Some people here say that real intimacy with a girl equals marriage, and if you've been intimate with one another once you're considered married. That's an interesting thought, but if that's true I've been "married" for over 3 years. My first time was long before I got saved, and the girl in question is a steady relationship with another guy now. She's not a christian. So what would be the right thing to do? Try to convert my ex and make her my wife? Or just be celibate until the right girl comes along and marry her? Personally I think the second option is more realistic.

You're thoughts please, preferably WITH arguments backed by scripture.

Sex without marriage is a sin...one of many sins that are easily committed by fallen people. Once we are convicted of our sin and repent of it and accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, then it's a whole new ball game :). Thank God.

I think we can and should make restitution for our past sins where possible..as long as it doesn't hurt other people. Otherwise that too would become a selfish act.

I'm sorry I can't think of where this is specifically mentioned in the Bible but it is the over all tone of biblical teaching of how regenerated people are to proceed.

It would probably be a mistake to marry someone when you don't sincerely love them. Teens don't always recognize the difference between 'lust' and 'love'. So I think your second option would be the wiser one :).

just be celibate until the right girl comes along and marry her...

Its very clear,is that too hard to understand since you have real insight in Holy Scripture..
casual dating is not healthy(spiritually) for Christians...

It definitely does not equal marriage because if it did then fornication wouldn't exist.
Fornication - sexual intercourse between people not married to each other
You sinned in the past, but if you got married to someone else down the road you would not be committing adultery, if that is what you are asking. (As far as I understand) So celibacy is the way to go.

I think that illegitimate sex would only lead to an illegitimate marriage that will probably fall apart later down the road, so just thank, god for forgiving your sins, and move on with life, maybe in a few years a nice God fearin gal will come a walkin, that's a lookin to get hitched, lol.

Sex before marriage is becoming one with the person in body. But it isn't marriage. In the Old Testament, if a virgin fornicated, the man was obligated to marry her. But if the girl's father would not accept it, they could not be married. So fornication is not the same thing as marriage.

If your first girlfriend has slept around since, especially, I wouldn't think you'd have that kind of obligation to her.

You should remain celibate until you find the person to marry.
