Matthew 7:6 How do you get the gift of discernment

We had a discussion about Matthew 7:6, I disagreed with the interpretation that “Do not give dogs what is sacred” refers to people that we might accidentally preach the gospel to but shouldn’t. Discernment is a gift of the Holy Spirit and judging unrighteousness is a requirement to be sanctified. In the New Testament we are taught how to discern false prophets (you will know them by their fruit) and we are taught to crucify the works of the flesh. However, I pointed out that the context doesn’t make any sense, telling us “do not judge or you too will be judged” and then telling us to judge certain people as dogs and swine seems very wrong. So then, how can we understand this? Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Let’s use an example, suppose we take someone who is clearly serving Satan to destroy the Kingdom of God. He isn’t just trying to arrest saints, get them fired, close down churches, he is even involved in stoning them to death. Yes, let’s consider Saul of Tarsus.

1. Discernment is a gift of the Holy Spirit given to those who are born again to edify the church
2. Giving to the dogs means the same as not tossing pearls to swine.....in other word do not give words of grace to those who mock God.
that means no arguing scripture with trolls, know when to 'shake the dust'
3. We are to judge with righteous judgement.....Jesus said to judge what He said.....to discern the truth from error and reject the apostasy.
always be prepared to be judged by the same measuring stick that you judge others by
4. Saul became the apostle Paul. Consider that.
