"All gave some, but some gave ALL."
- author ??
As I Found myself sitting in the parking lot of one of our libraries eating a hamburger, i am pondering life and battles....
I look to my right to I see a Memorial site of the soldiers of every war and battle of the United States. I never knew this memorial in Gonzales existed. i must have passed this place many times. Memorial after memorial of every war and battle. And here I am on Memorial Day. God does direct steps, doesn't He?
I see the Battles that were smaller, local yet central, and just as important to America. i read over the history of Wars being bigger, wider and more involving of all cultures and world. Men writing home of their testaments being in the midst; holding on to their own courage as tight as a baby holds to its Mother.
It is about men and women who died for the freedoms of this country.
So, As i am standing here alone in Remembrance of these battles and wars and casualties, I also ponder of the battle of His Gospel(Spiritual life and death) And this: will the blood that was shed be shed in vain? Will we remember long enough to gain eyesight or hearing? will we care enough to soften our hard hearts and make a stand to defend a cause for the gospel sake, or do we forget until the theif breaks in yet again and again?
God for bid.
As I remember those who have died in battles and wars, I remember mostly the one who died in the biggest war ever, A life, The Life of our God in the flesh, the First born of God Himself. He, Christ, who leads the battle over the preservation of all that is Good for all mankind, along with the biggest victory ever. This was for our own hope in battles, through the Grace and power, the Love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
God i humbly ask You to help us remember Christ daily; to pick up cross, sword, shield, helmet, and shoes with the power of His Spirit, grace to endure The same ongoing battles. battles of disobedience that cause separations to the division in each of true believers homes, churches and even in governments. heal our hearts and minds. let us not be ashamed of the gospel even more than not being ashamed of being an American, in Jesus name amen. John 3:16
