I am surprised by some reactions to my post regarding the possibility of Christians being bound by demons and evil spirits. Hopefully, I can shed a little more light. I wish it was not necessary. People vastly more qualified and experienced have preached these truths for decades. Obviously that preaching has not reached this generation. Two preachers in particular were a great help to me, Watchman Nee, possibly the greatest apostle since Paul, and Derek Prince, who ministered for decades in the free world.
Luke 4:
…17the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. Unrolling it, He found the place where it was written: 18“The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed, 19to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”…
Lord Jesus did not preach the gospel of personal salvation. That is a construct of modern Christianity. Indeed, salvation is a personal matter, but it is only the beginning, not an end in itself. We must be born again even to see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3) He commanded His followers to preach the gospel of the Kingdom (Matthew 24:14).
The kingdom of God has a number of aspects. I won't cover them all. What did Jesus say? When He cast out demons by the finger of God, then the Kingdom of God has come upon them. (Matthew 12:28). Demons are so pathetically weak that God can flick them away with a finger.
Lord Jesus commanded us to go in His name, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to glorify our heavenly Father. Luke 4:18 summarises the gospel of the kingdom.
Mark 16:17
And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
It's ironic that Pentecostal Christians are often those who reject the idea that a demon can inhabit a Christian. Many are quick to say that tongues are important or even vital. Yet they deny the need to cast out demons.
Any who looks at the Rodney Howard-Browne and Kenneth Copeland video sees Christians being controlled by demons. It is not fake. It is utterly demonic. And they don't even know.
It's been said that Satan's greatest trick was to convince the world that he does not exist. Christians know that he does. Satan's second, or maybe equally clever trick, is to convince Christians that they cannot have a demon within them.
