When I was young, a very young man, I wanted to meet a woman to marry, but it was difficult because
I was a very shy person who had problems talking to someone that I had never met before. What to do?
In those days, before the internet, there were no computer dating services, Christian or otherwise but there
were dating services using snailmail. The one I chose encouraged serious meetings and eventually marriage and
this was what I wanted also. It sought to pair couples together who had the same moral and religious outlook.
I was not prepared for how far off the ladies lived from me that I matched with. The first was a hundred miles away
and it was difficult seeing her but I visited her until we broke up. But I had tasted success and although I
was shy I discovered that I could relate well to one person at a time and maybe there was hope for me.
The second lady I wrote to, I started the first letter to her like this: I told my name and told her that I was a member
of such and such Christian denomination and that I believed that Jesus Christ was the son of God. I felt I should say that, and the person I wrote to was a firm Christian but she had recently met a serious boyfriend that she later married.
But she gave my letter to her best frend who was also a seriously Christian lady, who was also praying to meet a Chritian husband. After a year and a half we married and she moved in with me in my home town. After more than 35 years of marriage we are still together and married and have children and a grandchild. Thank you Jesus.
When I was near death some years ago, she led the effort to pray for my healing and she got the unlikely answer to the prayers.
Did the Lord bring us together? I think so, and if you want to marry then I recommend praying about it and I wish all the best
of luck. Except with the wonderful Lord there is no luck about it!
