What do you think?

Is it right biblically for a man, especially a married man, to - for example - run a step aerobic class that is attended by just women?
Or vice versa of course, though I personally don't know of any examples of a woman running a male dominated / men only type of class.

I cant find a scripture to back this up but it really feels wrong to me.

If I were the man it sounds like It’s a bit risky to me. I’ve been a male boss and co worker around all women and it just wasn’t my thing. I had some worldly morals guiding me but I think I floated dangerously close to a mistake one time prior to being Born again. but this Depends on the man and his walk with God. Can he resist the temptations these interactions may bring fourth? Is he a mature Christian who operates in the spirit or is he carnal or worldly in his faith? Satan loves to jump on this stuff because he is a great tempter and accuser and if a man doesn’t see the attack coming he can get taken out easily by it. I think it’s something you won’t find direct scripture for an answer . Something to ask God for wisdom and discernment and walk in step with the spirit. Closest thing I can think of is the OT story of David and Bathsheba. David was anointed by God but it was OT times prior to the work of Christ . Bible is always the bedrock of the faith but we have to begin to trust God within us Holy Spirit on the more complicated things without clear answer. Perhaps someone more experienced than myself will chime in but for now thinking you might read the story of David and Bathsheba

Thank you. I know that incident, re David's adulterous act, quite well and it is a very good example.
That is fairly much as I feel about it. It seems unwise... let him who think he stands take heed least he fall etc.

and that’s not to say a good result isn’t possible either . thinking of how Honorable and gracious Boaz was to Ruth and Ruth to Boaz prior to them even thinking of becoming a couple. Lots of variables to take into account the largest one is perhaps maturity in Christ I’d think though.

Hmm....

I wouldn't mind. I don't think the male instructor is going to oogle at an attractive woman in yoga pants and a sports bra if he sees such women on a regular basis teaching classes. At some point, all these women are going to blur a bit and all look alike, wearing the same revealing clothes. I've been to such types of classes and things are professional. There is always the risk that a woman may target the instructor, but that could happen anywhere including a male dominated place, like the secretary at the law firm.

Along the same thought...

Is it okay for men to be obstetricians and gynecologists, where they actually see women's private parts on a daily basis? In the past, most all doctors were men. Midwives are an option but they are not doctors and cannot handle serious matters.

I see no issues as long as the man in question isn't looking at these women with lust. It's no different than women working in say an oil refinery, where it's dominated by men. Since I am not in his mind or heart, I can't tell him it's right or wrong. My opinion, y'all live according to your own. Happy Saturday!!

?
Is this zumba or something. I think some zumba sounds a bit like a pyramid scheme for the instructors but thats my only experience of it.
Also tupperware, but if only women want to go to it am not sure why because that too seems to me a bit pyramiddy or MLM.

Same with Amway...steer clear.

I have a friend who is a male OB/GYN and he said after seeing so many women's lady bits, he doesn't even see his wife's bits with lust. He sees her as a beautiful woman, but her private bits isn't what he's after. There are odors, infections and other things that makes him not even want to be near a woman's nether regions some days.
Knowing this, I don't think it's a tripping stone for most men. I'm sure there are a few sicko's in the profession, but most are just doing a job.

its a general principle like a man leading a group of women (especially in say an exercise class, scantily clad and so on), rather than about any specific class type. thanks though

If a man is too weak and gets too temped when leading a group of women she should find a different profession. Also the other way around.
David was a special kind of...well weak for women. I dare to say not every man lusts as much as king David did.

well Jesus led lots of women I dont think he barred women from following him

with sports you do need to wear fitness gear, not sure about coaches leading all womens teams but nothing to say women cannot play sport as well

if you have a problem with it why not just go to an all womens gym there are some out there, but a lot may be run by lesbians...not sure what has brought on this busybody ness. Im not going to judge a fitness instructor for just doing his job, married or unmarried.

I dont know if all girls schools have male physed teachers, I went to a coed and had a male PE teacher. But with teachers they all need to be police vetted anyway. They are not meant to cross professional boundaries.

This goes for any type of teacher.

I did go to a mostly female yoga class some time ago and the instructor was male. The instructor asked us to raise our hand at the beginning of class if we didn't want him to touch us to reposition us. In yoga class, I do think the instructor repositioning the student is important to get the right form. So, this example is more vague to me because the instructor is getting close up views plus touching the student (though still in a professional way). The instructor could take advantage of his position so that needs to be watched.

lol oooookay. I didn't complain about your answers, just responding in kind. Thought this would be an open discussion based on Scripture as well as experience, as I dont know of many scriptures that cover anything like this. Sorry you seem frustrated with my responses

I don't really know why you think its being a busy body to ask others about a situation you aren't too sure about, and the biblical basis for the opinions they hold, so that you might make a better conclusion on what the scriptures say about it from other peoples perspectives.

Sports gear makes sense for sports - just a shame that for women, official sports gear can often equate to stuff like the compulsory wearing of bikini bottoms for a sport men wear regular shorts to play. norways-womens-beach-handball-team-fined-over-ridiculous-uniform-rule-imposing-bikini-bottoms-on-players--c-3462955 BUT that is another topic in itself and one for another day I think.

I have been rereading some of the longer replies to be sure I didn't miss anything, and I just want to thank you for your input. A mature and pretty solid believer I know had a situation at work that ended up with him compromising with a women there, much to his surprise and those of us who new him too. He did repent but it got him into a lot of trouble. It was a hard lesson for him to discover he wasn't quite as above the temptation as he had thought he was.

I have been a party to getting to close to the wrong people in the past. And I see lots of people getting into precarious situations with members of the opposite sex because they spend regular time together at work and so on, and end up forming an attachment that isn't healthy.

I was thinking of the extreme end of this, like the basic physical lust issue that has brought men and women in every generation in history, people of sincere faith and held in high esteem within the church, and who hold to a pattern of good morals, way down low.

As in the example you gave, David just saw Bathsheba bathing... I am very certain he had seen MANY naked, beautiful women given his position, the concubines and the wives etc... and yet, that was all it took. To see more of a woman's flesh than he should have seen.

Maybe I am just too old fashioned though, and maybe as some say, it is a matter of personal judgement that the bible says nothing about. I had hoped to see things from different Christian's experiences, and I appreciated the David reference, so this has been very helpful thank you.
