Hey, I have a serious question, with mad overtones, and bit of a comedy cousin to it.
I am in high school (which I hate, cause there are seriously some classes where I could do a better job of teaching then the teacher, but whatevs on that bit). I was in a relationship with the crush I have had since halfway through seventh grade, and I am in tenth. But we didn't know how to act towards each other now that we were in a relationship. I am a bit mad (crazy, insane, not-norma take your pick of which you prefer) meaning like I will do voices, jump all around, making dramatic gestures, that sort of thing, and she is mad in her own type of way.
My question is this: If you were to see my madness, (like I am pretty much the kind of person who will see the line of normalcy drawn in the sand, and do a Broadway dance number over it), would you want to try and get to know me better, or should I try and be normal? I have gone through life being this way, and because most people who are my friends are those who I have had to sit next to in class, I can't really start a conversation because of this. Should I give up my madness and try being super sociable, or continue being myself and hope that I don't end up with a bunch of different hallucinations and voices in my head at age 45?

You sound much like myself, HerrDsfkhsadfjkshfak.

Never been in a relationship, myself. But from what I've seen in other people, there's a flaw with changing yourself to suit the purposes of your love interest.

For one, unless you're genuinely making a decision to change for permanent, you won't be able to keep up the act forever. It's fairly likely that it'll spring up again sometime in the future, and perhaps become more of a problem then than it is now. Imagine if you ended up getting married, and she ended up finding out that you weren't quite the person she thought you were. Would be dodgy business, if you ask me.

For two, a big part of love is acceptance. If she can't accept you for who you are, then what's the point of being in a relationship?

Thirdly, I see a reaccuring theme among the interwebz about women daydreaming about their "Dream guys" and giving out advice to males who're into the dating scene. Most of them treasure honesty quite a bit. Or so they say. Perhaps this is just so that they can judge if you're husband material or not sooner... But it still sounds like it would be a good idea.

Please take the above with a helping of salt, because I'm not speaking from experience. Cheers.

Be yourself, herrgeschicte and, pray to God for how to be it. Especially the youth, like your teen self, are finding their identity, trying to look the part as they understand who they are matters and being self-conscious in finding that look. Nothing wrong with that, been there , done that. Still do, too :)

Find your identity in Christ, your conscious, have 'it' focus on Him too :)

you know this worship song ? 'So I am crucified in Christ....I live."

Philips, Craig & Dean-Crucified with Christ - YouTube

And here is another I suggezt wrapping yourself up in geschictemister, LOL :D Yeah, i know, i know, you can tell I know a little Germán . But that is 'history' we can talk of later ;). Geschicte means 'history' doesn't it? Anyway, 'nough dat, now listen to this Christ bros. (Yeah, you too,Sethers :) )

Song #2 :

And, listen to this one to of you want, I like its meaning for being identified in Christ's work on Earth :) and His death :( which was done so we could live forever, but live forever with the goodness that is from Him and the greatness that is Him.

In Christ Alone (Newsboys) - YouTube

And a third song of Christ ....

I'll be the devils advocate kind of here.

That behavior would drive me crazy. I am a rather quiet person. I like to talk, but I like it to be relaxes, not chaotic. I would probably not go out of my way to hang out with loud and what I view as "obnoxious" people. I wouldn't dislike them, just wouldn't go out of my way to be around it.

That being said.

Screw what I think, or what anybody that agrees with thinks. You can't please everyone, it is not possible. You might as well just be yourself and allow the people that enjoy your company fill your circle. Same thing goes for relationships.

I like your sig btw.

God made us unique on purpose. Seek Him and become who He intends for you to be. Listen to His voice and change only as He tells you. I once attempted to change the way I spoke, to soften my voice, and God told me, "What? Are you just going to change everything about you?" (Or something similar...it's been a few years). The point is, there are things in our character and personality that require change because they were shaped by the culture in which we were raised, but there are more areas that were intentionally placed there by God...and He delights in them!

HerrG is from Germany.

Herr = Mr.

Geschicte , I think, equals 'history.'

So while he is herrgeschicte to you , he's 'mrhistory' to me :D

From just casual observation - we don't know each other at all, really - relax. Some teachers put it this way - breathe. One can be too serious in all sorts of ways.

By this I don't mean making any external changes to your behavior, like taking up listening to smooth jazz or burning incense, but I'm suggesting that you ruminate a little less. You're a flurry of opinions and judgments - try to connect with your physical senses more often and deal with the content of the present moment.

You may not end up with hallucinations, but the style of thinking and expression you're developing will eventually take a toll on your ability to concentrate and your relationships.

Hehe grin <looks around> I am not paranoid, (Ok maybe I am just a little.) That is awesome. Praise the Lord. I guess I was a little grumpy this morning. I am sorry if I sounded like a jerk. I guess I still have my moments.

Awe so it's german. Looked like another language. But I wasn't for sure.

Ruminate with God, but, yes, doing the above things is good to get a better handle on things , but just do it all with God , He gives us strength and the ability to be right with a girl :)

Just think of it this way, if you be your natural intense self, people will either love ya or hate ya right away. And you WILL find people who love you for you. No need to waste time finding out over a long period of time like most of us "quieter" personalities. :D And who knows, if you are confident in who you are, you may find you attract like-personalities too.

I hide my "madness" too much and disguise it as shyness. That is my main fault. I can tell you it is not the way to go.

Aww, relselena, it is not your fault, it is your 'normal,' how God's wired you. Anyway, the Lord leads, just let Him lead you from your madness, and, by putting our TRUST in Him, 'that' will happen :)

And, then, liketh Shakespere, wherefore cometh your faults whence will none longer be a reason and be ye with a method to thy madness :D

Oh sorry no, I meant that the fact that I HIDE my weirdness is my main fault. Nobody should train themselves to automatically hide who they really are. I am the living proof that doing that can just lead to internal crazy. :p I wish I were braver in who I really am.

You seem pretty darn interesting to me.
Be yourself! Your 'madness' actually sounds pretty cool!
People like you make the world an interesting place.
What is normal, anyways? Isn't normal what society defines? Blech. Society.

Oh, Rel, well, alrighty then, my green eyes observe and then my green mind writes and then my green fingers type, so to speak :D Yeah, I hear what you are saying, your 'madness' is really weirdness. Wait, I don't get it? That just sounds like it would be strangely upsetting, dare I say maddening, or, maybe, for you, it's just another day in the life of Rel and that is quite normal indeed :D

_____
Yeah, Kyguy, I would say same thing , being normal is not how God made us. Definitely not ! He wants us to serve Him and that 'normal' will be pretty abnormal in the world's view because serving Him requires us to speak out and be bold in our faith and to all but those who believe like WE do, it will seem very weird. They will think we are MAD even sometimes ! But, with Christ, in control, everything that seems strangely, weirdly maddening will be just fine. (sorry, rel, tying your personality into this, and, don't worry, it's all good, not to mention, normal :D )

What is normal, anyways? Isn't normal what society defines? Blech. Society.

Bingo! Normal is a nebulous concept. Everyone has their own definition of "normal"... people will see something they don't like or don't understand and just arbitrarily slap a label on it that says, "That's not normal." Ignore them. ;)
