It's a sin to covet, lie, steal, murder, commit adultery....having many wives could lead to all of the previously stated sins... So yes, having many wives is a sin....lol

You know, as brothers and sisters in Christ, we are to teach one another the truth of Christ and correct one another by him as well. Although you don't even hesitate to proclaim others are "significantly limited in understanding," you certainly are lacking in receiving correction yourself. In fact, in your last post, your resentful reply shows that you refuse to judge yourself. Anyone who cannot judge themselves and is not able to receive teaching has no business judging others or trying to teach.

The Lord teaches that we no longer walk according to our fleshly desires but walk according to the spirit of life in him. We are to trust him to lead us, not try to incorporate his teachings with our carnal desires.

Sin is being motivated by our own desires, or walking according to the lust of the flesh (carnal thinking, worldly intellect). It is in opposition to being led by the spirit of life in Jesus Christ.
You stated that you are not interested in marrying more wives. Yet you posted that your wife was ok with it if you did. So evidently, you must have asked her about it. If you are not interested in additional wives, why did you ask your wife about it? And why do you continue to post in favor of it? Anyone who says they are not for something would not keep promoting it.
I don’t hear the law of liberty in Christ Jesus in your posts, I don’t read anything glorifying God in your posts, praising him for deliverance from the world. I don’t see in your posts "picking up your cross and following Christ." I hear you defending flesh.

There Is difference between defending the flesh and looking for truth.
And not like you, I do not ask other intentions or their history when they pop up or reasons for posting. I ANSWER based on biblical proof.

if nothing else, for us in America it would be sin because the law in the land says one can only be married to one husband or wife -- and the apostles of Christ clearly teach that as much as it does not contradict the law of Christ, we should obey the law and honor all human authorities.

You're talking a different language. Your context seems to imply you want Biblical truth, but when it's presented to you in the light of the reality of life in Jesus Christ, that isn't proof enough. You want law spelled out for you in man's intellectual understanding.
The flesh is not able to receive the truth of God. Law spelled out won't help. The Scribes and Pharisees knew the law backwards and forward and yet had no spiritual insight at all. Jesus said their hearts were completely darkened.
Jesus himself is the law fulfilled. If we aren't submitted to him, obeying laws outwardly is to no avail. You can't make yourself acceptable to God by following laws. For if you fail in one tiny area, you're guilty of all.
It's the spirit of Christ who reveals these things to us and conforms us more & more into his image. He alone makes us holy. Not following laws.
It is with the heart that man believes God, not with intellectual understanding.

Something is strange. Watcher2013 shows up out of nowhere in almost a year's time to post a controversial question... of which he evidently is already convinced he knows the answer. So it doesn't take a scholar to figure out the op is just to stir up a debate, something we are told in the Word not to do:
Titus 3:9
But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
He also has posted nothing but controversial posts in past times, asking questions to coax members to respond in order that he may contradict them with his own interpretation.
In this instance, we read in I Timothy 3 that in order to hold a leadership or teaching position in the church, a man must be "blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach..."
It's pretty clear, if you want to teach, you should have one spouse. I'm sure the Holy Spirit knows best how we should conduct our lives as witnesses unto the world.
Also, it seems Watcher2013 is looking for loopholes to justify having more than one wife. I see in his profile he is married. Perhaps he should ask his wife what she thinks about it.

Clarification:
1. Saul was David's master. David took none of Saul's wives. (His first wife was Saul's daughter, but none were Saul's wives.)
2. Nathan was rebuking him for taking Bathsheba. Actually Nathan was doing the same thing to David that we're doing to you in that verse -- telling you that despising the commandments of the Lord isn't going to work out well. Doing evil in God's sight isn't hunky dory.
So, are you saying you're peachy keen on taking a few wives based on this? Why not just go for it, since you really couldn't care what God thinks anyway?
(And, I'm pretty amused by this, because I'm certain you won't be getting more than one wife, if that many.)

Again you talk a different language. You seem to believe God is a man handing wives over to David like gifts. But God is Spirit and Truth, he's NOT a man. If we are to assume God literally handed wives over to David, we have to assume he handed 5 husbands over to the Samaritan woman at the well and topped it off with a live-in lover to boot. That's ludicrous!
Perhaps you'd better understand that God permitted David to take several wives. God permits us to make our own choices in order to teach us that He is right and our flesh is always wrong. David married for selfish political reasons as well as for lust and conquest. There were all kinds of discord within his family because of all the evil things he did. His own son resented him and slept with one of David's wives, turning against his father, and was ultimately murdered for being a traitor. David had a hard life filled with trouble and heartbreak, even causing his kingdom to suffer.
David was the apple of God's eye because he didn't hide his sin from God. When his sins would almost overcome him, he would run to God and repent. He admitted his guilt. He said, "If I hid anything in my heart from God, he would not hear me." David knew God saw the motives in his heart.
The Bible is written to direct us to God through Jesus Christ. It's not a how-to book whereas we follow the stupid mistakes of others. We are to learn from their mistakes.
Again, God is Spirit and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth. Not in intellectual understanding.

I've never heard of a polygamist who didn't take care of all of his wives and his kids well. In OT days, each wife got her own tent and servants, and was given enough provisions to raise her children well. The man still provides, he just has a lot more to provide for.True lol!Guys don't have to do anything except give the seed, women have to lug it around for months and months....plus deliver it.....props/respect to women!
I think the term for one wife having many husbands is polyandry.....rare but probably is happening somewhere on this planet.... lol...

Actually there are more females, because the polygamist men are married to multiple polygamist women.
Seriously though, women with multiple husbands is really nothing new. There are countries where that has always been acceptable in their society. As the Bible says, "There is nothing new under the sun."
And the ungodly will continue to promote and justify whatever their flesh desires.
