people to change or hear yourself talk? If you sincerely want people to change you have to wait until they are ready to do so, not when you are ready for them to do so.

Not true. Jesus corrected the Pharisees even when He knew they would not listen to Him. The Word of God needs to be preached to people even if it is offensive to people. Some will receive the Word and others will not receive the Word. There is no lack of love when a true believer preaches the Word. Even when you see a preacher shout in the pulpits. He is not really hating people. He is hating the sin and wants to convict people of their sin so as to draw them close to God. Also, I do not believe I was being unloving with her, either. Quoting Scripture is not unloving. What would be unloving is what everyone here is doing to me. Falsely accuse me of something that is not true. You are saying I do not love her. Which is not true. You say that my approach is not loving. Which again, is not true. However, according to your worldview that might be true, but I just don't see it. You are going to have to show me where specifically I called her a name, or where I said something smart to her, or where I had showed some kind of hate towards her. I am not a mind reader and I cannot see a person's feelings or hurt unless they tell me about it. If they say something wrong or tell me something is contrary to God's Word.... then I will show them that is not the case with Scripture.

Dear sir. I very rarely will say this to someone. But not once where you ever nice to me. Not once. Every time you speak to me on this forum you have nothing nice to say. I just get personal attacks from you.

You don't want to discuss Scriptures but you want to just tear me apart. I think your words to me is an example of somebody being unloving or un-Christ-like.

Now, If you quoted Scripture to make your point as to something I might have done wrong or some belief that you did not agree with, then that is another matter. But this is not the case with you, dear sir.

I will be praying for you.

How can I know their situation if they do not tell me about it? I am not a mind reader. If a person says something false .... then it is not wrong for me to point out their wrong falseness with the Word of God. Read 2 Timothy 3:16-17. The Word of God is for correction. You also cannot prove that I said anything offfensive to them, either. I was just telling them what God's Word says. We are on a Bible discussion forum. If they do not want to hear the Bible, then they should not come to such a place. I don't say that to be mean, but I say that with love. I love God's Word. Do you? Does she? I sure hope that she does. It is my prayer that she loves it more and more.

I reported this post. If that makes me an idiot then I wear it as a badge of honor.

You truly are incorrigible. Leave her alone. How old are you?

Yeah that's totally uncalled for. I know a lot (including me) disagree with Jason, but stuff like name calling and sarcasm when trying to have a discussion is just immature.

*sigh* part of being a Christian is seeing other peoples hurts. It all goes with loving people.

Yeah sorry about that. Those weren't EXACTLY my thoughts. I just feel like you need to learn that feelings ARE important and they need to be taken in to consideration because if you don't you could really really hurt someone and that's not going to bring anyone to Jesus.
