The manifold signs that the Holy Spirit works in us, with us to both will and do His good pleasure are signs that keeps on showing (and not show and tell .) But as the continual revealing of faith.

A company or multitude of signs working as one confirming someone has heard the gospel, as the Holy Spirit did give them ears to make it possible to believe. Our gift of faith.

In regard to Mark below..

1) In the name of Jesus the "gospel" will cast out demons.

2) As new creatures they are sent out into the world with a new desire to serve the gospel (new tongue)

3) False doctrine called poison, will not harm those who do have the gospel, the new tongue. They like the Bereans search the scriptures daily to see if it so.

4) They shall lay the will of God as hands in a hope God will apply the gospel to the hearts of those, so that they in return might be part of bring in the gospel into the world with their new tongue, the gospel

Afterwards, as they are reclining (at meat), he was manifested to the eleven, and did reproach their unbelief and stiffness of heart, because they believed not those having seen him being raised; and he said to them, `Having gone to all the world, proclaim the good news to all the creation;
he who hath believed, and hath been baptized, shall be saved; and he who hath not believed, shall be condemned. `And signs shall "accompany" those believing these things; in my name demons they shall cast out; with new tongues they shall speak; serpents they shall take up; and if any deadly thing they may drink, it shall not hurt them; on the ailing they shall lay hands, and they shall be well.'14 -18

Not one of those metaphors or metaphorical phrases used to describe is said to be separate from the others and it does not say when we see the sign. (we walk by faith) The sign continually confirms the work has already been applied.

The same kind of idea in Luke an answer to John's doubt. Jesus uses other metaphors in the parable helping John confirm he has heard the gospel strengthening the faith of John as the work of the gospel.

To the poor the gospel is preached is the summary as well as the application in Mark. Same good gospel stuff . The gospel A sign to the world someone has beleived God.

Luke 7:22Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached
