“A tree from good stock doesn’t produce scrub fruit nor do trees from poor stock produce choice fruit. A tree is identified by the kind of fruit it produces. Figs never grow on thorns, or grapes on bramble bushes. A good man produces good deeds from a good heart. And an evil man produces evil deeds from his hidden wickedness. Whatever is in the heart overflows into speech. But those who listen and don’t obey are like a man who builds a house without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it crumbles into a heap of ruins.”
We all come from “good stock.” We are all from God. If we follow God’s path, we will continue to produce “good fruit.” If we allow our ego to take control, our fruit begins to “go bad.” Open to God and your heart will be filled with love, kindness, and authenticity. Allow God in everyday. You can do this when you are driving, washing dishes, cleaning the house, walking to work. He wants to be a part of everything we do. He wants to guide us.
God gives us gentle nudges, sometimes dramatic, all the time. He wants us to have a strong foundation and follow his path. By shutting Him out, our hearts become hardened and can easily “crumble into a heap of ruins.”
