I understand the point she is making, but dislike it none the less.

If a liberal congressman or presidential candidate were to, say, declare themselves French, Italian, or Swedish citizens, conservatives would be up in arms. Slurs would be tossed about left and right.

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer American representatives remain American.
