I once thought mercy was about looking at the person and seeing why they did what they did when it came to sin.
Or maby the person who was begging, that one helped because they had some bad luck, and one should show mercy and help them.
Maby the person who asked for help, was deserving because of illness or was a widow, maby needed help because of a crime commited against them.

But, over time, through scripture, Jesus showed me that God's mercy, was not about needing justification, but purely because mercy is given.
More often now in scripture, I see the mercy, the forgiveness, love in Jesus we recieived and are called to.
Has nothing to do with the why or reason, but is simply given, Because God Our Father loves us.
For it is this pure love that we have recieived, and are called to.
May we all learn to show the same mercy, forgiveness and love, that God has shown us.


For God so loved the world, that while we were still sinners, He gave His only begotten son, as a sacrifice for our sins.

Do you think we are to have a reason to show mercy, or is the mercy we are called to, to be given simply because we have been shown mercy?

If we love our neighbor as ourself, then will give mercy freely, for it is what we ourselves desire.

Matthew 5:7 "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy."

As a Pastor I am often confronted with the wildest questions and notions that people sincerely want answered. It keeps you on your toes to say the least. Your question is a great question and I'll give you a question that answers your question. I know it's a oxymoron or very similar lol.
If we are commanded, told by Jesus to do anything are we to do it no matter what? Are we to try even if we can't? We go way beyond ten basic commandments with Jesus we follow his every word or we try to until we are able to defeat our flesh by his indwelling. Until then its a fight to be humble, to show mercy, to even forgive but we are told to do each by our Lord in more ways than one. as a Christian this walk is a challenge but well worth it.

So true. :) but as to being difficult?
Jesus has been showing me that the difficulty has to do first with faith.
Then humility, obedience and of course His love.
What is amazing though, with each step we take in Jesus, according to God Our father's will in this?
The only difficulty is self, and when we are able in faith to set this aside, one can find all is a lot easyer than to do otherwise.
I was listening to a person today, who saw only fault, complaining about other drivers, and judgeing how they drove, people who were getting in the way, or what was on the news.
Then the person complained about being tired of it all, and just plain tired.
I then realized that we all create our own exsaustion, become weary due to our own actions, simply because we choose such things, rather than what we are called to in Jesus.
I read scripture where it said God gives no streangth for sin.
More and more Im seeing not just the desire of God to call us to obedience, but the wisdom of His love in this word.

I realized how much we, I complicated the things we are called to, in trying to justify, even judge wether another is worthy.
When what Jesus, God Our father wants us to see is that mercy, forgivness, compassion, His love, is, as He is and said, I am.
All these things given by God and asked of us is just as it is , not about being earned or justified, but given because this is His perfect love for us.
The amazing thing is, when we stop trying to reason or justify why, and simply do all in His love that we are called to?
It is not difficult or tiring, but is filled with His love and streangth.
Its simply our flesh that gets in the way, and then given in Jesus, the eyes to see and the ears to hear. :)
Praise God! That this gift is ours in Jesus! :)
