Jesus once stated that the traditions of men concerning Biblical truths actually have the ability to render God’s word ineffective. You heard me right. Men’s traditional approaches to scripture and theology actually have the capability to, in effect, neuter God’s word and rob it of its efficacy.

How so? Well, we come up with an idea as to what a particular text of scripture is saying, and eventually, after years of propagating said idea, it becomes law. It becomes settled like concrete in the collective psyche of Christendom that this or that is what a certain passage is saying. The problem is that a lot of the times we are dead wrong in our interpretations.

Why? Because we interpret scripture with an agenda. We read into it what we want to see, and as a result, we come up with all sorts of wacky notions and bizarre doctrines. The biggest issue though, is that we’ve rendered the word of God ineffective.

How? You see, once we’ve settled upon what a passage means, but have actually misinterpreted the passage, we are unable to see what is actually being said because we are stuck in our traditional understanding. Suddenly, the true message of the passage is completely lost and almost unrecognizable because of the way we have twisted and misinterpreted it. And with that, “KAPOW”, God’s word is rendered ineffective in our lives.

God's Word is only rendered ineffective when people aren't open to the workings of the Holy Spirit, when interpretation of scripture has become a rational, academic affair that's only interesting to theologians and scribes. When enligtened by the Spirit there's no such thing as a 'wrong interpretation,' because then God himself speaks the words in us, through the Son, in the community of the Holy Spirit. True interpretation of scripture ultimately is wanting 'tot keep in touch' with God and His will, it's communication.

Want to do something interesting? Do this only for yourself, because, frankly, not too many of us really care as much as YOU should.

Sit down, and write out all the things that you "Spiritually" believe..... THEN go through the list and be honest about how many of them are because of Men's Traditions. If you are truly honest, it will shock you how much you never really got from just The Holy Spirit.

This would prove to be a most interesting exercise. But, if your original assertion is correct, and that man has a propensity for misinterpreting scriptures, reading things into them that aren't there, how could something like this be possible? How would you know what is truly based on the traditions of Man, and which are truly Divine? And even if you throw out all of your preconceived notions about the Bible and start afresh, how can you ever gain the assurance that you are now reading the Scriptures as they were intended, without Man's traditions interfering?

Speak for yourself. At least I CARE enough to mention the working of the HS. You failed to do so, though the HS is essential for our faith. Without enligthenment of the HS we're left with just a bunch of opinions, opinions that truly are 'traditions of men.'

Many years of reading the bible, and I have always prayerfully listened for deeper insights in each sentence. I totally trust the Holy Spirit, Who has not failed me yet.

I found that as the years went by, the insights gleaned from just one sentence would change as I also surrendered more of myself to the Lord and grew in age and faith. The Holy Spirit teaches each person so personally, and yet never deviates from truth. He only gives you different perspectives as you, yourself, are being more and more conformed into the image of Christ, and gain spiritual victories.

Walking through the bible truly is a pilgrimage - and each Word is like a diamond with many different facets that we discover as we mature in Christ. And the Holy Spirit always keeps your eyes on Jesus throughout the entire book!
