The world thinks of only two options. The "soul of Man." And the "flesh," or our physical presence.
The Word of God does not divide man into two parts; the soul and the body.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 says, "Sanctify you wholly, and may your Spirit and Soul and Body be preserved complete." This verse clearly shows a distinction between the Spirit and the Soul. Otherwise, it would not have said , "Your Spirit and Soul," but rather, "Your spirit-soul."
Since God has said this, we can see that there is a distinction between man's Spirit and his Soul. From this we can conclude that man is divided into three parts- the Spirit, the Soul, and the Body.
With this as a premise it helps us understand our life better. You see there are only two spirits. The spirit of Adam, or the carnal spirit of death. and the spirit of God thru the work of Jesus Christ; The spirit of everlasting life. and the soul represents our "Will" attached to one of those only two options in life.
I have found many people try to create a third spirit. The world would have you believe in a third spirit. The spirit of "Self"; Humanism. This thought is Authored by Satan. He wants us to think we are in charge and if we can muster a 51% or better of God's spirit in this third spirit we can walk into Heaven, still affording our insatiable appetites for the things of our flesh.Yet still again Satan adds a forth perverted option to the table: The spirit of the LAW. This is a performance sided argument as well. But Satan is smart, If he adds restrictions to the spirit it will look like good so we have sacrifices being a key component to this rendering of a forth Spirit.
But God says that spirits do not exist, in their own identity. It is more half-truth-lies of Satan.There are only two Spirits.
When we see 1 John 5:11-12, we say what does being IN Christ mean? Simply acknowledging His existence? No! Even Satan acknowledges His existence. No, it means to take our "Will" and attach it to the Spirit of God in Faith, Confession, and Obedience. When we do that our soul then is the Lamb-spirit of God. And as a by-product of that attachment Jesus' victories become ours, His nature becomes the new me personality. Not a clone of Jesus in personality, for God delights in making us our own person.. but the demeanor and single-mindedness of Christ. We were already born into a predestined soul. That is the Lion-spirit, as I have labeled it here. Which is our will owned by Satan's spirit. Making our soul to be imprisoned by the Carnal heart.
We must understand each and everyone of us is a SLAVE. To one of the two spirits. whether we believe it or not. This is an Axiom truth or Axiomatic truth, or a self-evident truth.
this point is necessary to grasp so that we understand the need to stay IN Christ for our victory over sin. And to understand that, in Christ we have complete victory, more than conquerer victory.
We need to move from the debate of whether we are free from sin to......... in our freedom from sin, Let me mature in my victory in Christ. For from that thirst and overcoming victory we can be used in His service to the unsaved. Ambassador's for Christ.
We start being better listeners, we gain a loving heart for ALL men, we begin to have a heart of for suffering, We buffet our bodies and make it our slaves, we stay Diligent, we start restraining our speaking, we gain stability, we lose subjectivity or feelings as a way of life, we get our money in order....etc.
When we surrender all, christ becomes all in us. For we know there is no reality without Him. He says He is all and in all. All- inclusive. Nothing in this universe is here without his being in it.
I write this with a heart for those struggling with VICTORY!
