Psalm 19:1b “The heavens declare the glory of God…”
Have you ever seen a famous painting or an unusual but beautiful sculpture in a gallery? How about looking at the amazing grace and agility of a hummingbird as it pauses and hovers in mid-air as you ponder it’s wings that fly too fast for your eyes to see-as he searches out the sweet nectar of life? Of course, no one can ever forget the splendor of a peacock in all its glorious palette of color. Think about the diverse varieties of flowers. Each flower is different in color and appearance. Psalm 19:1b “The heavens declare the glory of God…”
Exodus 15:11 “...O LORD? Who is glorious in holiness like you -- so awesome in splendor, performing such wonders?” (New Living Translation)
The Lord’s Wisdom is so vast; it’s boundless. Consider the bountiful variety of seeds and plants and how each one is different. The information that makes them look and function the way they do is contained within the tiny, humble little seed. God took the time to make each one look so beautiful and they are all different from each other! All of God’s creations declare His Wisdom and Glory just by their existence and the very abilities and natures they possess! All of them are a reflection of God’s creativity.
Each individual snowflake is different. No two are alike. They are made up of millions of water molecules that form ice crystals. As a matter of fact, when you look at them under a microscope, each one looks like a work of art; SO individual, and perfect. Man-made snow when shown under a microscope looks nothing like a snowflake. Because God didn’t create it! There is even a scripture in the Bible that mentions the “treasury of snow” in Job 38:22.
As God’s Hands form ice crystals with loving care, so too, He intends to form each person to reflect His Glory. You are unique. God loves beauty and God loves you. So, each human soul is special, unique and of special concern to our Lord.
Matthew 6:27-30 “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Of course not. "And why worry about your clothes? Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won't he more surely care for you?” (New Living Translation)
You also reflect God’s glory, did you know that? Now, if God takes such time and attention to a tiny snowflake, consider how much more time God spent on YOU, and how complex human dna is. For example, the amount of information contained within a single pinhead size amount of dna would be enough to fill a stack books that reaches 500 times higher than the distance that is equal from earth to the moon! Amazing!! That’s how much care God took when He created you. You were not an accident, or a chance happening. God meant for you to be born, and He even has a plan for your life. Consider the following references:
Job 10:10 “You guided my conception and formed me in the womb.”
Psalm139:13 “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb.”
Psalm 71:6 “Yes, you have been with me from birth; from my mother's womb you have cared for me. No wonder I am always praising you!”
Jeremiah 1:5 “knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my spokesman to the world.”
Do you see the all-loving Hand of our Creator? His Fingerprints and signature are on everything, and all around us, including every cell in your body! Even the very air you breathe speaks of God’s loving care! Surely a God like that is worth knowing in a deeper way.
Psalm 111:2 “The works of the Lord are great, studied by all who have pleasure in them.”
Despite all the advances that scientists have been able to make in the last 150 years, there is still so much about nature, animals, and creatures that remains a mystery! As hard as they try and as much as they analyze the information, there are certain things that will remain unexplainable. That’s because our Creator is beyond all human understanding, and yet, such a VAST, and intelligent God, still takes the time to consider us. He values our existence just as He does all the beautiful creations He made; count yourself as one of them! So, the next time you feel alone, insignificant, or unimportant, just look around you and remember that God is always there, only a prayer away, and YOU MATTER TO HIM. He took the time to create you, and He Loves you.
Follow the hummingbird’s example, and be diligent to seek out and drink in the sweet nectar of
the Word of God.
